Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center Museum in Fort Pierre would've been worth mentioning. Casey Tibbs was a world champion rodeo cowboy in the 1940s and 50s.

I am from here and a great deal of my family still lives here. I love seeing anything featuring my home state and especially my hometown, but I gotta say, most of the places in this video are 100% pronounced wrong. Specifically the dam should have at least been Oahe(Oh-Wah-Hee) and La Framboise(La-Frahm-Boys) didn't even have the correct spelling in the video. And if you had actually been through here, you sure would have found out how to pronounce Pierre(Peer), its not fancy. Thats all I got, otherwise, cool video.

@@601TRAVELS Don,t worry, I'm a French Canadian living in Pierre and everybody confuse me with their different way to say those names. 15 years sharing SD family, 10 years living in Pierre area and still... Pierre, La Framboise, Brûlé, Vérendrye - all French names - are still sounding really far from their origin. Don't get me started on Oahe, heard some many version that I don't take chance anymore: The place with the race track? Top of the Dam? You know... and they do, with their own twists. Ugghh... Good video, wanted to bait some of my people from Canada to come explore how amazing of a place Pierre is, you helped showcase some of it. Add Zesto and we are talking!!! :-D

@@601TRAVELS from my understanding it’s pronounced peer because the Norwegians and Germans couldn’t pronounce it as pier-ehr so ended up sticking with peer.
No, never, Pierre is never pronounced that way, not in English or French. You can keep pronouncing it wrong (Peer) but the way she said it is the correct way. Idk why South Dakota wanted to butcher that name so hard
@@601TRAVELS Peer is correct (Pier sounds the same to me). Not sure why it's that way, but it is accurate that it's pronounced like that. There are so many examples of words being pronounced differently than you'd think, though.
I grew up in pierre. I never want to go back. There is a reason it was the suicide capital of the nation at one point.
