  • Hi guys! Eye ball making is not a new topic, you can find hundreds of tutorials about this, but I rarely find some one to sculpt a realistic iris with clay. I'm inspired by many awesome sculptors and I thought a lot about how to sculpt the iris, and here we are, now I'm sharing with you my method. Hope to give you some inspiration.
    .
    Btw, I've just launched my new patreon page where you will find some exclusive tutorials, pics and various. Now the page is so fresh, and I still have to prepare lots of things. If you are interested and have some spare time, you can have a look and tell me what do you think. ;) Anyway, in this moment you can find on my patreon page a exclusive video tutorial of the eye ball making, it's a titled full version where I explain all the process step by step, and I added lots of tips and tricks. Beautiful eye! I noticed small air bubbles in the resin. You can pop them by running a lighter slowly over the resin before curing with each stage of layered resin. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your perfect work.

    You have a serious gift for capturing the details in the color of the iris! That torn, ripped look of the blue. Amazing!

    You are sharing your method but several unanswered questions.. Where do you get the eyeball molds? What type of clear resin are you using? What is the UV apparatus and why do you use it? thanks.

    • @NicolePandaArtist
      @NicolePandaArtist  2 роки тому +1

      I got the mold in an online shop, I used epoxy resin in the end. I used uv resin cuz it is thick, easy to create the shape of the iris.

      @@arpeggione20 Maybe the temperature is too high, or baked for too much time, or the temperature of the oven is not so stable. Or the oven is too small and the sculpture is very near too the grill. These are the reasons usually.
      Try to cover the sculpture with a piece of tin foil, and use a thermometer for oven. :)

    do you have any tips on how to not get bubbles in the uv gel/resin

    • @make7966
      @make7966 3 роки тому +1

      Valentine Garcia, to get the bubbles out of the UV gel after you have put it on your project, use a lighter, not the wind resistant kind, but just a regular lighter, you want a gentle flame, and slowly move it back and forth over the resin. What I like to do is fill with resin half way, put the flame to it then finish with resin and again run the flame over it. If there are some stubborn bubbles, use either a toothpick or a needle to dislodge them and pop them with the flame. P.S. The resin will almost always have bubbles and this is the only way I know to get rid of them. I hope this helps. Have fun!
