Can you do a top 10 worst spark plug location I have to do my grandpas 08 Nissan Versa 1.8 and It’s a nightmare
Drowning Mona was a pretty funny movie about Yugo's and Verplanck NY.
Hey Scotty did I make a good buy? I just purchased a 1990 F150 XLT lariat for $1500 and only has 86,000 original miles on it. It steers great, oil is good, transmission fluid was just changed, and fires right up like a charm. I did have to replace the battery and the battery cable clamps due to corrosion but other than that no leaks or nothing!
My grandparents have i think its an 07 model with 340k miles on it. Paint is crap. It's got a v6. Blew a head gasket at 280k. They fixed and haven't had any trans problems.
Also my grandma does not drive slow. She accelerates hard off of most her stops lol
I bought a used 2014 doge caravan with a prnsstser engine had to buy a rebuilt transmission at 96000 miles unfortunately the check engine light came on after it started skipping and towed tit to the dealer and yes ouch $3600 the van value is around $4200
I don’t think enough people say “I was wrong and I’m sorry” - powerful words.
This makes Scott's opinions trustworthy and real.
Right!
I've always said it takes a real man or woman to say im sorry and i was Wrong ! Go scotty :)
I think too many people who say: "I was wrong and I'm sorry", are actually not the ones who should say it.
AND the video was about what was shown in thumbnail.
My parents bought an 06 grand caravan , had 120,000. 90,000 miles later van is still going. Best van for towing , gave me 310 miles before I had to fill up. Lots of trip from Minnesota to texas
Similar story here, starting to think the 06 model was a special breed.
😅 Got a 2006 Chrysler grand caravan 3.3 with 80 000Km, it's now at 220 000Km after 8years of ownership, been changing engine and transmission oil and filter and it has never let me down.
My 2022 toyota sienna gives me 600 miles till empty
My grandpa had around 320,000 miles on his dodge caravan when he got ride of it believe it or not.
That's bc he was a good man...had nothing to do with that vehicle..I bet he even tithes!
I believe it because I've seen it many times on all kinds of different Dodge caravan not so much when they first came out early 90 but any after 2000 they have been good little vans...
I don't know I've seen a few of those V6 Caravans with 3 to 400,000 miles. I was amazed.
My mother in law has an 01 Town and country with over 300K and still going.
Almost bought a new $4000 Yugo in the summer of 1986, but changed my mind after asking why the spare tire was under the front hood. The Yugo dealer touted the spare tire as a safety feature during a front end collision like an air bag. LOL
80’s logic 😂😂
My 1997 with a 3.3 has over 230k now. Original engine and transmission.
Thats cuz its a 1997! Long live 90s cars. The best to ever be built.
My 98 Dodge Ram 1500 has 205k with the original engine and transmission still going strong and so easy to work on and parts still easy to find and not so expensive because it made in American!
Scotty will hate you for that
2002 dodge caravan, still original owner.......
May not own a Chrysler but my 1990 Pontiac has gone 324K on original engine and trans.
Kills me how he rags on Dodge and Chrysler when every single manufacturer has had great and horrible model years, strong years and weak years for quality, and longevity. For being the worst vans ever made they were the number one selling mini van in the world.
They invented minivans.
He has an East Coast mentality in foreign cars are better, truth is they are not. I have a Dodge right now with over 400k on the clock, most of my Jeeps had over 200K before I was thinking about selling them. Chrysler made good products or else the Minivans would have died out decades ago. Hmmm makes you wonder if they are so crappy why people still buy them, the fact is they are good for the price and the quality is good. The issue with the transmission was the solenoid pack that had to be replaced and afterwards it would solve the hard shifts, so again somebody who gave a biased opinion with no true information.
I have an 06 grand caravan it's been a great van. I've had decent luck with every chrysler I've ever owned . I maintain my cars and they work fine and last a decent time. Imagine that!
“Look the front cup holders still work”
Cup holders: CREEKKKKKK
I think they're supposed to ratchet like that but yeah
They arr
They weren't creeking. That's the sound of them opening and closing
Timestamp?
