So many intriguing mysteries in the Pokemon universe. How do Pokeballs work? Is Pokemon Training glorified slavery? How easy is it to beat The Elite Four with a Level 5 Mewtwo? Glad the UA-camr community is tackling these difficult questions that have been on everybody's mind for so long.
I will always love Gen 1 bc of nostalgia. What a great game! But i actually hate Mewtwo. I dont remember exactly why other than the simple fact that whenever an opponent uses a pokemon against me, i get my ass beat, but whenever I use that same pokemon, i get my ass beat. Mewtwo, Raichu, and Ditto have betrayed me in Red.
I mean, "What a great game!" is only half a joke lol. I appreciate how unapologetically OP Mewtwo is. They didn't even attempt to balance him, they were just like, "Yeah, he's the ultimate pokemon, prepare to lose."
This was a pretty fun video. Only thing I'd say is that, arguably, Gen 1 Mewtwo is even more OP than Mega Rayquaza. Recall that Gen 1 Mewtwo has base 154 Special Attack AND Defense (54 higher than Rayquaza), base 130 Speed (15 higher than Rayquaza) and perhaps more notably, zero weaknesses in his own generation (Pin Missile doesn't count---all Pokemon who learn it have a stronger move due to STAB). And Gen 1 Amnesia is a +2 to both Special stats... basically Simple Calm Mind. No Special-based Pokemon is harming Mewtwo after one. There's a reason gamers of any era since RBY who are only passingly aware of Pokemon know how OP Mewtwo is. Those kids who would feel like veritable gods using him in the 90s and even early 00s were right. Mewtwo was literally only possible to beat if you froze him and the best odds of that are a 10% chance. Paralysis isn't actually good. "Tobybro" (Surf/Thunder Wave/Amnesia/Rest) was made to counter Mewtwo but the paralysis can bite you if he loses too many turns compared to Slowbro, as that means Slowbro will burn PP faster than Mewtwo. Mega Rayquaza has no counters either but a slew of "checks" (Pokemon that can be used to reasonable degree (or great success, as in Xerneas or faster, strong Pokemon) that can enter AFTER Ray knocks out a Pokemon of yours.
Wow, this is such a thorough comment o_O I think I mentioned it in the video, but I may not have been clear that I DO think that Gen 1 Mewtwo is the strongest pokemon of all time (in the context of its peers); when I said that Mega Rayquaza was "stronger," I meant that if you plopped Mega Raquaza against modern Metwto that Mega Ray would come out on top. I agree that Gen 1 Mewtwo is well and truly unstoppable whereas there are cheesy strats (like scarf Greninja lmao) that you can use to try and counter Mega Rayquaza.
@@ImportedCheese Haha, thanks. :) I actually have had this debate before with friends on the most overpowered (in gameplay, not story) video game character. I've never seen Mega Ray mentioned (recency of the game may be the issue, I suppose) but he is a solid contender. One thing with Pokemon's OP characters (Gen 1 Mewtwo and Mega Ray) are that they're OP in basically anyone's hands. Someone like Akuma (Gouki in JP) in Street Fighter 2 is absolutely broken, but if you're not a pro at the game they're going to be beatable. Mega Ray would be more OP than Gen 1 Mewtwo I think if we didn't have more options that Mewtwo didn't need to contend with. Like you said, you could slap a Scarf on someone like Greninja and you have your counter right there. In RBY there was no such answer to Mewtwo, you needed astronomical luck and a Slowbro to stand a chance.

@@ImportedCheese I mean, I understand why not Poliwrath, since the previous battle there were many water types. But there is no excuse for not having Primeape and having 2 Onix instead. I mean, Agata had to fill with poison type that "fit" since that represented "evil" in gen 1, Lorelei has a Slowbro pokemon to fill and Lance had to use pokemons with the "concept" of dragon. But Bruno, who has the chance to use another fighting type or at least one pokemon with "like" a fighting type (Golem, Marowak or even Sandslash if we risk it) decides not to do it .... what a weird dude is this Bruno....

Did you just _laugh_ at THE Awwhnix?
He makes the run easier!
By being easy XP
@@ImportedCheese Sounds like a The Downgrade sympathizer to me.
Blastoise, I am sorry... bite was the right option but wrong gen.
How do you have the badge boost if you have no gyms
I’ve never had mewtwo as an option to choose at Oaks lab 😢
Our research made it possible
It always seemed very strange to me that Bruno, a fighting type trainer, uses 2 onyx ... I mean, wouldn't it be more logical for him to have a ... I don't know ... a Primeape? or at least a Golem or a Marowak, who can be aesthetically associated with the fighting type, but nope ... 2 onyx.
I think I mention that in my Gen 1 Starter video...like, were Primeape and Poliwrath not good enough for you, Bruno?!
I DIDNT KNEW THAT YOU CAN USE TELEPORT AND JUST LIKE MAKE IT A JOKE OF COMPLETING THE GYMS
I hope I didn't mislead you, if you actually use Teleport without visiting any Pokemon Centers, it just warps you to your house =(
@@ImportedCheese does that mean u clickbated? Xd
amazing
take a shot everytime he says what a great game
What a great game. 😅
"What a great game"
Haha what a great game.
Now do it with Mewtwo staying at level 5 through the entire thing
I don't think that would be possible, sadly. You could probably use Double Team and save states to be "invincible," but you'd run out of PP before being able to actually take down teams =(
@@ImportedCheese either way, great video and I hope your channel expands. You've got some great things going on with your content.
How did you get badge boost glitch with no badges since you teleported straight to Elite 4?
I gave myself the badges! What a cheater!
I thought you gonna make the mewtwo stays lvl 5 for whole fights
cool dude
You get a sub
I lowered your defense, but cured your altered stats. :)
to be fair, (1 - 1/256) rounds to 100% not 99%.
WhAt A GrEaT GaMe
wHaT a gReAT gAmE
Lololol
Do it on the no exp hack so mewtwo stays at level 5 forever
I uh...don't think it would actually be possible in that case without crazy Double Team shenanigans, I don't think you'd actually have enough PP to make it through some of the fights.
I might be wrong though!
What a great... Channel ❤️
Fun fact: mewtwo doesnt learn teleport by level- up
I've never actually played gen 1... Jesus Christ people think this is better than RSE, DPPt and BWB2W2??
What a great game!
You aren't getting a badge boost glitch without the badges though
Good thing I cheated and gave myself the badges anyway!
@@ImportedCheese and they say cheaters never win! Btw, I did a challenge run with just a Raticate, who I tried to beat the game with minimum battles, no over leveling, and I suffered my first ever loss to Bruno lol. And second. And third. And forth. Lol
Step 1: Get a level 5 mewtwo
