Suzuki is getting the most deployment out of anyone on this list and is carrying a team which realistically should be bottom 3 in the nhl. I don’t see how you can put Bo Horvat, Larkin, and even MS in a whole tier above him.
Again I said Suzuki would be the next guy up from that tier. Also yes I am easily taking more established guys like Horvat, Larkin and Scheifele over him the tier has to end somewhere.
He really hasn’t been great. Rn he’s under a point a game. 51 in 53 games. In the last 5 games he has 10 points. Which is great. He’s hot rn. But 41 in 48 isn’t elite. Including the next 5 at 51 in 53 he’s approaching elite. He definitely can be an elite in the future he’s very young.
I think Suzuki and Barkov are the 2 most underrated defenseman for most people. At first I seen Suzuki in good when I skipped to the end to see the list but I think your explanation is perfect. Next year though he probably is a elite player
Yes he is. People compare Suzuki to Barkov when Barkov is a top 15 player who can score 100+ points while being one of the best defensive if not the best defensive forward in the season
Suzuki is on pace for more points than most of the elite tier and is probably better defensively while playing on a shit team and he is a tier lower. I know im a bit bias but nah. Your also talking about more established players in elite but Bedard hasn’t even had a complete season while suzuki has been steadily improving for 4 seasons. Also tage thompson on pace for like 60 points how can he be a tier higher than suzuki. Don’t want to be a dick here I just don’t see the point
Auston Matthews is hitting over 60 this year bud. Idc what you say. His goal pace is 76. Saying hes not hitting 60 is just stupid.😂 Also his GP Is 0.92. Like come on😑. Btw im not even a leafs fan.😊
I think I’m just a hater but I feel like barkov is overrated asf and we still rate him because of nostalgia and a media trope. Like everyone said he was the best defensive center who’s amazing on offense and just went with it even tho he’s not nearly the player he was 4-6+ years ago. I’d have 50 points too if I played next to Matt and Casey too when they’re scoring like that. And Roope is a better center than barkov is at this very moment. But you don’t watch the stars. So he’s just “elite” . Roope is just as good as a two way. Scored multiple hatricks this season. Plays on all special teams and line one. Barkov went 2 months without scoring. Roope had 2 Hattys in back to back games lol
@mikebartner I goddamn appreciate ya, but I goddamn know I’m going to get goddamn irked by this goddamn vid. Edit- To clarify; I think we have very different definitions on your tiers. I will irrationally die on the hill that SUPERSTARS are generational players that are at the top of their sport (ie: McDavid, Crosby, Mackinnon, Matthews) ELITE are not generational players but currently in the top 10 or so, (ie: Pasta, Kucherov, Draistaitl, Tkachuckers) and Stars are dudes playing at an all star level (ie:Point, Nylander, Robo, Miller) . Stars vary a bit from year to year. Elite has occasional new guys like a J Hughers or Q Hughes, but generally this isn't going to see a lot of fluctuation; like Malkin was here once upon a time. SuperStars- Very little change- you need a no doubt HoF career and still be at the top 10 of your position group, which is why I'd say these are generational talents. Ovi was once here- no longer.. IDK that's me and my interpretation on what each tier is defined as. I definitley have a different criteria on this, but appreciate you're takes...for the most part (looking at some recent snubs of TK and Tippett- I live up in NY and would love to watch a flyers-isles game w ya so I can show you each time TK or Tippett exposes Dobby the house elf🤣🤣😂
Bedard an Carlsson will be superstars within two seasons. If both stay healthy I think both can find themselves in the discussion of top 10 players of all time when it's all said and done. I'm aware that's extreme high praise but both these kids are like nothing ever seen before.
@@MikeBartner tough pill to swallow but it’s true. He’s like the 4th best forward on the flyers now. His Dz/neutral Z play isn’t what it was and his OZ has dipped a lot, saying this as a flyers fan that says MB always underrates the fly guys