The creaking sound was the normal ratcheting sound from the cup-sizing mechanism.
Dodges come from the factory with the check engine light on!
Rumour has it that the bulb is optional tho.
Standard feature.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol 😆
hahaha,yep.well said.
I have a '95 T&C, 3.8 Ltd. 283k miles, still runs great
That model is from the years that Chrysler still had more quality. So sure it’s still running pretty good!
I've had 3 Dodge Caravans over the years (always bought them used,a couple of years old) and I had very good luck with them. Never a problem with the transmission or engine. All 6 cylinders.
Rust has killed more than mechanical problems.
@@terrystroble8657 You're right about that. Thank god I live in Florida.
My uncle had one that made it to 350k miles and the engine blew. He bought another one for 500 bucks and its still running with 380k miles lol
lmao
I’m at 335k 😎
See this is why I love the Chrysler Dodge brand! I see these vans, same year and build all over the place as if they were just built. These vans have been around forever and to see A LOT of any vehicle still driving around today should be a good sign that’s a good vehicle.
Same I see them everywhere too
I once saw a Yugo in Virginia with specialty tags that said 'DONTBY1' 😋
Damn bro
yugo to the shop every month
@@donoimdono2702
More like every week.
They actually suck! If you want a hatchback, you're better off with an AMC Pacer.
😂😂😂😂😂
My dad had dodge caravan that he used for work that had 300,000 miles and he changed his oil regularly and it just kept going.
He found the unicorn!
@@jdunnatl I only found a unicorn when taking shrooms 😳
I'm on 220 000 Trouble free miles🤷🏽♂️
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again. 😆
😂🤣😆
HAHAHAHA
Hahaha
Had the exact same van (colour and everything), except in nicer condition...but with way more miles! a great van!
Thx again for being so honest.
Another great one Scotty, I always enjoy catching up on your latest videos. The bridge pictured is partly in Denmark, but it's Øresund Bridge/tunnel complex that connects Copenhagen in Denmark with Malmö in Sweden. It carries both a freeway and railway across the sound that separates the two counties. I live in Copenhagen myself. There is a tunnel in the Faroe Islands too though which is about to open as you correctly describe.
I almost busted a gut laughing when you said a guy put two Caddy engines in a Yugo! I remember when they hit the showrooms here and I went to look at one just out of curiosity. 🤪🤣🤣🤣
HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY SCOTTY...!!! YOU ARE AWESOME SIR... !!!
Haha, I mention the Yugo for review and you come up with this. Gotta love it.
My friend had one that lasted 300k+. I was astounded.
The last time I saw a Yugo. ...somebody had turned it into a mailbox for a apartment building!
No kidding!
I've had three of them, used as work vans. I'm cheap like Scotty, but once I learned to pay for a transmission service every two or three years, they stopped failing me. (Scotty, if you read this, tell me whether or not I was just lucky, or if there's something to it.)
“Go take a nap and when you wake up bring yourself back to reality” Brutal! I’m gonna use that one Scotty!!
👍🏿
My sister in law just turned 263000! Just got back from 400 mile day trip.
To the mountains!
Hey Scotty, funny fact about those mini vans are that they were taxi rides for a company I worked for, and those machine ran miles and miles up to 800,000 miles with the same motor and transmission, and that's when T.A. (Taxi Authorities) retired them. You all know how taxi drivers wrecked down any cars so they were pretty well built, the only flaws about them was the cheap gas used by the company. The company bought cheap gas and here in Las Vegas, plus heat, not a good mixer, I saw through a tiny camera those gas tank overheating, making the gas to boiled.
We leased a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager for 5 years, great vehicle for my wife getting the kids around town.
After 5 years is when those things start to break
@@astro6125 My son bought one used with low miles for cheap. Right now it's not running because the voltage regulator is out. Turns out the voltage regulator is incorporated into the ECM. WHYYYYY???
@@tubehound69 i have no clue, their engineering team must have been on crack. They're that cheap for a reason
14 yo caravan 214000 still running v6 same motor and transmission
I’ve had 4 Chrysler vans and have had relatively few problems with mine. My Pontiac Montana van was another story.
