- Lisa McGee mined her own experiences to create a comedy, set against the backdrop of the Troubles in 1990s Derry, of unique authenticity and warmth that has struck a real chord with the public. After only one season McGee’s wonderful characters have already achieved an iconic status in the world of TV comedy. Here McGee and cast members Nicola Coughlan (Clare), Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin), Dylan Llewellyn (James), Louisa Harland (Orla) and Siobhan McSweeney (Sister Michael) talk about the comic genius of Derry Girls.

The fact that Dylan actually responded to James though.
Derry Girls is great, such an underrated series. The second series' ending was genuinely brilliant.
Yeah right...the writing is tight and beautiful...big fan from India
I know right!! Big fan from the Philippines as well. Such an amazing show
"Orla exists and I've met her" well, damn, now I want to meet her
Doesn't it make you sooo curious?? :)
I am from Brazil and Derry Girls remains one of my all-time favorite comedies.
Seven seasons and a movie.
Ive genuinely adored the shit out of this show since it started and watching this interview and seeing them as their authentic selves just makes me love it even more.
From SINGAPORE.. an instantaneously admirable and addictive series. Saoirse-Monica Jackson at a crossroad in life's journey , probably all the cast and writer too.
It’s true her writing is so well crafted
I love Derry girls especially sister micheal. She's just great. Love it.
I have to say as Englishwoman with strong Irish connections this show is purely fantastic ....I love it 🥰 truly brilliant comedy that makes me belly laugh
I'm so happy for their success. I hope all of them get their chance for more exposure.
Awww, the wee English fella is so adorable. Michelle is probably drunk somewhere! lol Derry Girl fan here from Asia! :)
I hope she isn't leaving the show. On so many TV appearances and interviews, she's hardly ever present... She's my favorite too!!

Lost count of the number of times I've watched each episode over and over...the series has literally set a new benchmark for comedy genre... Even southpark pales in comparison... The only other series that was this addictive was yes Minister / prime minister... Platinum standard comedy shows
It’s one of the best things I’ve ever watched.
Technically.. it’s one of the best things _anyone_ will ever watch.
@@Neddoest true... I'm a man, but this series makes me want to go back to my high school years... God, they really were some of the best years of my life.... Same headlines - war, diseases, crude oil crisis... Should we side with Russia or the US. And we were like - so what's the plan for this weekend guys? It's the last one before the mid - terms kick in!
Mid - terms, they were our 'global crisis' 🤣.
What a beautiful and simple time! 🍻
@@Neddoest just 7 days to go until season 3 premiers! 🍻
@@thewildstreak1 i know! Can’t wait 🙃
I discovered this show a year ago but it wasn't until 2 weeks ago that I've gotten around to watching it. This show is phenomenal! As a child who grew up in the 90s and educated at a co-ed catholic school, I'm so happy to watch a show that brought back happy memories. I hope there will be more seasons to come. Cheers from the Philippines. :)
Love the show and the cast. Please keep this show going for another few decades :)
so true Siobhan! I'm a Derry girl after watching.

Come on BFI. The audio, lighting and camera work here are very poor.
Yes, the audio is so bad I had to access the English captions just to be sure I didn’t miss anything lol
Shocking Quality
Ive only seen clips from UA-cam bc I cant watch the series inthe USA, but im obsessed with the show anyway❤

"(Ride) is a noun and a verb. It's wonderful." 😂😂😂
Need to find out ... thanks for posting. Always good to see a woman's point of view, methinks. Nan always referred to almost anything as The Troubles. Ah, the word BANTER. Such fun. Fearsome nan, Katie would be proud. Even meeting Irish people in Cyprus remembered by so called fearsome nan!
i wanted to see the clips lol i love this show seen it a bunch. from california.
what's with the audio reeeeeeeeee
American fan right here! Love this show (had to turn in subtitles for the accents tho 😅😅)
A Q&A with Peter Lorre and Spencer Tracy
It’s like a live action slice of life anime about a group of girls.....
The thing ah like aboot Derry gerls, they’re kind ay square pegs/round holes types
Why Michelle's never in the interviews?
Honestly I live very close to Derry
Wave at a Derry Nun for me, but from a safe place.
