The sheer bravery it took to come out and speak openly about this debilitating illness..... Joe, you're nothing less than a Hero!
Such an important message. My heart goes out to you both. Stay strong. As a fellow survivor I know the strain it can put on a marriage. Try to forgive her as I try to forgive my feckless uncaring wife.
I swear every time I get man flu and I think I'm overreacting I come back to this video and I'm reminded how serious it is ❤
As I sit here suffering from this awful affliction, I can't help but feel hopeful that maybe one day, I might be as strong as Joe. I've gotten over the worst of it now and am in recovery. Thank you for this inspiring video, it came at a time of great need for me.
Stay strong brother.
It makes me mad that women just can not grasp the seriousness of this illness, more education on the long term affects is needed.
I think I just stood in front of Joe in Aldi now, to say I was star struck wouldn't cover it! Great to see him doing well in his recovery . 👏
It brought a tear to my eye! This horrible illness needs more of this kind of awareness...well done!
Such a touching and heart warming video :'(
Love the bin and washing up part ... hilarious. .. anything to get out of chores hahahaha. ...!!!
I have Man-flu. But I'm going to fight it. This video is so so instructive and helps women understand better the silent pain we go through.
I so relate to this. I have a dose of it myself right now. I just don't understand how my wife was so negligent to let me get this!
She didn't validate you when you described your symptoms.
Bless ya Joe, all our thoughts are with you....be strong
My favorite video on UA-cam, period. So well done.
My thoughts are with ye both at this terrible time, hope you get back to good health soon...
He's very brave and quite lucky to have such a supportive woman. I hope the two of them pull through.
I'm suffering from manflu right now, it really helps to know there are others out there who have got through it & aren't afraid to speak about it. Truly inspiring, thank you.
I would not wish the terrible affliction of man flu on anyone, no matter how much I might hate them.
Sometimes it's so hard to bear everything we men have to go through. WHY haven't NHS set up a priority department in A&E for this horrifying disease already??
Vrex622 The sad thing is, people laugh it off. Even when the evidence is blatantly shown to them like this. Hopefully one day there will be an awakening and a movement which finally leads to us men being heard.
In the meantime, please, stay strong.
best manflu video I've seen on the net, excellent stuff guys... so funny and so irish! :-)
This is absolutely brilliant, the acting and timing are spot on, great job folks!
Be strong Joe
I'm now going tru what he went tru. Taking one day at a time. It's so true.
That poor guy, only managing 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I really feel for him :(
so so sad, hopefully he gets better soon
Classic in the making here folks. Well done on this account of manflu.
I'm gonna watch this over and over again, and I might, now only MIGHT, show the wife. I'll have to make sure she'll be strong enough to watch it. She will be devastated.
This just has the tears rolling down my cheeks everytime. A tremendous bit of acting by Johnny but how Deirdre manages to keep a straight face is worth an oscar. I wonder how many takes this took to make. :)
No it isn't just an Irish thing - men worldwide are seriously affected by it. This man is very lucky having such an understanding partner, many of us are scoffed at when we get it - Often by female partners who themselves make a such a fuss over a natural thing like childbirth - and get quite annoyed when we remind them that we didn't carry on like they're doing when we did our bit nine months previously. It's sometimes very difficult being a man.
Very Informative..... sorry got to rush now as my man appears to have Manflu he is lying on sofa and cant reach the remote for tv... Best get it for him. Bless him.
This is the saddest video on UA-cam. I'll be thinking about this poor guy all the time now.
This is hilarious!! Hopefully the man flu won't prevent you from doing more stand up gigs, haha!! =P
@ThePoppydee You are leading the way and are a shining light for others. Your husband will thank you properly when he is recovered. Now, he must rest.
Total rest and no house work is the only reliable cure.
A warning to all - this video is highly contagious, I only watched this once and have caught the deadly manflu
Brilliant. Its video's like this that gives us all hope and puts the pint over on how serious man flu is. I had a bout not long ago. I was put on anti biotics and bed rest.
I could only watch a little of this ,, it was too painful,, brought back my recant bout of manflu.
be strong Joe ,, with Mary's love you can get through this.
Outstanding acting. You played it totally straight and you nailed it. Well done all involved, Great stuff.
Tragic, just tragic. He has my deepest sympathies. More needs to be done about the man fly virus. I must feel there is not enough research
This is just the best video on You Tube - ever !!!
