I'm glad you made the 20k. For me, it's nice to watch the same familiar people week in and week out. I kinda know what I'm gonna get and it's a nice way to wind down after a day at work. I'm sure I am not alone... The fish looked great and I feel is hugely underrated in the UK. Living in Warwickshire is about as far away from the coast as is possible, though 🤣
Thanks so much for the kind words - I am glad you enjoy the videos! I do like trying the more unusual fish options - it's normally a pleasant surprise!
Here in Oz, Whiting is probably the 2nd most ordered fish at a Fish & Chip shop, behind Flake (Gummy Shark). 2 types ........ the smaller Sand Whiting then King George Whiting, which is larger (KG is the one you get at a F&C here) Flavour is exactly as you described, delicate with a hint of sweetness. Catch them all around the Aussie coast in the sandy shallows especially where there are sea grass (weed) beds.
That's interesting - I suppose most of the fish we see here in fish and chip shops (cod, haddock) are more prevalent in Atlantic waters than round your neck of the woods right?
Hi mate can't compare Yorkshire etc fish and chips to this, chalk and cheese. Mitch is an award winning fishmonger restaurantur ambassador for MSc,sustainability and a leading light in getting the Uk to care where their fish comes from etc etc. He works tirelessly to promote fish without the celebrity bs. I am not a fish eater but hats off to Mitch, heard him many a time on The Food Programme etc, not arrogant no ego. He knows fish full stop. Excellent service and review btw the way ❤
Yes indeed, he is well known in fishy circles, and uses his platform well I think. Different to Yorkshire fish and chips of course, but equally as delicious!!
Congratulations Mr greeno keep up all the good things you do. Keep doing the great videos. Enjoy your fish chips. Pricy but if there good worth it. X🎉🎉🎉.
We ate at Mitch Tonks restaurant in Dartmouth, I think? Absolutely beautiful food price was a bit salty, but sometimes you have to pay for good food, great content again, Greeno.
We’ve bought all our fish from Rockfish for a while. We buy online and then it’s shipped direct to us through DPD. Just had a delivery yesterday of crab, cod, gurnard and ray. Very well packed and arrives chilled. It’s no way as cheap as the stuff you can buy in supermarkets but that stuff could be anything formed into a fish shape. It’s been somewhere for days and weeks before you cook it. Every piece we’ve had from Rockfish has been top quality. We would far rather have a smaller piece that tastes of the sea than a large piece of tasteless pap. We’ve got no connection with Rockfish except as very happy customers.
First off. Congrats to getting to 20K. Well deserved my man. The actual grub does nothing for me but that is me and I can not change it but like you said it was a tad pricey.
This is the poshest Fish and Chips I've ever seen, never thought I'd see that kind of food in a fish and chip restaurant, Well done for reaching 20k before the end of the year Greeno, absolutely smashed it and well deserved 👏
As a kid, whiting was my favourite fish. In those days, it was also bigger. I am talking about seventy plus years ago. Overfishing has caused the problem. Having said that, the whole meal looked delicious. And congratulations on the twenty grand.
I really enjoy your vlogs as you give a fair consideration to each mouthful on its own, then tasting with other sides and sauces so thanks for that.I bet its not as easy as it looks, the travel, planning and editing plus the winter weather. Congrats on reaching the 20k mark but I have an idea as to how to bump up the numbers. Why not get an electric motorbike (or blag one) and have Mrs G on pillion or in a sidecar hanging on for dear life? You could have merch... tshirts with a pic of you both riding around Britain. I say this after being referred to vlogs made by London Eats, a full time electrician who vlogs in his spare time when collecting/delivering food and parcels and has 263k members and a huge list of patreons.
I am 100% sure Mrs Greeno would absolutely not sign up for that haha. Glad you enjoy the videos - you are right - it might seem like 20 mins of me eating, but there is an awful lot goes on behind the scenes!!
I would add a point for those scrappy bits of chips, I love those. That fish looked so lovely, I have never had whiting so I think I will try it as I do love cod. So pleased for your 20k, not only before the end of the year, but before Christmas! I have been watching your reviews from when you had less than 2k after seeing your collab with Gary.

You're right about the price of the sardines, delicious though they were. The main course was brilliant value though, and equally as tasty - that peas / curry mix was a revelation!
