I think this whole chasing thing is a metaphorical representation of how us adults in real life wish to go back in time to correct the mistakes we did as kids/ teenagers. Because at the time we were clueless of the consequences of our actions... however it remains impossible to change fate. Also, the power to control time nd space is a metaphor of a mental state. Overthinking the future and regretting things about the past makes your mind stuck so you lose your sense of present self .. and that's why the thin man end up completely destroyed. It's all already set, already happened and fate is already decided.
Why no one is talking about the fact that the first time the Thin man appears, it's fucking terrifying ? Each time you go in this distorted corridor, you come closer more and more of the the door, and wonder "what's behind this door ? ": You don't know what's behind but you know what ever is behind have a really low chance to be good for you, (the game is called Little nightmares and you already face deformed monsters and atrocities, so you know that the chances of opening this door and finding someone who sells cookies is low). But you keep moving foward, because you want to know what's inside but just before you can go any further, Six pulls you out (and saves you). That feels frustating but you also a little relieved that Six's pull you out before you could get to the end of the corridor. Because a part of you want to know the mysterie but an other part of you just want to stay safe and not to triggerd a unknow threat But this time this different. This time you’re even closer than before. So you reach the door, and you open the pandora's door. And as a fucking Slender-man pop out of the tv and try to catch you and your friend you think to yourself : " Well well well, if it is'nt the consequences of my poor life choices" or "ohgodohfuckleavemealonenoplzgobackto tv". And on this part of the game, everything is build to make you feel smol and scared : -The music and the atmosphere are really oppressive (like most of the time in this game by the way, but this is another level). -The way he stands up at the beggining like "time to catch some childs" an how he walks quietly towards you as you run for your fucking life or in generaly : the feeling of terror and powerless you feel when you unleash him and when he comes out of the fucking tv and chase you like "I'm gonna get you no matter what you'll do, there is no point in running ;)" is huge. The first appareance of the Thin Man is incredible. (even if I have to go to therapy to forgot the trauma caused by the Thin Man it's still cool)
If they ever make a third game, I hope this guy comes back because he's just too cool not to use more. He is so underused here, he needs more time to shine! (Also, I think he kind of went out like a baby. Don't get me wrong, the scene is cool, but there was barely a fight...)
Unfortaunetly it doesn’t seem like he’ll be returning, where him and the tower were in the 2nd game poster is replaced by a mirror in the third game’s poster, and since there’s such a big focus on mirrors in the trailer people think it’s going to be a character from the comics who travels through mirrors

I had a nightmare about the Thin Man last night, and for the record I haven't played this game or watched footage of it for an entire year. In this nightmare, if you say The Thin Man's name (which isn't "The Thin Man"), he will come for you later that night while you're in bed. There is also a famous video, where if you watch it then he'll come for you too. I did not learn his name or watch what I believed to be the video, but I did hear the legend in my dream, and I imagined what would happen if The Thin Man came for me: slowly opening the door when I'm about to fall asleep, quietly walking into my room, him staring into my eyes as I pray to god he doesn't see me, and then me never being seen again. I described this to my brother (still in the dream) about how terrified I was even though I was not in actual danger. The fact that it was all about speculation of the supernatural and not anything supernatural actually happening made it one of the realest dreams I've ever had. It occurred to me later in the dream that I was probably wrong by calling it The Thin Man, and that it's safe name was probably something else.

It's actually more complicated. Apparently, because of the paranormal nature of the Transmission, Thin Man can travel not only between TVs, but also in time. After he was freed and captured Six, he was supposedly ordered by the Tower to collect the bodies of those whose soul was already drained by the Transmission or simply stop those who know too much(or to simply capture people as seen in the comics). That's why the drawings of him are seen everywhere, even before we free him. He was traveling both to the past (hence the drawings and people's clothes lying everywhere) and the future (hence his appearance in the TV of the Maw back at the ending of Secrets Of The Maw DLC) between Six's capture and his second encounter with Mono.
Mono wins against the Thin Man because at this point he wants to save Six and protect her. The power of hero or something like that. The Thin Man lose against Mono even though i think technically he was an adult is because he no longer have that feelings to protect someone, it's just a power of hate and vengeance. You become more powerful when you have someone to protect. At least this is just my two cents speculation.