U Never Heard ..... Poor...Old ...Nut...Thinks... Its ...A ... Cadillac. " Pontiac" /;-))) /;-))
Hey Scotty, You know what makes a Yugo go faster? A tow truck
Thanks Scotty for your honesty and have a bless day!
This is a car that you can use, change the oil and it will run for years.
Just don't forget to keep adding oil!
I agree. They're over engineered and if you drive them softly they don't strain at all.
@@j.r.ferrerio9940 lmao!
Good to know! My oil light came on and I was wondering if this was normal. Lol
I owned 3 of these beasts since 1996 and never broke down or suffered any major repairs as l do thank a fantastic local mechanic but that's just me Always wanna thank U Scotty for keeping it real
I worked at a Les Schwab Tire Center for a little while doing alignments, and one time I had to work on one of those, and every piece of the suspension, front and back was severely off of alignment. It was a pain to work on but I eventually got it fixed.
Apology accepted and I haven’t even watched the video yet.
Love Scotties enthusiasm 😄
We traded in our 2005 Caravan in 2019 with 255,000 miles and still running. It also had the 2.4 4 cylinder engine--had the original transmission the entire time. Used more oil and some coolant towards the end, but it never stranded us and went everywhere.
LOVE our 2001 Grand Caravan 3.3L. It’s so fast it screams on the interstate. Good pickup too. It has 270,000 miles on it. We’ve drove 65,000 of those. We paid only $68 and we’ve put our own parts on it as things fail. We bought a parts car from the Post Office. Plastic radiator, fan blower, wiper squirter, keyed ignition, blend door actuator, etc. The #1 spark plug breaks every time we change them. Finally, it 20 years old so we no longer have to emission test it in NC. I’d buy these vans every time I found them, all day long. I’m obsessed
Apology accepted 😂
apology noted, acceptance is pending
Acceptance has completed.
@@luke7542 Still pending sir.
Captain Needa
I’ve seen those with 350,000+. The new caravans suck (with the 3.6), but the old ones were hard to beat.
I remember my dad's 06 sxt with the magnum power doors and lift gate, the DVD player and didn't really have any problems. I miss that thing
The frog pic and laugh towards the end cracked me up..🤣
Bro, I have a 2004 Dodge caravan SE and it has 247k miles with only a broken water pump.
water pumps wear out on any car. Normal. The seal/bearing or both.
Thanks for being so honest Scotty :) You should be welcome to visit Denmark to see the tunnel if you want to :)
I had great success with 3.8 with tow package because heavy duty trans cooler. 285k and red one an 318k only failed because of user error. they were both AWD amazing in the snow...
Scotty, would have been interesting if you had used the scan tool on it, to see why the check engine light was on.
I had a 2005 chrysler Town and Country. I bought it from my job for $300 dollars. It had 289,000 miles on ti and was not well taken care of. I lasted 2 1/2 years before I had to get rid of it. I only put a water pump on it and had the original spark plugs changed. It did use oil about a quart every 3 fillups.. When I got rid of it it had almost 400,000 miles. That is when the transmission finally was going out.
My wife had one with 200,000 when she bought it. The transmission went out at around 260,000 miles and after replacement it made it to around 300,000.
1:44 the Fat cat reference made me laugh!🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
275K on my 03 Town & Country Limited. Original engine, fuel pump, and transmission. Big 3.8L motor, none of that 4 cylinder crap. And I have a heavy foot. Had great luck with Mopar vans.
I've got our second van and still going strong at 264k 05 Town and country. Had a 98 same y just traded for a newer one ! Two of the best vehicles we've owned ! 3.6 V-6 dual heat and AC and 24 MPG still ! Really well built ! Bought the first one cuz my friends Dad owns a garage in colorado said buy them cuz they NEVER need worked on and boy was he right !
My friend had a Chrysler van in high school. It was the coolest van ever back then. We took out the back seat and put pillows down, so we could sit in the back and pass the bong around
Did y’all ever have any bitches in there?
