If anything needs a sequel it’s this, one of the best action comedies I’ve ever seen
Both Gosling and Crowe want to do another.
Sadly it was a box office flop.
Studios take little to no risk these days
so I dont see a sequel anytime soon
@@danhay8933 it deserved to make 10x it’s budget, so messed up.
@@TanWam considering it cost 50mil ,and only grossed 63mil at the box office, was a travesty
That would be awesome. Like a few years later in the beginning of the 80’s could be hilarious.
Nah, Shane Black has a habit of catching lightning in a bottle and then blowing absolute shit in his next movie. The Nice Guys is one of his "lucky" movies. A follow up would be nothing short of disappointing. The whole reason that movie is good is because the slow-burn frenemies turned buddies.
The Nice Guys is one of those movies that gets better with every watch. So underrated.
Absolutely agree. I've only watched it once and I only really started laughing properly near the end, but the more I thought back to previous scenes the funnier it would get.
The scene where Gosling punches through the glass door! Always takes me out
That's a lot of blood!
Rolling at that scene lol
The cut to him in the ambulance!😂 what a great flick
The scene where they drop the dead body on the dinner party is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in a movie
I was questioning the mermaids! What were you doing while I was working?!?
this is a film that just genuinely gets better on each re-watch, i recommend Kiss Kiss Bang Bang from 2005 to anyone who hasn't seen it, same director, similar vibe to Nice Guys & almost as great.
I actually like kiss kiss bang bang better. The writing and comedy in both are good but I thought the story in kiss kiss bang bang was better.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a terrible movie! 😂
Should've known that! They belong side-by-side on the same shelf. Add the originsl "The In-laws" belongs there, too.
You! Stop multiplying!
KKBB > The Nice Guys even though I love both.
Gosling screaming in pain from his arm is comedy gold
This movie is pure chaos but also so intricately structured it's unbelievable how well it works. Just absolutely incredible.
Saw the nice guys in theaters twice. Absolutely loved it.
It was one of the only movies I burst out laughing in the Theatre.
Gross
So it was so nice you saw it twice?
Very Underrated Movie. Can’t stop watching it
Where the links folks I want to watch this movie
It's too bad it lost money, because a sequel would have been great
Go and watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and then Last Boy Scout.
See the upscale.
It was rated 18+ that's wahy
This move was so funny and so well written. Love the chemistry between the two leads 👌
Shane Black. That's the reason the movie is amazing. He's made (mostly) top tier movies. They did rope him into making a Marvel film, and that sucks - but sucks less than other Marvel films.
If you liked this.... PLEASE check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Very similar vibe to this film. Sleazy, funny, unconventional.
@@DPMusicStudioI thought iron man 3 was solid. Has the trademark Shane Black fight scenes that are actually engaging to watch and have intelligence. I honestly don't know what the hell happened with the predator movie he made. That seemed like it should have been a slam dunk for him and I don't think the studio interference fully excuses how terrible it was.
I saw this in an empty theater. I thought i was crazy for LOVING this movie.
I couldn’t breathe when Gosling punched through the glass.
The way this movie was marketed did not match the absurdist tone. It’s a real gem of a film, passing for a goofy period comedy, but it’s one of the most bonkers movies from a narrative standpoint. I love the fact that the kid literally said the truth, but it sounded so absurd we as the audience dismissed it as a throwaway joke. Both Crowe and Gosling are hilarious and they pulled it off really well. I believe this is going to be one of these cult films which finds its audience through word of mouth, similarly to The Big Lebowski (which wasn’t a hit upon release).
Rented it, loved it, bought it the next day. Have probably watched three dozen times at least. Absolutely underrated.
Ryan Gosling channeling his inner Lou Costello will never not be hilarious 😂
Great freaking movie. I have seen it 3 times and love it. Me and a buddy who just had a partial heart transplant saw it in the theatre while he was recovering and he almost literally died laughing watching it.
Nice Guys is easily top 5 re-watchable movies for me. I recommend it to all my friends. Also big ups for Peter Gunn. Great show. Created by Blake Edwards and music composed by Henry Mancini. Cant get any better than that. Watchable just for the music alone.
This is literally one of my top 10 films of all time. It’s so hilarious and rewatchable and even has heartfelt moments despite being mainly comedic. Some of the deaths were played for laughs but somehow still felt kind of tragic. It was this perfect balance of elements and I loved every second of it 😂😂
Such a funny movie! The chemistry between Gosling and Crow is phenomenal...😂
I'm the same way with Nice Guys. Recommend it to everyone. Watched it in the theater and every time I find its on. Just a great nostalgic comedy.
