    The 650 is my favorite servo. Running a few of them in a few rigs, love the simplicity of the direct power and not needing a BEC. It fits most rigs better than the 800 and I’ve never felt it was short on power. I’m running mostly 24mm Vanquish horns on them. Even with a 2.2 rig with weighted wheels it has no trouble! Sure better than the early days when I had an AX-10 and a Hitec 645mg trying to turn 2.2’s 😂

    Was watching one of your other videos and you used 40w shock oil, is that what you typically use or is dependent on rig/vehicle?
    Assuming vehicle weight, available spring options and suspension geometry plays a roll as well.
    I’m very new to RC and love crawlers, I’m just try not waste shock oil trying a bunch of different oil weights.
    Thank you sir - excellent excellent videos

      For the bulk of shocks, 40wt is a great place to start. The 300cst (basically 27wt) is too soft for most of the shocks it comes with, but works great in a Dravtech or a Big Bore. I would say probably half the shocks in the whole fleet have 40wt in them.

    I think this is the servo im going to get for my gen 8. Though it may brown out my Fusion Se but I read somewhere that it was 4a cont 6a peak not 3a. But im looking to upgrade here soon to a furitek python x which has a 6a continous 8a peak. Review was amazing!

    I bought (and smoked) a HK Hobbies 35k+ servo which was great until it wasn't, so I upgraded to a Holmes SHV650. Mr Canyon, how does this Flash Hobby compare to the Holmes, in your opinion? Thank you.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  Рік тому +1

      Well, the Holmes is producing heaps more torque. I'd have to say we'd want to compare the SHV650 to the Flash Hobby M60BHW, as they spec out about the same.
      With the Holmes, you're paying for any eventual "back end." That is, you have some kind of recourse should there be a problem. With the Flash Hobby servos, and how cheap they are, I've never anticipated any kind of warranty or post-purchase support. They're cheap torque.
      So determining that "post purchase" value, what that's worth is up to you. The SHV650 is going to be negligibly faster/stronger than the M60, but it will/might/could/should live longer.

      @adamreturns1 Рік тому

      @@CrawlerCanyon that is a helpful reply, thank you very much. I'll stick with the Holmes but I did like the anti-stall in the Flash Hobby servo you reviewed.

    @CrawlerCanyon I noticed the Amazon listing says these servos work with Sanwa, FlySky, and Futaba. Do they work with Spektrum receivers as well? Being that it is receiver powered, I dont want to buy one and have it not work with my rx/tx.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  Рік тому

      I've yet to meet a servo that wouldn't work with a particular receiver. The Flash Hobby servos will work just fine with your Spektrum radio.

    I watched the video and you said you were going to use a rhino esc. I have heard really much about those. I looked on Amazon and was wondering how it does. I also saw they have outrunner motors. Are they any good?

    Man… I find it hard to keep up with all the reviews! Sounds like this one ranks highly on the CC scale.
    Is there somewhere that you summarise the current recommendations?
    What is the ‘Amazon Blue’ that I’ve heard you mention before?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  Рік тому +1

      The Amazon blue case: amzn.to/3P3rt2n
      The only thing you're sacrificing for the low price point is speed. This servo tested out to ~600oz, well beyond mfr. spec.

  • @chungamungafromdownunda6614

    would you recommend using these in bashers? specifically 1/7, 1/8 scale like the kraton 6s, fire team 6s and other similar models?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  Рік тому +1

      I don't see why not. I'm running MKS HBL550s in both of my Arrmas, and the 550 is almost the exact same numbers as the 4050. I go with MKS because they're LOUD, which doesn't matter in a rig where every single gear is metal. A proper 50kg should be plenty for even big ol' Copperheads, etc.

    higher volt ala 6s but low kv makes a low power motor, go higher kv same voltage w throttle curve. internal 10a bec underload i think would struggle with 2 6+amp draws, dropoff i would imagine being much worse then a external bec. possible brown out....

    @skylarriggs1239 Рік тому

    Please test out the powerhd servos particularly the 40kg all aluminum blue case servo been using them for years with good luck for lower end stuff but I’d like to see the amp draw and real world numbers as I may start getting the nsd budget servo if the amp draw is way less and it makes the same numbers why keep supporting Amazon ya know

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  Рік тому

      Power HD remains untested for 2 reasons:
      1. They're literally never on Prime. Paying $7 shipping on a servo is not something I try to do.
      2. The price of the 40kg model is $3 more than a 50kg Flash Hobby, or $3 less than a 60kg Flash Hobby, so I never really saw the point.
      50% more power for $3 is a tough deal to pass up.

    Seems like a great servo for people who don't like setting end points.