Portuguese sardines are the best. I find Cornish ones don't have much flavour. Whiting used to be given to the cat in the old days. It all looked delicious. Merry Christmas to you. Thanks for your videos over the year. Tracey x
I remember having barbecued sardines on a Partuguese holiday - fresh out of the sea that morning, and by golly they were delicious!!! Glad you've been enjoying the content :-) Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Firstly, me and the missus Maria, would like to say congrats on the subs, well done. Wife loves sardines, and here in greece they are plentiful. The fish, and uk produce, however, are many of the things we miss..... Dover sole and rocke eel, are favourites too. Your meal looked fantastic, and we think we would have enjoyed the curried mushy peas 😊
Thanks to yourself and Maria for the kind words, much appreciated!! I worked in Hungary for a while, and while I really enjoyed the food, not benig able to get fish and chips, a decent curry etc. did affect me! Luckily there was a little British food shop, so I could go and get a jar of Marmite, or some Bisto granules if I really needed a fix!
There is nothing like locally caught fish. I the summer I visit my cousin in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, where we can often get fresh perch and pickerel right out of Lake Erie. Yummy. Chips cooked in peanut oil are amazing.
Congrats on 20k 😃 Nice to see the variety of fish. Like you, I'd have gone for sardines and whiting (or Dover sole). Not sure what to think about curry mushy peas? Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas

Looked great. Glad you liked it. Saw Gary earlier today reviewed similar said wasn't great. Great work 👏
I know, I guess at leasts it proves we are not in cahoots, cos if we were we would never release fish and chip videos on the same day !! Ho hum :-)
Another great review Greeno ❤
Very kind of you!
Here in Oz, Whiting is probably the 2nd most ordered fish at a Fish & Chip shop, behind Flake (Gummy Shark).
2 types ........ the smaller Sand Whiting then King George Whiting, which is larger (KG is the one you get at a F&C here)
Flavour is exactly as you described, delicate with a hint of sweetness.
Catch them all around the Aussie coast in the sandy shallows especially where there are sea grass (weed) beds.
That's interesting - I suppose most of the fish we see here in fish and chip shops (cod, haddock) are more prevalent in Atlantic waters than round your neck of the woods right?
@@GreenoEats Yep, no such thing as Cod, Haddock, Hake here at all.
Your 🐟 🍟 experience looked far more appealing that Gary’s trip to mother hubbards Mr Greeno
Yep, watched that earlier - I know who's I would prefer to eat!!
BIG CONGRATULATIONS 20K,
NEXT HAPPY 30K,
WELL DESERVED SIR,
Yep, hit one target and then move onto the next :-)
DAMN RIGHT BROTHER, 😉👍
Congrats on 20k Greeno 🎉
Thank you, next stop 25k now haha!!
That meal looked delicious!! Another great review. You deserve your 20k subscribers. 👍
Thanks Paul, much appreciated
Congratulations
Mr greeno keep up all the good things you do.
Keep doing the great videos.
Enjoy your fish chips.
Pricy but if there good worth it.
X🎉🎉🎉.
Thank you so much Ann, your kind words are always appreciated!!
We eat a lot of whiting here in the USA. I love it! It's a common fish to find at seafood restaurants here in the South.
Interesting - I can see why you guys like it, I found it really tasty!
That Chippy is more than just a chippy .. very nice I want to try the mushy peas and curry espy😂 yummy
Yes, it's more a fish restaurant I guess, the mushy peas with curry were an absolute revelation!
We ate at Mitch Tonks restaurant in Dartmouth, I think? Absolutely beautiful food price was a bit salty, but sometimes you have to pay for good food, great content again, Greeno.
I might have to check that place out 🙂
We’ve bought all our fish from Rockfish for a while.
That’s very interesting, thanks for that. I think I will have to try that service in the New Year!
First off. Congrats to getting to 20K. Well deserved my man. The actual grub does nothing for me but that is me and I can not change it but like you said it was a tad pricey.
Thank you David, much appreciated! I think some part of this were pricey, but the actual fish and chips was decent value!
Congratulations on the subscribers greeno
Thanks so much - time to set myself another target right!!
This is the poshest Fish and Chips I've ever seen, never thought I'd see that kind of food in a fish and chip restaurant, Well done for reaching 20k before the end of the year Greeno, absolutely smashed it and well deserved 👏
It was great produce, treated well, which is all you can ask for!
