After he retires, I hope he will be back as pitchers’ coach! He is very awesome at coaching the pitchers. Some pitchers are little crazy, but Yadi told them to relax and how to controlling their pitches. After that, they were getting better and they won the game!!! He’s better than Maddux. He’s okay, but Yadi is a lot better than him.
David Canada 1975 no.1 in my category too! Always had so much appreciation for yadi I’m a catcher on my team and I’m a big cards fan so I watch him play and try and learn everything I can from him! He’s always been my fav player on the cardinals and I’ll always love him❤️⚾️
Well Molina does...what Molina does! Classic Words to remember. I'll miss you Yadi when you retire. I'm NOT a Cards fan but I love watching The BEST like Yadi work.
I seldom watch baseball, I live on a ranch and do some outside contracting, so I am a very busy person, but I jus watced this highlights video and am blown away by the accuracy and speed of this outstanding athlete.
God bless Yadier Molina and his family!!! I watched a video about him and his brother and family. He is a good man and his family are good people!! And Yadi is by far the greatest catcher I've ever seen!! And what a CANNON Molina has!!!!
To be fair, Hamilton had already stolen two on him that day - that's why Yadi was looking up at the end with a smile and raising his arms. He was saying, "Finally!" That said, I'm in agreement, Yadi's one of the greatest ever at his position, if not the greatest. The standard "blah blah blah Johnny Bench, blahblahblah Buster Posey" crap comes along every now and then, but Yadi does a bit of everything too well for the average catcher.
He was, I think. Rodriguez dominated the 90s. Molina picked up the mantle after Pudge started declining and is still a cornerstone at 35. Pudge was a total package offensive + defensive threat, and Molina adds so much value handling pitchers and adjusting defensive strategy. Two of the GOAT defensive catchers I've gotten to watch in my lifetime.
Yadi's throw to 2nd is so incredibly consistent. It seems every throw down starts from his left and trails to his right and it makes even his short throws easy to handle for middle infielders. As a high school kid, I had the same kind of throw and my middle infielders always told me that the way that ball comes from their right to left made it easier for them to apply the tag quickly. So... I think this is why he seems to have a great CS numbers and is so hard to steal against. However, I still feel that bases are stolen on the pitcher and not the catcher. Molina seems to be the exception to that rule. Whether from his feet or his knees, the man is just a model of consistency. I don't think I have seen any player on any team that is such a defensive force. Since I am a lifetime Cards fan, I absolutely love this guy and I think that he is absolutely the best defensive player at any position all-time. With his offensive numbers going up as he gets older, he really should be considered one of the all-time greats at any position. Yes, I believe Molina to be underrated and I feel he always has been. First ballot hall of famer? I believe so.
Yadier and Albert were amazing at the Home to 1st tag out. Yadier still impresses me with the development of his hitting. His first 2 years he would be just over .200avg. Now he is usually .260avg or better.
I've yet to have seen a catcher with as smooth and natural of a stance/delivery as Molina's. His crouch looks like he's just chilling and his throws look like half of the time he's just flinging them.
At least Yadi will never be suspected of substance abuse. He plays as cleanly as a catcher can. Still catches an insane amount of innings per year, still a pretty solid defensive throw-out rate, and he's hitting more for power these last few years because speed caught up with him.
Who else idolizes this man not because of all the hype but because he is just a once in a life time player I would love to meet and get some tips from him as a catcher myself
Got an opportunity to see him vs the Braves last week. Glad the Braves won but also glad to see one of the best catchers to ever suit up for the big leagues!
I've always loved watching Yadi! Without his backstop prowess and Pujols' bat; '06 and '11 would have been just another spooky, sad St Louis Halloween.
Andrew - Great video, thanks for sharing!!! Cardinals Nation! Hope they pick up they're playing this season, though. Go Yadi, future HoFer in my opinion. He's the current best defensive catcher and his offense isn't that bad.
You might call me crazy but I think Molina is one of the best defenders of all time (not just catchers). His powerful arm, accuracy, and awareness is absolutely incredible.
Look how sick the throw at 8:31 was. It almost looks like he wrapped the throw around the pitchers' mound and curved it right to the second baseman. I think Yadi threw a two seamer from behind the plate.
Interesting. Yadi doesn't look fast, but he's so smooth it's deceptive. Pudge was so violent with his pickoffs he mask usually came off. The two best defensive catchers ever.
What other catcher can generate a 10 minute defensive best of tribute and it just scratches the surface . As I'm typing this , he just hit a go ahead 2 run hit vs. the Cubs AFTER taking a another shot to the balls behind home plate . First ballot hall of fame in our midst . Soak up the greatness while you can . He is the heart of the Cardinals .
Yadi definitely should go first ballot in the HOF. And kudos to the umps. Several of those plays were 'blink and you miss 'em'. Nobody's perfect, but those umps appeared to make every effort to be on top of it.
I don't know how many people notice this but Yadi never throws second straight to the base.. he throws it slightly towards first to give the baseman the best chance to tag him.. clever guy
yeah when you throw from your ear, youre backspin goes away. creates more of a side spin, so with that velocity and distance, its gonna tail a shit ton.
4:15 one of the smartest plays I’ve ever seen. Intentionally avoids contact with the batter to keep the force at third, and therefore keep the double play intact.
I looks like he did tag the batter, as the ump called him out, but the third baseman forgot to tag the runner at the third base. It would have been a double play, or possibly triple play by tagging the another runner at the second base.
He better get every vote in the hall of fame.
SiLenT366
He wont
Dig Bick Playa only cause of his offense
Should be HOF at some point but the Cards will retire the 4 for sure....which might mean more to him.
I think he's first ballot. You could argue he's the best defensive catcher ever to play.
BEST CATCHER IN THE GAME
He is the best catcher in MLB
I agree
Yes
Yes
@@zadenlongoria3883 fuck you
yadier is superhuman, his reaction time is impeccable and he throws so fast it's no wonder only the best of the best can really get steals on him

