Exterior Walls & Ceiling | EASY DIY Insulation

Did you know insulation is an easy (although somewhat itchy) DIY project that anyone can tackle?!
In this video you can watch the easy insulation process of our garage exterior walls and ceiling. For your insulation project don't forget to spray foam around your doors and windows! The benefits of insulating a garage are temperature control, both in winter and summer, and sound proofing or noise reduction. For us, completing the garage insulation created a working space for winter projects and inevitably more space to store all the stuff. Seriously, where does all this sh*t come from?! Oh yea.. all the projects I'll be 'getting around to' eventually..
This is an simple, forgiving project for any skill level and the tools required are minimal! What I used: R-20 insulation (exterior walls), R-40 insulation (ceiling), spray foam insulation (gaps & cracks), sharp utility knife, tape measure, square, ladder and scaffolding for the dormer ceiling. And don't forget your PPE - protect your eyes and lungs with a mask and safety glasses.
Not included in this video: after you insulate be sure to install vapour barrier before any drywall or sheeting.

Doesn't outside air leak in from the actual garage doors?

The garage doors are insulated and installed with weather stripping which goes a long way to seal the space and help with climate control.
