FIFA claims the world cup in Qatar is "carbon neutral" 🤔

Last year, FIFA released a greenhouse gas accounting report for Qatar's World Cup, estimating that the tournament's carbon footprint would total 3.6 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.
But climate groups aren't buying it. We spoke to Khaled Diab of Carbon Market Watch, an organization that earlier this year released a report challenging Qatar and FIFA's sustainability claims. We also talked to climate economist Danny Cullenward about Qatar's reliance on carbon offsetting as a means of achieving "net-zero" emissions.

Qatar, the place that has air conditions OUTSIDE, is running a carbon neutral operation? Yeah and I'm the King of England.
Also don't forget that the long-term purpose is to promote qatar as a place for luxury tourism. Even if carbon offsets were better and the world cup itself was neutral, the long term goal is in direct conflict with carbon neutrality.
This whole thing is a disaster for humankind. It's telling common people that corruption triumphs over morality and climate change doesn't matter to the rich. It's the perfect excuse for normal people to not to care about their own impact.
All the carbon in thoses dead workers' body was returned back to the soil
We could also stop flying all over the world for sports in general. It is unnecessary to travel for entertainment when we are harming our environment in the process. Not to mention, how much trash is being generated by these events? Where does that trash end up?
Getting pissed off at FIFA or the IOC is a waste of time. Tell me how we fix the problem. (Roll up your sleeves and put your money where your mouth is.)
I’m letting my electric company know I planted trees and demanding my electric bill be reduced for my carbon offsets. Reference them to GCC of DOHA. fcol.