As a kid, whiting was my favourite fish. In those days, it was also bigger. I am talking about seventy plus years ago. Overfishing has caused the problem. Having said that, the whole meal looked delicious. And congratulations on the twenty grand.
Thanks for the kind words. I am going to make an effort to try more of these unfashionable fish where possible, not been disappointed yet!
Rock fish is one of my favourite fish restaurants are used to go quite regularly when my daughter was at Exeter University
It's good isn't it, Mitch Tonks taking his love for fish and applying it to a fish and chips setting - a clever move!
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Well deserved ❤ Would love eat fish and chips again 😊 unlimited chips...my heaven 😂
Thanks Jessi - you are one of the OG subscribers of course!! Thanks for your ongoing support, it's much appreciated!
That looks rather nice. I would give that a go. Superb. Utter wonderful video, greatly appreciate.
Yeah it was good, as always thanks for the kind words Dale!
@GreenoEats your very welcome
You could have my scrappy chips (although normally the kids wolf them down off my plate!) Thanks so much for the kindness, not just now, but having followed so many of my videos in recent months - it's much appreciated!
@@GreenoEats Thank you, people really appreciate you as well, great reviews with humour and honesty. Looking forward to seeing what you do in 2025. Have a great Christmas you and your family!
Love ❤ the menu with the fish 🐟 on it! 😂 we get Whiting in Australiq regularly love the way its presented too Greeno 😊🥰 love the taste 😋 of Whiting too! Another wonderful food review! ❤🎉
Yes, it was an interesting menu with a good variety of fish - delicious!
@GreenoEats we get Whiting here in Australia all the time it's delicious was mums very favourite fish Greeno!
Good review. £12 for a couple of sardines- think how cheap they are in Portugal! Will give the restaurant a try.
Yes, the price of the sardines was an issue for me. The price of the fish and chip absolutely wasn't though!
@@GreenoEatsyes. Overall a good place to visit!
I just love the chips you call scrappy. That looked really good but very pricey for the sardines. The main course was excellent value.
You're right about the price of the sardines, delicious though they were. The main course was brilliant value though, and equally as tasty - that peas / curry mix was a revelation!
I've never had UK fish and chips so it's nice seeing yours!❤
You can live vicariously through my eating adventures :-)
Nice idea regarding the different fish on offer. Dover Sole for me please. Great vlog, cheers Greeno xx
Apparently this is the best time of year to get Dover Sole, I didn't know they had season!
You're becoming quite the popular gentleman!
I'm working on it :-)
Well done on 20k Greeno. Hope you make Chez Fred by 2026 !
I will, I will haha ! I promise I will try and go there in January ok :-)
@@GreenoEats Cheers! Check first, not open Sun & Mond. Closes c.2.30-4.30pm.
@GreenoEats yep. Marmite bisto branston pickles and picallili !!!
Woo hoo 20K. ... congratulations mate, well done.😀🤣😀
Thanks (don't know why this only just popped up on my timeline!)
There is nothing like locally caught fish. I the summer I visit my cousin in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, where we can often get fresh perch and pickerel right out of Lake Erie. Yummy. Chips cooked in peanut oil are amazing.
Sounds great, fresh as they come 🙂
Happy Christmas. I loved the look of that meal and I don't really like fish and chips that much
Thanks Jason, it was a good meal indeed. Merry Christmas to you and yours too!
I like the way the fresh catches were 'ringed' with a fish symbol. Little touches go a long way.
Indeed - and the servers really knew their stuff - where the fish had been caught etc. - attention to detail
Congrats on 20k 😃 Nice to see the variety of fish. Like you, I'd have gone for sardines and whiting (or Dover sole). Not sure what to think about curry mushy peas? Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas
Thanks Graham, much appreciated. Wishing you all the best for the festive season too!
Hi mate have a blessed Christmas and your family
Thank you so much, I wish the same for you!
Hi Greeno! Well that was a step up on the fish + chips Gary had at the shopping centre food court! Haha.
Looked like a very nice meal & full of flavour.
Congratulations again on reaching 20K subscribers. See you on the next one. 🎉☺️
Yes, of the 2 fish and chip places featured yesterday I know which one I would visit, and it’s not the one Gary went to!
@GreenoEats 👍👍
