- Ukraine has reportedly lost its first U.S.-made Patriot air defence system battery during the war against Russia. The incident took place on March 9 and the Russian Defence Ministry released a video of the destruction of the Ukrainian vehicle, claiming it to be a S-300 system. However, several war trackers on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared 'proof' that German-supplied M901 launchers for the MIM-104 PAC-2 mobile Patriot air defence system were destroyed by a Russian Iskander hypersonic missile in the video. A Patriot battery costs 2 billion dollars and a Russian Iskander 1 million. Seems like a fair exchange.
Iskander produced by state, not business, so de facto it cost almost nothing, only salary to workers. In several times less than 1 million.