Clark Hamilton you write like a 8 year old but you know amazingly much about baseball and I’m so confused.
Hands down my favorite catcher ever. His skill and love for the game is undeniable.
" why why why don't even try it" " goodbye "
Christian alba “don’t even test him. You’ll get burned!”
Molina is one of the very few all Stars that nobody has anything negative to say about him.
Well, nobody except for Reds fans.
***** yeah, probably. But Phillips started that one.
BeefPapa Heh. He then went on to say Cardinals fans are the best in baseball. I guess he said what he said to start stuff.
All I got is that he's slow 😂 but real talk one of thr best defensive catchers of all time.... if not the best
he sure is quick behind the plate. Is he a slow runner? Well, show me a fast runner catcher.... Don't waste your tie, there is none.
Yadi the Best Catcher in the Game today point blank period, he in the top 5 of all time,No.1 in my Category!!👌⚾ 💵✅💯

as a cards fan that is pretty cool. he replaced mike matheny, who was amazing. we all thought no one could be as good as mike. WRONG
I have never been a die-hard cards fan, but Yadier Molina has been my favorite Baseball player for a long time.
It's magical watch him play. He's best of the best, my respect from Dominican Republic.
He's not from DR, he's from Puerto Rico. He and his 2 bro's are the best catchers in MLB!! Go a head "Boricuas"!!
@@annettelaureano5850 he is not saying that he is Dominican, people need to read twice.
It’s still amazes me that he plays for national team during off-season. It’s like he just can’t get enough baseball lol

lifetime baseball fan. Molina top of the line catcher for so many years. my favorite.
one of the greatest cardinals ever. We are so blessed to have him.
You have a higher chance of winning the lottery 3 times in a row than stealing on Molina.
SgtPrice1000 true. Very true.
Most people would rather smell flowers than shit
Yadira Molina is my favorite player
Brady Perez Yadier
Brady Perez how is he ur fav player if u can't even spell "Yadier"?

He is the perfect difference of Benito Santiago and Pudge Rodriguez!!!!!! Two of the greatest all-time!!!

A catcher being able to gun down the fastest runner with a good jump, just proves that Yadi is the best catcher
To be fair, Hamilton had already stolen two on him that day - that's why Yadi was looking up at the end with a smile and raising his arms. He was saying, "Finally!"

The only thing I love more than Yadi gunning runners down is Danny Mac calling it! Love my cards family!
What a beast, I could watch his clips all day...
Molina one of the greatest!!! 💪
The kind of catcher who makes his entire infield better just by being there.
"Chance for Molina" should say "Chance for runner"
No... there's no chance for the runner.
Pudge was better
He was, I think. Rodriguez dominated the 90s. Molina picked up the mantle after Pudge started declining and is still a cornerstone at 35. Maybe the Best ever to do it.
Best since Benito Santiago if not all time.

Best catcher in the game.

Yadi paints masterpieces with every throw.

I like it when the commentator says "Molina guns down". And there's Yadi putting down his helmet which makes it more badass

Just a Reminder. During his playing career, only about 800 steals were attempted against the Cardinals. The next closest is about 1400. 🐐
I love it when the throw reaches second before the runner has even begun his slide.
