Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United 2004-05 (Mourinho's first game)

- Finishing runners-up in the league and reaching the semi-finals of Europe's top competition the season before had not been enough to save Claudio Ranieri's job as Chelsea manager. It was trophies that the club wanted and so Jose Mourinho was drafted in as the Italian's replacement. His first outing was against Manchester United, a team that had not lost on the opening day of the season for eight years. Alan Parry and Andy Townsend commentate.

Mourinho's first win at Chelsea is against Manchester United, his 100th win is also against Manchester United. What a manager
ILLUMINATI
illuminati confirmed
a sign....end of the times
Beneman Abbey I
Beneman Abbey that’s PS hated him while a Man U manager... personal vendetta
They all look so young! This makes me nostalgic
Mourinho's first UCL title with Porto was eliminating Man Utd in the semifinals. Then his first game in Chelsea was against Man Utd. Now he coaches Man Utd. lol
Yuri eliminated United in the last 16, not semi finals. They beat Deportivo in the Semis and Lyon in the quarters.
Now he almost destroyed Manchester United😂 he was born to fk them up how they couldn't see
Yuri no doubt old players who became pundits hated him...
Tottenham 😄
And now Man Utd get 6 slapping goal too from Him
The good old days
Hamza Haq its so sad because look now
vine aca por la anecdota de forlan

Jajja igual
Drogba and Gudjonson were excellent together there.
Great team!
Great manager!
Yo guys. Liverpool fan here but a lot of respect to Senhor Mourinho for breaking records at Chelsea. Shame he didn't help u guys get a CL but that doesn't take anything away from his managerial dominance in the PL
Mourinho should bought Zidane or Ronaldinho and not Kezman Maniche.
Selling JFH was a big mistake.
Ranieri build the team.
2004-2009 golden era of EPL (Big clubs, great rivalries, many beautiful ENGLISH players)
I started to watch football in 2005)oh....
Christopher Engish Eubank in terms of European domination. 2004/05-2008/09 was the golden era. Considering 4 teams would battle for the title every year. There was an English team in each of the UCL finals in that period and an all English final in 2008. In 2007 2008 and 2009 England’s top 4 were ranked in UEFA’s top 5.
@@manutd4life749 It's coming back now I think. We had an all English final in 2019 and 2021
that defense of chelsea was the best
Javier Akinde yeah. 15 goals conceded in 38 games? With the likes of Henry,Gerrard,Ronaldo,Giggs,Pires,Shearer,Viera and many others gracing the English League at that time is absolutely never been seen before.
+Edgar Panganiban Giggs? The guy with a fetish for his brother's wife? Hello?
lela but still Giggs was a great player
****THE BUS
@@edgarpanganiban9339ManUtd had a B-team in this game. Ronaldo (who was still a work in progress but also could've caused Chelsea some problems) was at the Olympics during this game. He often didn't play much if any of the away PL game vs Chelsea for various reasons 03/04 only 70+mins in brought on as young & inexperienced in such games, there was 1 time ManUtd had another B-team out 06/07 where he didn't play because ManUtd had already won the title, he was sometimes only brought on in 2nd half to rest him for other big games like 07/08 he was injured at the start of 08/09 so he was brought on in 2nd half to ease him back in, he only started 1 PL game there in 7 seasons including comeback year (that was 05/06 didn't have a good game against them subbed off but that was his worst season for ManUtd given what was expected of him by then and many big games he failed badly in).
He did become unplayable (even against Chelsea) in his last 2 seasons so from when he & ManUtd demolished Chelsea at OldTrafford in 08/09 3-0 where he played big part in 2 goals and had a goal for himself wrongly disallowed...Chelsea were then very lucky to avoid him for 12 years both domestically & in ChampionsLeague while he was at such a high level. Think of the amount Chelsea won in that time and many of which unconvincing and because they had lucky cup draws decisions etc...
Back to this ManUtd 04/05 lineup.
v.Nistelrooy was unavailable in this match (but still scored vs Chelsea at OldTrafford...and Henry scored 2 vs Chelsea so I don't know why you named him) so Giggs was having to play a bit further forward to support Alan Smith and many other players were played out of position most notably RoyKeane was having to play centre-back.
Djemba-Djemba & Liam Miller(rip) were playing in the midfield. QuintonFortune was always a fringe player but he played from start to finish as well.
Ferdinand was still banned.
ManUtd still had goalkeeper issues until they got VanDerSar a year later.
It was pretty much just Scholes who was a regular ManUtd first team player for a long time who was also playing in his best position.
What lineup issues did Chelsea have? None because they bought everyone in the few transfer windows and they were still lucky to get a 1-0 home win.
Also are you aware Arsenal only conceded 2 more than Chelsea in 98/99 and didn't have to spend what Chelsea did AND what really is a great achievement is a team beating such a solid team like that to the title and ManUtd 98/99 are the only team who's beaten such a solid defence in PL history.
The amount of class in this clip is monumental
What a great team!... 💙🔥
He deserved to win a champions league with Chelsea
You gotta remember how Chelsea fans were feeling at the time. Mou coming in and the feeling in the stands was electric. There wasnt any doubt wherever we went we wouuld win. Thats the confidence having a world class manager brings. At the start of this season there was the same feeling and altho we had a blip or 2 we are going to do great things. Ill see you all in Paris in a couple of weeks.
+GasMaskHeadhunter LOL
+Sean Farrell 6:07 Laugh more please. FA United.
+Sean Farrell I know bruv. Feckin amazing how things can change so quick. But its all a roller coaster and youre not promised an easy ride. I wouldnt like it but it might do us good to have a spell in the1st Div. Get shot of some of the tourists and have a bloomin good clear out. Get rid of the lot and bloody rebuild.
Second ucl and plenty more success!
Mourinho, best in the world
Alan parry legendary commentator the old era of commentary
The start of a dynasty

It's nearly certain that Mourinho's coming back home, looking forward to some more games like this (although Rafa has spoiled us in terms of our matches against United with 3 wins out of 4 matches under his interim reign).
Min 5:46 momento exacto en el que Forlán se va al Villarreal siempre apoyandome en lo que dijo en Fox Radio jeje
The good old days...😭
Quien mas esta aqui para ver lo que forlan dijo en radio fox.... el futbol nos tiene emfermos locoooooo jaja

Damn, if Roy Keane had made that tackle at 1:00 today, he'd have easily gotten a red card. Here nobody even mentions it and it's totally normal. Football was so different only a few years ago.
I know right pathetic we’re it’s gone today
Jose brought me here ..
cech is beast
The golden days of PL. Football has gone to shit now, no characters or world class players.
Mour....Our arch-opponent then

we used to keep so many games in boring tactic but it was really working.
The best team in football history
Was this the game when Sir Alex Ferguson sacked Diego Forlán because of his change of studs?
