Thank you we spent 10s of thousands of dollars from washington to phoenix new turbo and actuator new egr and cooler 6 new fuel injectors 2 DPF filters and catalyst doser valve all at Cummins / freightliner / Peterbilt and 3 tow bills Sitting in Ely Nevada last night dreading calling for a tow to vegas and saw this video. pulled out the intake manifold pressure temp sensor and it was completely encased in soot cleaned it with WD40 put it back in and truck instantly ran fantastic Like new thank you so much for posting this
I pure pulled over to the side of the road to do this... 2005 international 9400i Cummins ISX.. DAMNNN WHAT DIFFERENCE!! I done the biometric sensor and the EGR both... HUGEEEE DIFFERENCE IN POWER AND SMOOTHNESS... thanks a lot man!

Are these cm870 cummins any good? And how many miles can you get before it needs a rebuild. Im looking at a 379 with a 400hp cm870 in it with 900k but idk if it has a rebuild in it or not. Im a cat guy and still leanring about these isx. Any reply would be appreciated
I like them. It all depends on how it was maintained. I have seen some that need a rebuild at 500k and there are some like mine I have 1.6m and still haven’t been opened.
Bully dog. And mine is blown as well. I have been researching on doing a BorgWarner s400 turbo conversion. Basically a pdi build on a budget. With a t6 adapter to stock exhaust manifold
Chad Holland you also will have to get your Ecu retuned for not haveing a can’t turbo. I am leaning tords a hoset s400 or s475 like the detroit series 60.
I have tje same engine last week started smoking like crazy out of blow by tube! No loss of oil, oil pressure good runs the same except crazy smoke! Any ideas?
Watch some of my other isx videos and try them out. But a lot of blow by is normally high crank case pressure or worn rings. You can try a good deturgented oil and try and clean out some out deposit in the system but that’s normally best case scenario
I get white smoke randomly only when driving only. Most likely to happen when pulling hills or hard acceleration when under a heavy load. Engine sounds fine, weak acceleration power. Been going on for over a year now, still haven’t figured out the problem 😢 *2010 Pete 387 ISX07* *No engine light*

Did you check your valves and piston with a horoscope? Sounds like a pretty bad issue. Also check your wiring and everything is getting the proper voltage
@@truckerstyleshawn thanks for the reply, yeah I checked all that, monday I'm gonna check base timing make sure the cam gear didn't spin on the cam also gonna check the valve lash. If that checks out good it's either a piston, slight bent valve not letting close all the way.

I know that harness is cut for sure but connected back. I can’t believe that that small think can be the problem. I will check tomorrow and I will instal the new one and I will change the manifold pressure and barometric pressure sensor to but I can’t find. I checked today didn’t see it but was dark.

Reason I ask is because Im looking at swapping my Volvo ved12d engine with either this isx cm870 engine or the Detroit series 60 14L engine. Main reason for the swap is more power and parts/shop availability. As well as maintenance cost and fuel economy. I figure u and any one else who has this motor or had it can better help me decide on what to do.... Thx in advance and be safe out there
My turbo keeps cutting out at 1300 1400 RPM 35-45 MPH then kicks back in. I just replaced EGR, Speed sensor and exhaust pressure sensor no change. Any ideas?
I'll tell you what man that was a very detailed informative video that I really appreciated. I'm running the same motor. New to me . Not looking to get taken advantage of. So all the tips/tricks and info you got I'll watch!! and it's time to clean my sensors. IMAP also!
Check egr tubes wrapping around the back of the engine for a silicone hose which is ignored, i had a howling sound, low boost pressure, the freaking shop changed the egr valve, because the code popped up, without checking all possible scenarios but think we have deep pockets to drop stacks. That hose will cost you 75 compared to thousands after these rat shops get their hands on it.

I service part of Northern/Central Nevada and Ely, NV is one of the worst places to go down in. No repair shops anywhere near by.

Also check the fuel timing actuators. If they are low in voltage it will have that issue as well

I would check the harness for your iat sensor. Also for boost leaks to start

Isx is good but series 60 would be your best bet for cost per mile.
also check wires to the crank case they get cut from harness yes one tiny wire will shut you down

Is it a cm870 or 871?
Your vnt may be bent or clogged. So I pull the cas from the turbo and check the vanes on the vnt.
