Also keep in mind a key difference between lead and atmo suits are the skills they give. Atmo suits give +10 to excavation Lead suits give +10 to strength Depending where you're at in the game it might be beneficial to switch your atmo suits to lead suits for the added strength instead of 10 + Excavation especially if you're the type of player to completely core out your asteroids.
Gyms are a good idea. I've just been blocking the door access to the base exits and letting take care of tasks inside the base, but the gym would probably get them up to speed faster
I couldn't imagine a more obviously unintended behavior than the titular mechanic of a game not functioning as it should be. It's so strange how GCFungus puts together such clever and well thought out explanations of mechanics but the moment an exploit or a bug comes up he just doesn't comprehend it.
The timer sensor is not needed on the gym, dupes will stop running when their work shift is over. But it is helpful if you also want them to do other tasks.
They have a rather LENGTHY animation if you let them end the use of the power wheel normally, as shown, it saves precious seconds of their downtime and is useful to maybe have new dupes get the morale bonus of socializing/using the recreation buildings.
You are right that there are definitely more optimal ways of setting up drecko ranching, which I hope to cover in a future tutorial. I only included it here as a simple example to demonstrate the point.
Just buy spaced out ! Really fun, but way too many things I have no idea about, now i can watch the rest of fungus videos that contain spaced out dlc contents lol 😂
2:15 the 10 suit limit would only apply if dupes were wearing suits 24 hours a day. The suits must be docked to charge however, so even if you use scheduling to ensure your dupes are always working at all hours, you still would not be able to fully utilize a set of 10 suits throughout the day. Therefor in practice a single pipe can support more than 10 suits depending on the percentage of downtime for each suit on average.
Are you speaking from theory or experience? Because with quite a few dupes, I've certainly found that a single pipe cannot support anywhere near 10 docks, especially when right next to the exit where they pull from first even if it should work in theory.
@@GCFungus Theory mainly, I usually keep only small numbers of dupes in general because I find more to be overwhelming and not fun. But it sounds like the problem has more to do with scheduling. Something to look into I guess, the theory is definitely sound, especially given that the O2 tanks fill even while the suits are being worn.
i wish there was a clearance mode to let suited dupes pass without removing their suits for use with spaced out rockets, so that dupes servicing a rocket can do so properly without leaving the dock in the rocket empty
Haha I'm sure they're fine - with the carrying skills then can lift an extra 800kg, plus their base strength so they can clearly lift a ton without any problems. Gravitas must have included some super strength genes when making them!
I'm having problems. I set up my stations exactly like yours exact same permissions and everything. Everything is hooked up like you said building is enabled. Everything I can think of that could prevent them going through is fixed. My dupes still refuse to go through. I can't find any info anywhere online about how and why this would be happening.
All the suits end up the same, so from that perspective it doesn't matter. I suppose it might matter as to the materials' other uses, so use up whichever you think is least useful elsewhere.
so jet packs are terrible. they expel co2. and most of the time u want a vacume and doing so much automation with rails and what not that theres no way to let a dup have unlimited pathing.
their real idea is to use in the area ofspace so you don't have to put stairs everywhere, you can even limit access to just use the jetpack in space, but honestly there's no need
I have two banks of exo suit docs one level above the other, the dupes are constantly dumping their suits rather than put them in the empty slot in the row above. Is there any way to stop this behaviour its infuriating? Im using Vancancy Only, but there dont seem to be any other settings.
That sounds to me like you might not have vacancy only on if the dupes are still leaving suits on the floor. Do be careful that it says 'Vacancy Only' in the info card and not on the button. If it says it on the button (which is easily confused), then you will be in 'Clearance: always' mode.
That really shouldn't happen, so I would look very closely at the gas inputs. Even a tiny packet of polluted oxygen or carbon dioxide will cause damage.
@@GCFungus Yea weird i could have sworn there were no unwanted gasses or PO2 there. I didn't have SPOM set up yet so i pumped air from "unused" upper part of my base where excess oxygen from diffusers accumulated.
I assume you're referring to durability - in which case you may be using a non-default setting. When starting a world, one of the game settings is suit durability. This can be set to various levels, including indestructible. I suspect you may have this setting on which would mean no need to repair suits.
I noticed this too, I didn't mess with any of the default settings but the durability stayed at 100% for 3000+ cycles. Do you play base game only or spaced out? Because what I did notice is that as soon as I started playing with the dlc the durability started working as intended. There aren't many UA-cam channels that make base game content so I can't find tutorials that mention this
The little dupe in the radiation suit slowly shimmying up the ladder at the end is adorable.
The legend says that it's the only video on UA-cam where you can see someone use a jetsuit in Oni
Yeah, i never knew those existed too
Because your fps suffers insane drop if you use them
This guy has me opening 20+ tabs looking at all his tutorial bites. Jeez

The lead suit athletics penalty will offset the strength in general I believe, so I overall I would prefer atmo suits.

"it's unclear if this is intended or not"
it is infinite oxygen
Oxygen: included

Yeah, while the line can be very blurry in a lot of cases, sometimes it's incredibly clear

When I build a gym the new dupes usually use the gym all day. They have such low morale requirements that this seems completely unnecessary
For drecko farms, it is better to make the room vertical, so the dreckos spend more time in hydrogen.
You are right that there are definitely more optimal ways of setting up drecko ranching, which I hope to cover in a future tutorial. I only included it here as a simple example to demonstrate the point.

This channel is very underrated
Very well explained, very clear tutorial ! Keep going !
Many thanks. I build an oxygen suit station and many atmo suits and i was wondering why it didn't work...

You can do this by disabling the checkpoint building.
Imagine being 3 ft tall and having to wear a 50 kg iron mask with 20 kg of oxygen inside...
Haha I'm sure they're fine - with the carrying skills then can lift an extra 800kg, plus their base strength so they can clearly lift a ton without any problems. Gravitas must have included some super strength genes when making them!
a 50Kg Iron Mask... in evironments FILLED with gases that naturally CORRODE or OXIDIZE Iron.
@1:05 from a FPS/pathfinding perspective you want to lock doors instead of disabling access.
I've had dupes pass checkpoints wearing the wrong type of suits... IE, oxygen mask past atmo suit dock.
I watched this video just to find something like the clearance setting because IM SO TIRED OF THEM LEAVING SUITS ON THE GROUND
Amazing tutorial. Thanks!
4:05 what are the differences of making the atmo suit from the different refined metals?
It doesn't have any impact so just use what you have around.

Everything I can think of that could prevent them going through is fixed. My dupes still refuse to go through. I can't find any info anywhere online about how and why this would be happening.
If you've set it up right, then it's hard to suggest what to do. If you have a screenshot, you can share it on the discord and we'll find the problem.
Does the material matter much when making the suits?
All the suits end up the same, so from that perspective it doesn't matter. I suppose it might matter as to the materials' other uses, so use up whichever you think is least useful elsewhere.

The button switches do get confusing at times.
Good tutorial as always :D
Idk why but sometimes my oxygen mask stations get damaged when getting in pure oxygen (no other gases)

Wait, what do you need to repair jetsuits?
Oddly it's 1 unit of reed fiber to repair, even though the recipe to make them is steel and petroleum!
For some reason my suits don't get damaged.
