Thank you very much as this presentation was absolutely amazing. Good pace of speaking (mic had some breathe static), wonderful vocabulary use, slides were well made and clear, kept to the task at hand without going off task, and very patient instructor. Great speaking points around 52:00. Thank you again for taking the time to create this exam instructional guide ^_^
I am so grateful for you. I took notes and ect, I’ve been teaching for 6 years, my current job is requiring this, so I am in study mode! Thank you for helping people reach their full potential.
SO helpful. SO thorough. So full of vital and important thoughts... thank you so much! (By the way dear friend, "Irregardless" is a perfect example of sharing differences in background. For many speakers (black and southern in particular) it is a great word. Some day we'll stop loving Standard more than Acceptance and Understanding.) (And, like "disrespect" as a verb, it may make it to the next dictionary edition!)
J Wildj Thank you much!!! Without a script words like "irregardless" leap out of my mouth before I realize it. It might be the colloquial Bronx NY coming out. Lol. Nonetheless, I'm very passionate about this topic and delighted to know there are many others who are too. The work continues.... The Best to You 💜
P.S. the Clark study that was so influential was co-designed and implemented by Dr. Kenneth Clark AND Ms. Mamie Clark, as research for her doctoral thesis. Leaving out her name as a scholar is one of the ironies of how we short cut our memories, remembering the gentlemen and leaving out the ladies, just as is the case with "Brown" ! Ironic how we fluidly continue these patterns! (And when you think about dolls, who do you think had the idea for that study in the first place?)
Thanks for your comment. I'll be sure to remember to include her going forward. Leaving her out was unintentional yet doesn't excuse her important contribution.
As I am going through the process very quickly and don't know what many DOE abbreviations mean, I had thought this was a test about the academic content of all subjects. This video helped me to understand that it isn't that at all! lol... Although it may not be typical exam prep ( I haven't taken the test, so I can't be too sure.), it really put me in a different state of mind and a better mood overall about taking it, as I had previously just felt annoyed and worried about having to take and pass a standardized test. I am still very worried about passing but I now see how it is more than just a test or another step toward getting a job.
If you're watching this it's likely because you have to take this test. Go to study.com for the best EAS practice just kicked this test in the ass. First 5 days are free plenty of time to get what you need then cancel. From what I can tell they also have ALST (which I'm studying for now) and multi-subject. If you're going to pay only get the $40 package it's everything you need. Good luck homies :)
Brandon Keys I literally JUST recieved an email stating that i would be refunded for the ALST because I registered to take it in May but it's no longer a requirement effective March 14th!!!
Honestly, I am not sure. This video was posted many years ago and the standards may have changed since then. Either way, as long as you earn a passing score, you are good to go. :-)
+meki6 It is nonstandard and/or incorrect usage. It has a nonstandard status is due to the double negative construction of the prefix ir- with the suffix -less. "Regardless" should be used instead because it is the standard and correct usage, especially in an academic setting and even moreso in a lecture being given by a PhD. #iameducated #elevateyourself #properspeech #realtalk
+Kristi Abbatemarco I know all of what you just said. But prior to all of the information you've just researched, you stated that it wasn't a word. My point was that it is a word, whether it be proper or improper. I'm glad you're educated keep up the good work👍 #youtriedit #getyourlife #realtalk
Hello, I will be taking the exam next month, and I tried to use the link you provided, but it's no longer active. Is there another website available? Thank you so much! This video helped me understand more about the material that will be on the exam.
Our kids live diversity so it's not difficult to understand. For those of them who do not represent a traditionally marginalized background & aspire to be educators it's of utmost importance that they understand the intricate details of Diversity & Inclusion. If they're sitting in a college classroom & can't read & write they sure don't need to be there let alone planning to teach anyone else.
This is a must see/ hear for all educators at any level. Thank you for creating and sharing this.

They make us go through all this knowledge, and then students can hit us in classrooms with no consequences

Very helpful review of material!
"Irregardless" was a little cringe-worthy though because it's not a word. Other than that, awesome.
Irregardless is a word it's just "nonstandard", people rarely used the word. #educateyourself #dobetter

it's 14th amendment re: civil rights, not 4th... search and seizure
You are correct, that was an misspeaking. I need to make that note in the comments. Thanks for pointing that out.
.. i found this useful, thank you .. [] = :
Will this help for NYC certification?
Not that I know of...this video was created for NYS Certification. I am not currently aware of the requirements for NYC licensing.

Jaylene Rubio how did you do on the test? I’m taking it soon.
Our kids can barely read and write and do math, but we want to make sure they understand diversity lolol
