Meacham is not only a terrific writer but a real charmer as well as a refreshingly elegant man. It's such a pleasure to see a man so beautifully dressed and groomed. Gorgeous suit, beautiful shoes, and he has the taste to wear knee socks, thank god. Nothing worse than seeing a slice of hairy leg stick out from under a man's trouser leg when he sits down. Gorgeous man.
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Arlo Jon thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
1988 was my 2nd chance to vote in a presidential election. I was a "D" from Massachusetts who had voted for Mondale in 1984. But sure George Bush would have been a better President than Reagan was and a better one than Dukakis. He had to make very difficult decisions about the country as the Cold War had ended. He increased taxes, cuts in defense spending Military Base closures all over the country a draw down in active duty Personnel. which I was a part of and regret not staying in the rest of the way to get my 20yrs in. His choice for VP was a huge mistake yet he kept him on for the 92 campaign. You have to admire the loyalty. He ended up befriending his old political foe. More admiration for that. Also the emotion and turmoil in his old age. Over all I'm glad I voted for GHW Bush in 1988.
I couldn't vote in 1988 and I am a Democrat but I believe I would have voted for George H.W. Bush if I could have voted in 1988. I went to the Capitol Building to see two Presidents as they lay in state - I waiting 9 hours to pass Reagan's casket and waited about 20 minutes to pass Ford's. I regret that I wasn't in DC when George H.W. Bush lay in state and that I didn't go up to pay my respects to him. He was a good man and a good President.
The problem with Bush is that he thought people were actually voting for him. People were actually voting for a 3rd Reagan term and instead Bush fractured the Republican Party and lost in ‘92.
I am going to see Jon Meacham speak about presidential characteristics and the 2016 election. I feel it will be amazing to hear a presidential historian put this insane election into context. I wonder how this election will be viewed 20 years from now
New York politics sucks. Thank God I live in a purple state. I think if I lived in a blue state I would be so pissed off with everyone around me. To live in a place with only one way to think and be criticized for thinking of other possibilities is no way to live.
That's not blue or red, that's just listening to rigid, reactionary thinkers. Do you think there's just as much societal pressure in West Virginia as in New York?
You just made my point. In my state you discuss politics without being criticized or booed. America can't come together if you don't listen to other opinions and be respectful.
ADA will be his thing.... Desert Storm may be forgotten about since the next 3 Presidents have done a terrible job of concluding our affairs in the middle east.
This pairing is golden! My heroes on stage together is has made me feel better about my AMERICA.
Propagandists in action.
Enjoyed it, thank you
This is the best interview. So great!

Absolutely great writer and author. Thank you for uploading and sharing.
iam in love with this man!
Wouldn't it be great if we did not buy retail or wholesale charisma but rather CHARACTER and INTEGRITY and DEDICATION to SERVICE?

JAKESTAR105 My mother was also a Dem from Massachusetts; she was living in CA in 1988. She voted for HW Bush with a thought process similar to yours.

Hey simple rule. If you write the guys biography you don’t do the eulogy of the guy at his funeral

@@michelles4 I think you are on to something that is just so, so important. This is what I shall endeavor to do. Learning to listen is my goal.
I live in Florida-- Thank God I live in a blue (university) city in this red state.
#NeverBush Never everrrrrr again!!!!!

+Dee Train I like Jon Meacham. I'm glad that somebody took the time to do his biography.
Ex
He frequently makes silly jokes that don't become him. It would be better if he stayed serious.
No interest-they’re both haters