@@robertjebediahfreeman yeah, us. We were a bunch of bitches
@@SegwayBossk Lmfao 🤣🤣😂
I knew a guy who had an older Caravan (V-6) for bulk newspaper delivery. He had like 300K on it, He told me the secret was to change the ATF regularly.
That’s any car. I think most drivers out there don’t even know you should change ATF. They’re not much better with oil changes.
@@5roundsrapid263 I think the deal was the Chryslers got a bad rap for shitty auto transmissions though.
when my family grew I needed a bigger vehicle, I purchased a 2003 Grand Caravan, 3 trips across the country and back with a Uhaul trailer attached, I put over 150k miles on it and only had to replace the water pump, great vehicle, kept up with regular routine maintenance.
Are family had two of these growing up and we traveled all over the country and they did great.
2:06 i see a slammed rice rocket in the back lmao.
But the 3.3 v6 and the old 3.0 were good engines.... the transmissions were the worst part
My dad bought this exact van new 2001. Its still runs well with almost 200k miles and burns just a little oil.
I have on '06 of the same van with the V6 engine and it has 170k miles.. Power steering isn't the quietest and the struts are definitely dead, but I haven't put any more work then oil changes every 5k miles and it's my daily commuter.
Hey scotty :) Cool look at the underground tunnel, however, it is not between two towns in the Faroe Islands, but rather between Copenhagen Denmark, and Malmo Sweden. Opened in July 2000, and named Øresund. Drove there once, definetily a cool place to check out if you get the chance. :)
I worked at a dealer for almost 2 years.
We'd get them in on trade 200-400k
2001-2008 models.
With 6 cyl
They ran great and shifted fine.
And you gave them 200-400 dollars. Be honest now.
FINALY a Dodge Minivan i like and that scotty likes, however its still makes my head spin sense we still own a 2005 dodge grand caravan with a 3.8l V6 and it has over 200k miles and we never had to replace the transmission
a lot of them were quite reliable
@@lousmith84 so would a 2000 Dodge Caravan Se with a 3.3L V6 be reliable?
@@mctv6486 Get one. We have two of them with no major problems. Best engine choice in my opinion. Difficult to replace spark plugs, ($350) I have done it myself though, but they last 100.000 miles.

A couple more layers on in Tenn for Scotty. I'd like to see him back in upstate NY.
You looked really happy doing the rest drive. Life in Tennessee is obviously good for you.
Hey Scotty! When I watch your vids at home and my daughter sees you on tv, she says "Rev up your engines!". She's 7 years old. Keep up the good work, sir.
OMG!!: Sotty's still my BEST therapist against boredom!!..

Merry Xmas to you all & families!!🎅🙏🙏🙏
My first vehicle was a 2000 caravan, we used to call it the Man Van. Boy did she have rust but that 4 cylinder was good on gas. 24 per gallon I think which was pretty good for a high schooler when gas was 3.70 a gallon and I made 7.50 an hour. Good times.
I had one with a 3.8 v6 and got 250k without any engine or transmission issues, electrical door issues but nothing else
Where is the “Live Free or Die” sign?, it had been on the top shelf in previous videos. Also noticed fewer wires plugged into that outlet on the right.
I said something about it few videos prior asking if he ever lived there in new hampshire
I have a 2003 Grand Caravan 3.8ltr. 230K miles. I’ve NEVER changed the trans oil,
Don’t plan on it. Shocks and struts replaced twice, same with brakes and calipers. Been through 3 new drivers and have the broken plastic bumpers to show. It’s a beach van, full of sand but keeps rockin!
On second Dodge minivan, No problems but the first EGR kept throwing a code for a pinhole leak somewhere.....been pretty good for us. 2007 and a current 2014.
You're an honorable man Scotty. Straight out the gate you let us know if you have to eat your words.
I thought he was going to say, “he bought it for $2500 and put $80,000 into it...” 😂
Lmao same
Lol😂
I grew up with these little Chrysler/Dodge vans as family cars. I love them.
You don't have to go all the way to Denmark to see that tunnel. We have one right in Hampton Rds/Chesapeake Bay/Virginia Beach VA. It's called the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. And it's awesome.