Horvat should be bumped down a tier or has barzal in elite. Also barzal is only 26. That’s crazy.
All in all, a solid list. I disagree on a couple (Couturier mostly), but i see why you put him where you did. Thanks for the video.
I think Suzuki and Barkov are the 2 most underrated defenseman for most people. At first I seen Suzuki in good when I skipped to the end to see the list but I think your explanation is perfect. Next year though he probably is a elite player
They are so underrated as defensemen that most people call them forwards lol. I think Suzuki will win a Selke during his career GO HABS GO
Yea he's very close to that tier honestly if he finishes with 75+ points he probably gets in it
Barkov has been "underrated" for 8 years now. He's not underrated
Yes he is. People compare Suzuki to Barkov when Barkov is a top 15 player who can score 100+ points while being one of the best defensive if not the best defensive forward in the season
@@andrewsutton2266he is definitely still underrated. Many people still say he isn't a top 15 player.
Hintz and Couturier should both move up a tier and Hertl should move down one.
Oh Matthews is hitting 60. That's almost not up for debate. It's just the 70 that's in question, since he's slowed down a bit.
Ya hes on pace for 68 lol
he replied to another comment saying he meant 70, so just a slipup.
He has now got 2 Hatties in a row and it ended with a 1 goal game. 70 looking good! One more Hattie and all the doubt will be gone! (Not a Leafs fan).
"Probably not gonna get 60 at this point". I really hope you meant 70 because he's on pace for 69 and has 32 games to score 18 to reach 60.
Yea meant 70
I think Eichel is a little overrated. Great center, but yet to be as good as he was pre-surgery
I think Roope Hintz playoff performance could raise him to Star, who gives a fuck about regular season points.
Man idk what wlse Suzuki can do to get in that Elite category, Selke level play with 75+ point pace has gotta put him up there…
He’s just criminally underrated. Even at the All-Star Game, they were scared to draft him. All because he’s a MOnTrEaL CanAdiEn
Bro, Bedard is not an elite player yet. Thomas is twice the player he is right now.
Carlsson is going to be a superstar
Agreed!

Honestly Suzuki is much better than Bo Horvat.. Horvat is literally just putting up points because of Barzal
what website do you use for the advanced stats?
Hi buddy I just got off the phone with my buddy and I got my phone back from my phone and I got it back
The Eichel trade is still insane.
Hot take but I think Couturier could be moved up a bit
Agreed. I'd say high good.
@@jmarx3943 yeah he might not be an elite goal scorer or playmaker but as a pure centre he deserves a bit higher
These tiers names are just not useful. Would have been better to just number them
Leo will be superstar easy better than barkov type
The Kopitar disrespect is CRAZY smh. No way he belongs in the same tier as those other plugs
Yeah and Ovi is still an elite player too huh ? Putting Kopitar in the samer tier as Suzuki is more than fair
Yes ROR and Ek are definitely "plugs"
@@It-s-me-P Suzuki and Kopitar is fair. Suzuki/Kopitar and Joel EE/Trocheck/Hertl is not
Kopi is old as shit, he slowed down.

Agree with the Barkov take, but Roope is no higher than star lol
@@lpm._ if he was in more talked about market (2nd in the nhl in points rn btw) then he’d be considered a top 5 center in the show.
I love Petterson but JT Miller is Vancouvers #1 centre still
fun video, cool takes
Did you listen to the first minute?
Probably not going to score 60? Matthews is currently on pace for 69 goals... Not sure why you'd say that.
Suzuki and Ekekek are at least elite
Jack eichel won a cup bro.
Mika is the number 1 center for the rangers
Did you watch the first minute when I explained how objectively I picked every teams #1 center? Like goddamn man.
Why is it Trocheck and not Zibanejad?
Because I said multiple times at the start "I am choosing whatever center has the highest average ice time so it is objective instead of subjective"
Oh ok I skipped to the end. Still a weird way to do it, but gotcha.
@mikebartner I goddamn appreciate ya, but I goddamn know I’m going to get goddamn irked by this goddamn vid.

list is perfect besides ek and jenner. Move them both up a tier and it’s flawless.
