As schoolkids we always talked about what we'd seen on Twilight Zone Firday night the following Monday. The Monday after "It's A Good Life" aired the phrase "But it's good that you did that" got laughs at recess. But I always wished that Will Robinson could've wished Dr. Smith into the cornfield. ☺
He looks gr8. .. love his work throughout the years. . .But Anthony in It's a good life is exceptional. The line "wish him into the cornfield", Anthony. Still sticks out.
I am very glad to see that Billy Mumy has grown up to be a highly intelligent, sensitive, thoughtful, kind, loving, and respectful human being. A truly remarkable character development when you consider that when we first met him, and he went by the name of Anthony Fremont, he was a narcissistic, sadistic, overbearing, and stubborn 9 year old. (And I mean that in a good way, just in case.) But what caused this startling, dramatic personality change?
You know, to this day, I still don't know for sure if Anthony was wishing his victims into cornfields by teleporting them to a nearby one, or by transforming them into corn plants on some vacant land. It's a silly distinction, but you can see that there is two ways that particular choice of words can be interpreted. BTW, I remember the original short story upon which that episode was based. The kid is killed by a farm hand with a shovel at the end. When asked how he was able to do that, the farm hand just shrugs and says, "I guess I just did it without thinking about it."
That's a real good interview you gave there, Bill. Real good. You know how much we all love your interviews.
One of the very few actors holywood has not destroyed, a decent man.
That was the best acting job by a child actor in TV history. A great, great episode.
Real good interview, Bill. Real good.

A great episode of a landmark TV series, there will never be another visionary like Rod Serling, ever..
the greatest child actor! and still alive.

I think all of us kids, back in the day, just hated Anthony in that episode. I think I know why. We were jealous.
