First hand knowledge living in New Zealand (we have the odd sheep here) he is 100% right. They never rust or squeak either.

billy56081 : Bass pro shops carry some outstanding double sole wool boot socks made by "Redhead" and they're life time guaranteed. when I wear them out, or just aren't satisfied with how they fit after a few months, I return them "NO questions
asked" although they're $11 bucks a pair, in the long run it's an excellent value.
      Kind regards, Eric Dee.

Thrift stores seem to be about the best places to buy wool blankets. You can inspect before you buy and the prices are generally good. I have some locally made wool blankets that were in almost new condition, most bought for $7 to $10.

I really hate being allergic to wool. Its the warmest material for a blanket, but it drives My Sinuses crazy. I agree with You though Sir, I hate false advertising too.

Have to always read the entire Amazon description, most of the times the photos of the items are wrong too.

Sounds like you're getting swindled by private party selling on Amazon. When I buy anything on Amazon I make sure it's coming directly from them and not some Amazon store. Most of the time I use Amazon because of the super fast shipping. I live close enough to an Amazon warehouse that I can get same day or next day delivery on any item coming directly from them. Like I said I will not buy from a private seller on Amazon.

Fake milsurp, sheesh. I was on Midway and ordered a few Italian surplus pocket knives. I think it was a good buy under $9 per piece. Just needs a little sharpening.

Purchased one of these for $150 on EBay and got burnt. After complaining to the seller about it they agreed to send me a genuine one. I really should have purchased the West German army blanket instead and got the real deal.

You will know when you see a genuine blanket it will either have the numbers and letters of both a metal button and numbers

eBay is full of fakes too unfortunately. Reputable dealers cost more, but at least you can be more confident in what you're getting.

Mr. looms. Just curious if you can find the authentic Swiss military wool blankets at your local Fleetfarm?.
    Kind regards! Eric Dee.

Great video Sir. Right now it’s hard to find any wool blankets. Covid screwed up the supply chain and it’s not worth the $ to ship it. I have a few USGI blankets and they’re quality for an affordable price if you know where to look. Too many cheap knockoffs

Just found this video while doing some research. I am poking around Switzerland and ended up at a surplus store where they had some blankets. There were reproduction blankets clearly marked and there was the stack I pulled from. My blanket it very thick, two red stripes, one felted in cross with E 66 stitched in red in the lower left corner. I want to think it's real but now Im second guessing it. Thoughts?

    • @logcabinlooms
      @logcabinlooms  3 роки тому +1

The number in the corner is encouraging, I haven't seen it on a reproduction. The real sure proof would be if it had the metal tag stamped on, but not all had them so if it's not there it doesn't mean it's fake. Side by side the originals are much thicker, and woven more tight than the fakes from India. The real ones can vary in shading from brown to grey depending on the manufacturer, and year it was made. Great blanket, the only thing I have found to compare are the Dutch army blankets, but the color scheme on the Swiss is distinctive.

@@logcabinlooms I really appreciate it! It feels really well built. I was just a bit skeptical because I had read they made them into the sixties so 66 felt kind of late. I really appreciate your input.

I think the one you got is real. The letters and numbers indicate the manufacturer and year of manufacture. Fake ones don't have them (yet). Also, the metal tag only shows up in earlier WWII-era manufactured blankets to the early 50s. If it is not there, because your genuine blanket is newer, look for the heat stamp near the manufacturer's mark. Some originals have them and all the fake ones don't.

Great review mate. I think I’ve found a genuine one, on eBay!😂
I’m really not sure though, from what you said, it looks like it. I’ve bought Australian wool blankets to be safe, they’re 100% wool. I prefer that than the mixed blends.😊👍🏼
I remember the blankets I’ve bought from my childhood. They were good then and they’re good now. Mine are Onkaparinga wool blankets.

I think I bought the Rothco version, which is 80% wool, and costs about $25. Rothco is pretty reputable. I have their M65 field jacket and M51 parka. I probably will never buy a real Swiss Army blanket. And really you should have known better than thinking a genuine one would be $15.