I saw action in the gulf war and I don't think I could survive man flu. This is a truly inspiring story
@thepumpdontwork Thanks very much, good to hear the other medical condition didn't develop fully! They were both fantastic at the roles alright, they're a married couple, so their timing and interaction was very natural, great job by them
I think i cried laughing a few times, too funny, poor joe, makes me realize how important life is.
great job. only getting 7 -8 hrs sleep was the best line
funniest thing I have seen in years - well done!!
At last a proper understanding...
Thanks for sharing this invaluable health information. I actually thought a few Lempsip would shake it off in 2 or 3 days, but the recovery rate is obviously much longer. I have certainly learned to be more sympathetic to men who are going through this.
I also am going through the Hell of manflu,God bless you Joe for making this for what must have been a very difficult thing to do.
I just hope I'm as lucky.
ha ha ha this is Brilliant, great acting!!
Excellent.....this is absolutely hilarious. Fair play guys, how you kept a straight face is beyond me. Love the humour on the subject, my husband will have a field day with this (",)
"Oh no, women can't get man-flu" LOL LOL And men can't take out the bins cause the flu flares up LOL LOL
I always call the undertaker to prepare everything when I get the first signs of manflu. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.
Brilliant! You must watch this if you know a man who has, or who has ever had the dreaded "Manflu"
Congratulations to the actors and all involved!
Finally this dibilatating condition is getting a voice, Thank You
"..had awful thickening in mi throat, i had sore bones, high temperature..,very bad temperature....,i wasn't able to function."
Did you go to the doctor?
No..,Mary said there was no need. LOL. (jaysus!, what more hints do you need) This had me in stitches.
Could we erect a monument to all man flu survivors. It would act as a reminder of the suffering generations of men have gone through and not all made it out the other side.
@LavishCreative Yes the word needs to be spread about this, I have found from my own experience that watching football in front of a nice fire, with a pint and a bacon sandwich tends to mitigate the worst effects of manflu. However, the danger of relapse by doing something like housework is a real danger.
Unbelievable! Well done. That was totally mantastic!!!
Ah sure god love him. He looks delicate enough alright. Glad to see he has a supporting wife to nurse him back to health as is only right. A tipp man i'd say?
this is so funny and how you both kept a straight face is amazing shared everywhere lol
This is not acting, this is a true story
I know how you feel buddy...I'm suffering this at the minute and cannot be sure if I'll wake up in the morning...God I hope they can call me a man flu survivor! :(
one of them put a nice dvd on for me -- brilliant
Brilliant. And true....
Excellent job, sooooo funny, in knots I was.. HOW yee kept a straight face is beyond me :)
that was excellent and very funny, great acting and deliver.
Please tell all women about how serious this condition is for us men. Its so serious that noe female will ever understand just how bad this is and gets to us that have this terrible and debilitating illness. It lasts for weeks and can flare up at any time that we are asked to do something and we will have to sit and rest and recover as the thought of doing the job can be disastrous. Good luck my friend... Achhhhhhooooooo
I had 4 nurses round me, one of them gave me lemsip, one put on a lovely DVD and one wrote on my forehead............hahahahahaha
Really loved it. Well done.
I know exactly how he feels I have had this terrible ManFlu as well, all the same symptoms, it was touch and go as to whether I could get to the pub but I managed, I didn't want my wife to get upset so I was incredibly brave and hid my suffering.
We should set up a support group for man-flu survivors
outstanding video. can't say anything else about it except fantastic
I to have contracted the man flu, the symptoms came on rapidly through the early hours , the sad thing is I to survived it 4 years back but the marriage didn't make it as my ex wife was of the same carefree attitude as Mary in this video !!
So fighting it alone this time , my nose looks like Ronald McDonald and I just hope I can make it through this time ... 🙏
brilliant loved this..
@dalymc I know, they're an actual married couple and they were both fantastic. Neither of them are actors, but they were both superb!
Very good acting on this!
Absolutely hilarious!! Sharing!!!
We should setup a charity for the survivors of the nearly fatal illness - man flu. Its just heartbreaking.
serious stuff.so glad he made it
@Shmulvey Thanks very much! We appreciate the comment. You're right, if we had done it in any other way than completely straight and serious, it wouldn't have had the same results, Johnny Graham and his wife played the couple and they were brilliant, nearly each shot was done in one take, makes the work easy!
This is fantastic!
pure black irish comedy at its besht!!!!!!
Brilliant vid lads
This is superb!!!
@deefed1 Thanks very much, glad you liked it :)

@owenzey It's okay, he was put to sleep immediately after filming finished. He's in the great A&E waiting room in the sky now.
