A pity Seymour Hersh did not grasp his role as a moderator. Rezendes and Bradlee were the people we should have heard from

    Absolutely the worst moderator.

Audience should've boo'ed him off the stage. You'd think that, for having seen the movie, they'd have left at least a tad of their passivity/cowardice/subservience at the door. So, they deserved what they got. But Mssrs. Rezendes and Bradley, Jr., sure didn't.

Yup. Seymour Hersh needs to focus on his task here. Instead, he asks the question then answers it. The other two might as well not even be there.

Exactly. Did Hersh suddenly forget the skill and art of interviewing?! Come to think of it, his long articles as a journalist may have relatively few quotes relative to the entire material. So, perhaps that skill is not a strong point in him? Which would be insane in a reporter. But, yes, he's hoarding the stage. That level of selfishness is clearly disrespectful of his two guests, and to the audience as well. I have a helluva lot of patience, but I can't sit through this one, it's that bad. Just randomly click at any place along the interview, and 95% of the time, it's Hersh who's talking.

This is on the event organizers: you dont put Hersch on stage unless you want him talking like he's in the back of a bar

It almost seems that Mr. Hersh is trying to get Rezendez and Bradley to speak poorly of the movie. The fact that they did not give in and spoke of the film with respect and even admiration shows their character, and it made me respect the two of them even more. I like what Mike Rezendez said, “five months of investigation in two hours”. Of course the film wasn’t to get every single thing right but it honored the story and their work as dedicated reporters. And it opened up the movie-going population to the behavior in the Catholic Church of the time, and what it took to uncover the initial story. This could have been such a wonderfully insightful interview with two wonderful reporters. Too bad the moderator wanted to diminish the remarkable film that resulted from the story, and the work of the hundreds of people who put it together as well.

Myself, I’m a scientist, mathematician, & poet of the classical form, of a scientific family that has for centuries valued & defended books & the written word alike... And I say : No, THE BEST OF THE PAST IS THE BEST OF THE FUTURE, as is the worst the worst. WE CHILDREN OF TODAY STILL WANT HARD COPY PAPERS, LETTRES, BOOKS! That never goes out of style. I am an antiquarian by nature & breeding I admit, however I am not alone. I note how more of my colleagues & friends of all ages reject short-form bland reportage, reject ignorance & inane shouting, & reject a digital-only reading world. So take heart, help us, & never give in. We are depending on you, as you are on us and our families and friends!

You are not alone! I read books, preferably hard cover, because kindle doesn't do it for me. And I miss my city's newspaper terribly! It was part of my day, getting it in the morning, spreading it over the table to read with my coffee, the crossword. I love the internet and all the independent journalism, but there should be a way to save the papers.

As an adolescent today : We need the best of the past & present, print & digital. We need halls guarded from perverse propaganda & corridors wide open for those of us who have suffered a/o been failed by the establishment but are independent scientists, literarians, authors, journalists, professionals, artists, minds + souls, of high repute with our work in the logical right {such as we had in every golden age, from The Old Kingdom in Egypt, to The 18th Century in France, to The High Imperial Age in Arabia, and beyond, & can have today more perfectly & less boundedly than ever before!}.
The future is as we dream for it, what we realize it to be, & as we permit it to become. No room for fatalism or surrender. WE must not let the standards fall, & WE must restore them to their proper height where they have fallen. I know I am only a boy... but I say for I know it to be fact : we must cede no ground to ignorance, & hold no court for the worst impulses of man here.

    No really into books
Only read when a need to kno
    But watched a few clips
then watched the film lastnite and was shocked about that much in 1 state n how they got around it for TOO LONG and to think it's the boys club secrets
I was an alter boy if I knew this went on
Think I woulda wrecked that place then
So sick yet so sad for those who did survive
Coming from an abused kid but not by the church chapel whatever you wanna call it
Or even to that extent them poor souls went thru
Knew it went on from what was put out But to this extent sickening
    God has blessed these victims
But not the god these rats follow
Fast forward 2021 and it's all falling down

I bought this movie digital here on UA-cam because HBO Max didn’t run it anymore.
I still cry at a number of the scenes. I watch it at least twice a week.
You know it’s a great movie when you watch it and hear it, then watch it without sound and then a third time, listen without watching it.
Spotlight is spot on. It’s very troubling and very informative. There aren’t any breaks or scenes where you might say, “Ok, I get it, now move on.” This movie just doesn’t stop. It keeps you focused and interested.
I hate what these soulless, horrific men did to so many victims. But it was visualized brilliantly by the director, cinematographer, cast and crew.

In 1968 Pope Benedict XVI as a Cardinal was in charge of the Office of the Inquisition now/then called the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. He wrote the official Catholic edict to deal with this problem, by covering it up. He summarised the many ways to impede and derail civil and criminal investigations of pedo priests. The few Priests and Cardinals who tried to persue this problem were hamstrung by this Ratzinger's 1968 edict. And yet 3 yrs after the 600 Spotlight articles he became Pope. If you thought you couldn't be shocked any more by this google "Tuam babies sceptic tank" the story of a Catholic institution (run from ~1910s-1960s) for single mothers where the "sinful" mothers became slaves for life and they dumped 800 corpses of kids aged from new born to 12yrs in a sceptic tank.