“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” also, a really great funny take on this genre that Shane Black has really carved out for himself. Plus, Los Angeles in the past, Perfect.
It's not the high pitch screams for me its the way he does the "No, nnnno!" like it's so perfect xD
I only watched this movie quite recently and I was pleasantly surprised. It had a sorta 'In Bruges' vibe to it.
Word. _In Bruges_ actually took me two watches to love. Liked it at first, loved it second, fucked with it the third
Really? In Bruges is way more serious and depressing. I just compare the nice guys to lethal weapon since it's the same director
If you lot like In Bruges, there's a short film by the same director on youtube called Six Shooter, it's got Brendan Gleeson in it as well.
@@stephengrigg5988 It is not the same director. It's the same writer.
In Bruges and The Nice Guys are both amazing.
Saw it at the theater too!
I used to not like Ryan Gosling for some reason but after this movie I became a huge fan he’s awesome!
It wasn't an arty flick or rom com. It was a good old fashioned, balls-out '80s style buddy cop type of flick. (set in the '70s) Shane Black back to his Lethal Weapon best.
Everyone thought Gosling was just the pretty boy from that chick flick "The Notebook" and the Mickey Mouse Club
He was kinda just the hot generic guy. Actually seeing him show his comedic chops is amazing
How could you not like Gosling, such a great actor and likeable dude, I might be a bit biased because my all time favorite movie of all time is Drive
Probably cuz hes a pretty boy but hes really talented and surprisingly very funny. I became a legit fan after watching this movie.
So many scenes from this film live in my mind rent-free.
To everyone saying "Where can I watch this?" ... PHYSICAL MEDIA. Don't let the streaming services decide when to take things away... buy your favorites on blu-ray and DVD and own them for life. It's better to own than rent.
If there is any sequel audiences crave and would welcome with open arms, it's a sequel to this awesome movie.
*Edit---The dead guy leaning on the tree is a cameo by Robert Downey Jr. 😂
fuck to the yes
first one was set in the early 70s so you can easily have the time difference handled by setting the next one in the mid/late 80s
"Audiences crave"? Definitely not. The whole reason this movie failed at the box office and didn't get a sequel is because it didn't have a big enough audience and enough people didn't go see this. What you meant to say is, "If there's any sequel fans crave."
@@Largentina. No. I didn't mean that at all.
@@PhantomFilmAustralia Then what you said is objectively incorrect.
@@Largentina. Realize that movies can gain a mass following after their theater release. _Shawshank_ and _Fight Club_ are two of many examples which were box office bombs with later acquired massive fan followings, making your argument moot.
I saw this in the theatre. I've watched it 3x now. This and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang great underrated movies.
YES!! These two are both under the radar awesome dark comedies.
"It feels like a Smurf jizzed in my fuckin face!" That line still cracks me up.
I love this movie. My favorite moment is when he says "did I dream that?" If anyone has recommendations for movies with this same vibe please let me know. I hope now that Barbie came out and was a huge hit we will see Ryan in more comedic roles. He is so funny in interviews too.
Have you seen him in the big short?
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with the same writer/director
As someone already said around here, The Big Lebowski. The amount of wit and lighting jokes will make you watch it a thousand times to get them all. Also arrested development. It's a series and the humor is barely lighter. But just as innovative.
For such an epic re-watchable comedy. It bombed.
This film is a certified classic
Genuinely a GREAT movie. I laughed out loud more than most comedies.
UA-cam not giving me notifications when you post even though I hit the bell. Glad to see you're still at it my guy!
One of the only movies I bought on amazon prime, go back to it every year.
Incredible film, any time someone asks for a movie recommendation there's a good chance I'm gonna recommend The Nice Guys
I thought for sure this movie would be a fucking franchise, the ending perfectly set up at least one sequel so it's disappointing how people just seemed to forget this movie exists. Shane Black directed the shit outta this movie and had some serious talent in front and behind the camera as well. The little girl was also outstanding, she had some hilarious lines! I really liked one moment where her and Gosling were standing outside of their house where a tree had fallen through their window, and after she mentions something about hating that tree Gosling responds with, "Never trusted it," and the girl laughs. It looks like that was improvised and Gosling actually made her laugh just by the way she was looking at him, but they kept it in the movie and it fucking owns! This movie is yet another reason why The Predator being so awful shocked the hell outta most fans of Shane Black movies, because the guy has a serious talent for making banger flicks. Or at least I think he does, because off the top of my head I can think of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and this as being top tier cinema. Glad you uploaded this, good to know there are plenty of people who do appreciate this fantastic flick.