All you guys haven't even finished the video yet, have some decency
My Dodge Grand Caravan 2006 have 368000 km and it still going strong
That 350z in the background caught my attention. I think I'm in the market for one now.
I bought a 2005 Town and country limited, and it had a lot wrong with it when I bought it, but it had 323,000, and it still ran and the transmission was perfectly fine, supposedly it was all highway mileage from the previous 2 owners traveling back and forth across the country for work
You're still honest, Scotty, and those Dodge Caravans are still CRAP!
Hey, you can't rag on them too much. Family member of mine bought a 1994 20 years as a work van and it still runs and drives. Of course they're going to break if you don't fix them but for their purpose, they're fine. Much better than the Nissan Quest. He traded that '94 Caravan in at 191k last year and got a 2014 Nissan Quest, CVT died at 59k.
Hey I could LIVE in it , far from crap.
My family used to have a 2003 Dodge Caravan. We had it for nearly 10 in half years. It wasen't the best.
However the next time I plan on rasing a large family? I'm getting either Toyota Sequioa or Land Cruiser.
It's about the owner, not the car. But those *are* crap
My daughter drove one back and fourth from Detroit to Traversecity about 350 miles for 2 years when she went to college. I replaced the engine when I got it from a friend. That van ran great for a long time. It had the 6 cylinder, not the 4. My mother in law had a 4 cylinder that she drove for 8 years. After she died, it went to her daughter. Caravans drive forever.

225,000 miles out 0f my 1992 Caravan with zero problems or rust (even in Maine!)....until the head gasket blew.
BUT, it had the rare manual 5 speed transmission. 27 MPG too, carrying heavy tools for years.
I remember the old 90s generation dodge caravan. My family had the 6 cylinder one & it lasted on the road for about 10 years. Then my mom decided to buy the 1st generation Toyota Highlander back in 2001 because it "was brand new" & she decided to get the 4 cylinder rather than the V6.
That highlander is now drivin by me, & I do the oil changes & do my own maintenance & it has a good 265,000 miles on it. Using Castrol high milage

My dad's Rover P6 in the '70s had a 3.5 litre aluminium V8 that Rover got from Oldsmobile I think it was, & it had 125bhp and did 0-60mph in 9 seconds. We thought that was pretty cool back then.....😂 How far we have come indeed.
Originals had 101 horse 2.6 Liter
Yep in the 80s a V8 didnt make that
torque is more important than hp. Its a very low torque engine.
And here am I perfectly happy with my 1.4 litre 75 bhp junkbox 😂
At my friend's garage, the 2 highest millaged cars he works on are both 3.8L caravans. Both have 300k+

Scotty the saying was in my time when the Yugo came out was "You go it stays" lol
the Chesapeake bay bridge-tunnel goes underwater like that Danish bridge. i don't know if you would want to take an old caravan across it!!
I am amazed that the headliner is in such great shape on that van.
Ours is held up with tooth picks from the steakhouse.
Afternoon Scotty! From Weymouth ma!🙏
Hello!
Mine is a rusty 1994 with a V6 that lived a hard life as a work van. I gave 100 bucks for it and it has 300000km on the clock. It has the original everything and not that much service either. But still it runs and shifts better than any car I ever owned. I guess they forgot to tell it that it was a crappy vehicle.
I love old beaters so much. Dogs and firewood inside? Dents and scratches? No worries!
BUT.. fixing those headlights is pretty damn easy, doesn't require special tools, and is a HUGE improvement in security for both the driver and everyone else on the road.
I was waiting on this video, the Caravan (V6) I have experience with has been the best vehicle of my family! Props to Mr. Scotty Kilmer for admitting he was wrong.
I don't even work on cars, I just like watching this channel. 😊
That's one (2002-2007 Caravan) most reliable trusty dependable minivans ever built with 3.3 or 3.8 v6. Simple maintenance will make her run over 500K. Most likely transmission fails because people never change fluid and drive like maniacs. Check wiring to transmission before blaming AT.
