if Anthony is a raging alcoholic I would be called "dead" then, if there's degrees to this thing. so having a couple beers on a Wednesday night after a day of work is far from "alcoholic".

Yeah but for a vast majority of people, that number of casual Wednesday night brews isnt going to be static forever. It slowly creeps up as you need to drink more to get the same effect. "Functional alcoholic" is a stage of alcoholism, not a type of alcoholism.