This movie was pure gold.
thanks to the cinematic masterpiece that is the angry birds movie, we still haven't got a sequel to The Nice Guys.
fuckin fantastic.
Wait how
thanks for bringing this vid back izzy
One of the best movie experiences ever
One of the most underrated films ever!!
Love this movie. They are great on screen together.
OF COURSE Bill, my hero, loves The Nice Guys. I’ve been telling people about this movie forever. Why won’t he just be my best friend already 😩
I've been on a bit of a Bill Burr appreciation thing lately - most of his career haven't been bothered, but this, another level. So right of course. Shame they didn't spin it off into a series of movies, they would have made so much money.
always killin it Izzy
Probably the funniest movie I’ve seen in a while
I have watched this movie at least 30 times and it never gets old- perfect movie
Best buddy cop movie in recent years.
I just finished watching the movie because of this video. Excellent! It's on Netflix now.
Ryan Gosling kills it in this movie
I’ve literally watched this movie more than 100 times
No joke
love this movie, saw it on a flight for the first time, laughing out loud, people looking at me crazy
My favorite line if so many was the bartender when Criwe asks him " dud you see him get on the elevator?"
"No it was told to me by a wise old Indian".
I belly laughed in the theater.
This movie was so good, it’s one of those movies you like and tell people about how good it is and they say, never heard of it… travesty
Highly underrated indeed.
The ONLY movie that EVERY TIME I watch it, I laugh at something different
Crow went full Jim Brewer for that line...
My best friend and I went to see this and Green Room that year and they were our favorites then.
"Is that a pig?"
"No? It's a purple cow"
This is a great film that deserves a 2nd film.
It was supposed to, but, ya know... today's kids...
@@urosmarjanovic663 When was it supposed to?
@@Largentina. I kinda got that impression during the final scene when they revealed their new agency.
@@urosmarjanovic663 You're confusing the differences between leaving a film open to a sequel if need be and planning for one. Which is what "supposed to" implies. According to Shane Black, a sequel was never planned. He said that if the movie makes enough money (it didn't), that he would think about maybe doing one. He put the scene at the end just in case the film ended up being a successful enough to get a sequel. But no, it was never "supposed to" get a sequel. Something tells me you don't know alot about screenwriting.
This movie is fantastic and an absolute classic, and stuff.
Nice Guys and KISS KISS BANG BANG are gold. Both Shane Black movies.
Ryan goslings physical comedy in this is incredible
Sounded like gosling was low key doing a Mexican grito/shout when he got that spiral fracture of the left radius.
“Yeah… feels great”
I remember seeing a trailer for it in 2016 and had zero interest to see it so I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was watching it 8 years later. One of the few great comedies to come out in the last decade.
I saw this on a plane from Detroit to San Diego years ago and it was fucking great.
It's definitely one of the top 5 comedies.
Absolutely phenomenal film
Ryan’s screaming whenever Crowe breaks his finger ? Arm ? Wrist I’m not sure but it’s hilarious
great editing of putting the clips right there!
This movie is criminally underrated.
tremendous movie. one of my favorites
Nice guys is a great one.. it's on hulu I think
I feel such vindication hearing Bill Burr talk up this movie. It feels like no one has seen it and those who did just don't care, but it is a genuinely great film.
"It's not on Netflix" It is now!! Go, watch, now
I just got done watching this movie. I have to say, I laughed all the way through.
Finally on Netflix 🤣🤣
This is why I own it on DVD.
Such a good movie
More people also need to see Under The Silver Lake.
That movie is great... Love Ryan Gosling as a comedic actor
Watching it now on Netflix in Australia
This and kiss kiss bang bang need sequels
One of my favourite movies. So incredibly funny
The nice guys just arrived on Netflix yesterday!
warparty throw back!
People forget Gosling started out as a comedic actor on shit like Breaker High.
Underrated gem
I really liked Nice Guys when it came out on DVD I watched it over and over
This movie is the unrelated Big Lebowski 2
The Film Noir plot line is a fantastic vehicle for comedy.
Billy Burr has more cash than god, but I can see him complaining about having to cough up an additional six bucks of his Mandalorian money to Amazon Prime to rent a movie not included in membership. 🤣
nice, it’s now on Netflix
FYI - The Nice Guys is now finally on Netflix...
Fantastic movie....Good old fashion 🎬 acting 👌
Great movie. Saw it in theatre... Does Bill Burr not have a DVD player..?
This movie is sooo good.
We get remakes of movies and TV shows from ten years ago when we should be getting "Nice Guys 2: Almost Nicer Than Before But Not Quite"!
You know you’re a boomer when you use a Kodi icon instead of like a Utorrent one lol.
Great movie that needs a sequel.
