    I worked in corrections for 4 years, learned a lot but it was def the worst job I ever had lol. I work on the road now much better and much easier in its own ways.

    I read this novel "Corrupt officer's Guide to Love" it was awesome. It's about a male guard hooking up with a female inmate. Did you hear or see anything like this going on at your prison?

    Hey, I live in Tennessee, but I'm getting ready to start with the Tennessee Department of Corrections; I plan on doing Corrections for the remainder of 2020 and for part of 2021. I will be paying my way (Self Sponsor) to the Police Academy in 2021; Becoming a Police officer is my DREAM!!!!
    But I think that Corrections will look good on my resume, and will also give me some experience under my belt;

    I worked at the Department of Juvenile Justice for 7 years, and then I transitioned last year to the FDOC. It's the best decision I ever made the pay is decent, I work for the State and so the benefits are great. It's not for everyone, but I love what I do and you are right it's better to use respect as opposed to talking to the inmates like they are kids. I work in a maximum security so we have all kinds of inmates. We got murderers, gang bangers, child molesters, rapists, etc. So talking to any of those inmates will get you seriously hurt. When it comes to fights it's usually inmate on inmate most of the time, but doesn't mean that it has not, or will not happen. Pay attention, watch your surroundings at all times. This career is not for everyone, and that's putting it lightly, this career is 4 not for a lot of people which is why there is a high turnover rate. But me I love my career yeah I see a lot of things that you won't normally see in the civilian world but you have to be built for this type of work. If you can't handle seeing violence where someone is beaten to bloody pulp, or can't handle seeing a lot of blood then this job is not for you! It has great benefits, great pay (could be better). But in my opinion I like what I do, and I'm looking forward to retirement.

      Hello hello king and I agree with you when I was there I loved it and it does have a lot to do with the unit that you are at and the supervisor.... it makes a world of difference and like I stated in my video I do not want so ever regret working at the prison it in many ways changed me for the better and I’m not going to say I’ll never go back but at the time I left it was very much needed for me thank you so much for your comment and look forward to many more

    I just finished day 1. It was mostly in-processing. It was extremely calm in one of the female units. I’m assuming everyone is on some sort of lockdown due to COVID. Apparently there’s a bonus for the male unit (Hughes). I hope it’s not that bad over there.

    • @theinconsistentqueen3826
      @theinconsistentqueen3826  4 роки тому +3

      Yeah it just depends on what’s going on and congrats on a successful first day honestly a lot of people all choose to go to Hughes because of the bonus and I’m gonna be completely honest I would wait to get some experience because Hughes is a little rough right now

    Your video is very educating. Today I didn't pass the pistol shooting. I only got 18 out of all my multiple shootings. I don't know if I will be reshooting again by Friday or Monday next week. But please, will I be disqualify if I miss the pistol shooting again? We will be shooting AR15 by Friday. Because I didn't get the pistol today, am crying my eyes out and I've lost some confident bec it was only me in the entire academy that failed the pistol shooting today. Please what do I need to do and know? Thanks

      Hello hello queen and the written test are going to be a lil different because different states have different guidelines so when I registered they gave me a study guide if they do that in Chicago I would definitely look at it and practice because that helped me a lot as far as the physical agility test don’t be worried they go over everything with you and to be honest it’s kind of hard to fail because everything is pretty black-and-white with what you need to do just stay focused don’t over exert yourself make sure that you eat breakfast make sure you’re hydrated because we did have a couple of people pass out because they were so nervous and anxious you got this in a bag please keep me updated

    I have a question for those who have been employed by TDCJ as correctional officers. Which do you prefer - working in male units, or working in female units? Do you have a preference at all? I ask because, of all the officers with whom I have spoken over the years, I don't recall any who have said they prefer working in a female unit. They have all either said they prefer male units, or they don't have a preference at all.

    So I have a question you know I started on the 24th & honey they be lookin like I'm a steak dinner. How do u deal with that also it's a girl in my class that says u suppose 2 speak 2 every inmate. Like is that true because it's a different then being like good morning and dude like hey ms lady what's up with u like with sexual undertones like I really dont know. This is so different it's literally like a different world & omg check point is crazy I never had 2 almost undress and I get it because contraband but dagg. Did u ever have the feeling like omg what am I doing coming from customer service? Then these guys big big GURRRRLLL. I ain't no coward but it's just different. This inmate was like there go my babymama right there & I ain't say nthin. I haven't really spoke 2 any inmate with exception of the ones who have a general like good morning yall or good afternoon not the ones like damn hey what's up with u. Then walking down the hall they was like yeahhhh they gone make it. What does that mean?!

    • @theinconsistentqueen3826
      @theinconsistentqueen3826  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you for following up with me and as far as needing to talk to Every imate I mean yeah I say good morning but you don’t need to hold a full conversation the man in or if it’s a woman should not be speaking to you like that any type away so that definitely deserves a write up and you need to put them in their place they need to know that your there to work and for guidance if need be you’re not there to be a snack or to the eye candy to them

    Hi. So I’m from South Dakota and I applied to be a CEO in a local prison. But I’m only 18 going on 19 in November so I feel like that may be a disadvantage for me. I have one year of pre-law on my academic record in college. I’ve had two interviews with them, the first was with the human resources superior and the second was with her plus the lieutenant and the sergeant. So I feel like that’s a good sign, but I’m nervous. She said she would let me know whether I’m hired or not by next week. I’m nervous that I won’t get the job, But I’m also nervous that I will where do I go from there if I get it? And is it true that they’re always hiring and they’re desperate enough that they would hire an 18 year old?

Now I wanted to ask about the salary like for instance what’s the normal take home after taxes would you assume as I know the starting salary is $3,020 monthly and was curious what a normal take home is if you know? I also wanted to know what have you heard about the Hughes unit as that’s the unit I’m wanting to apply for like what’s the good and bad of that unit? Lastly I liked how you talked about your style as I’m the same way as I was a Detention Deputy with the Denton County Sheriffs here in Texas and it’s rare to see Officers like you and we need more of them! Thank wand look forward to your reply and stay safe

      first of foremost thank you so much for the love and the comment on a video and mines after taxes is 2,196 and that is after they take out the taxis and your retirement and the list goes on and on and on so the check is still pretty decent you just got to get used to getting paid once a month because we start at CO3 and after 15 months you’ll get CO4 Hughes is a little bit of a different area because you’re working with men but in the same token you still want to follow the treating people like you want to be treated don’t let them run all over you because you are a woman and a men’s prison can I have to have a different aura about yourself but whether you work in a female or a men’s unit it’s all still the same the man just like to work out all day and thank you for understanding my point of you not everyone does sometimes and like to classify us as a imate lover but that’s not the case whatsoever it’s called being security minded and being a human but I definitely love commenting back to people in again thank you for taking the time to comment
