A natural talent, she can play just by hearing the notes and not by looking. All I know is , if a 2 or 3 year old doesn't want to do it then they won't.

Haha I am not even fifty yet and my London Bridge is better than hers but I cannot play Ode to joy or this Old man! Seriously how on earth do you get a three-year-old to keep interested long enough to learn to play the piano, I imagine that she is now so far past any skill level I will ever achieve and congratulations to both her and her parents in managing to learn to play at such a young age.

I can't see much happiness in this child's eyes comparing to my own almost 3 year old son when he plays some instrument. Chinese(and some other Asian countries) have very strict training for children. Any child could achieve good skills if they were pressured to train several hours per week. This is also how Mozart's father was. Plus the time of old masters there was no tv or internet to disturb, they did something else instead. Many children of wealthy parents had some sort of skills to play music. But some of them were more talented than others. There are plenty of children that can play well in very early age in these countries. This is because of the disciplined training and not because of special talent. Of course there are probably more super talented children in China than other countries but that would be because of the amount of people.

You can't force a child this age to play piano if they don't want to... they do play because they are attracted for whatever reason to making music. My daughter started plunking out tunes on our piano when she was two years old. I never made her... she went to the piano whenever she felt like playing. She would spend endless hours practising or creating her own compositions without anyone telling her to. This was her "play"... something in which she enjoyed doing... it was fun for her. So much so that I literally would have to pull her away from the piano and "make" her do something else or she would be making music all day if I let her. My daughter is now 10 years old... she still plays piano and has been taking lessons since she was 4 years old. She also has a life, and other interests, and friends. It is very unfair for anyone to assume that children who are exceptionally talented at playing piano at a young age are forced to do it or have no life outside of piano. Any child who is truly "forced" to play will quit eventually; and if they don't quit... their skills and mastery will never become noteworthy because the desire to play isn't there in their heart.

McAllister You shouldn’t assume things so quickly. She could just be nervous. These “Asian” people don’t always force their kids to play music. It’s an important tradition in their culture, but they don’t always FORCE them to.

Sometimes I feel that Asian children are “pushed” from a very young age by their parents. Is this little girl having fun? I don’t think so. She is a Show Pony to make her parents look good. Which is very important in many Asian countries.

It's like riding a bike you don't need to look at the pedals to make the bike go. Just like you know where each of your feet are resting on bike pedals she knows where her each five fingers rest on and in this song her fingers don't have to move to left or right of the piano so the fingers stay on same position. There's no need to look at the piano just like you don't need to look at your bike pedals.

I know that may be easy for you but... i know that at a young age its difficult to learn piano. I was able to play "fur elise" at 3 but its not as simple as it looks. Super! I'll bet she's learning by the Susuki method. All the Asian children who are learning various instruments learn this way and become professionals in a short time. We need kids taught this way here in the states so that they won't give up on their instruments trying to learn note reading and all the other boring and discouraging methods.

I believe this kust have been aired on China's got talent of something alike, I reached this conclusion due to my knowledge of the languages - it sounded similar and more closely related to Chinese than Korean, Indonesian, Malaysian so on.
