360Hz OLED King - Gigabyte FO27Q3 1440p Monitor Review
Gigabyte just released their new 1440p 360Hz QD OLED gaming monitor, and the performance is incredible. This monitor is so fast, that LCD has been made entirely obsolete. Not only that, but the contrast afforded by QD OLED and HDR allows it to be used for single player games as well.

Are you sure the FO27Q3 has a glossy finish? The manufacturer states it's anti-reflective/matte, and some sources confirm this. I ordered mine and it should be coming Monday. If it's a matte finish, that would be a big let down and I may return it.
Did you have any issues with eye strain or eye fatigue when using this monitor for extended periods of time? I had a MSI 271QPX (which uses the same QD-OLED panel as the FO27Q3), but I had to return it because it cause me so much eye strain.
I also had the strange 4 seconds of black screen when alt-tabbing between apps sometime, but the 271QPX doesn't support firmware updates, so it was just another reason why I wanted to return it lol
If I have a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard and I’m plugging the usbs for those into the monitor to make full use of the kvm, does it mess with the latency of your mouse and keyboard? I play a lot of online shooters like the finals and apex but also want to use the kvm with my work laptop for when I work at home so that kinda thing is important to know
Just waiting for rting's review. Am interested in input lag at lower refresh rates
how does it compare to the other qd oled 360hz monitors brightness wise? (SDR and HDR)
Thanks for the ICC profile, I saw the white color as very warm from the factory, after applying the profile I now see it perfect :), the monitor is truly amazing, I recommend it to everyone
Where is the ICC profile and what picture mode/settings are you using? Im struggling to make it look good.
where is the icc profile
@@oDiablo It's in the patreon. $1/mo will get you access to it
How to join discord? I don’t see the link
Is it possible to use the ICC profile of this model on the 32-inch model? Would it look the same? thank you :)
Which version of HDMI 2.1? 48Gbps, 24Gbps, 6Gbps or else? Is it using DSC with HDMI?
This or the MSI 271qrx?
How does it compare to MSI 27QRX?
so whenj, if ever, are OLED actually going to be not premium price wise?
Why didn't this one make your favorite HDR list? Just curious since I see the 32' 4k version did.
So is this the number 1 OLED monitor to get? If not, then what are the top 3 at the moment?
I think
LG 27 OLED 240hz & Alienware 27 OLED 360hz
About alt+tabbing being slow, that happens when you use 10 bit color in Windows, i always used to use 10 bit color but i figured out it was the color bits resulting in the slow alt tabbing so and i changed it back to 8 bit.
Can you till the difference between the 1440p version compared to the 4k version in quality in oled display
Or they look the same ?
Stuck on picking
You can definetely see the difference between 1440p and 4k, the problem is that 4k is more expensive and harder on your gpu. You'll get a noticeably less fps in games.
the black screen while alt tabbing is not only on this oled. lots of non oled monitors have that issue. you jsut need to tweak some settings in nvida control panel
I have the msi mag 271qpx OLED same exact panel as this monitor. I also have this annoying alt tab black screen I changed nividia control panel to nividia settings 8bit and 10bit also changed everything else to rgb and full still happens.idk what I can change bc my ips monitor it works fine just my OLED has this issue.
what settings have to be tweaked?
@@fazlfazl9786if you go into Nvidia control panel go to change resolution and if you use nvida color settings change the output color depth to 8bpc. Also make sure you set your pc tro the correct refresh rate and resolution. Also if you are using 1.4 dpi cable do not use 1.4(ds) or whatever it is called, just use regular 1.4.
fairly sure this is due to DSC. I have a friend who experienced this on his 27GR, and had it disappeared the moment he switched from DP1.4 to HDMI 2.1. Because HDMI 2.1 can do the full 1440p240hz & 360hz bandwidths. It's just MSI & Gigabyte are yet to give us the option to turn DSC off even though we have the ports...
@@Alfie0001 yeah thats what is is dpi1.4(DSC) just go into the monitors settings and switch it to regular dpi 1.4 if the issue is still there do the other things i said. that's how I fixed it for me.
so what is the best 360hz OLED monitor right now? the MSI MPG 271QRX or this?
Whatever is most available and cheapest in your country.
They all got the same panel, same goes for the Alienware 27 aw2725df.. Its only software add ons that differ.
what is hdmi to optical and optical to hdmi signal conversion latency?
who needs that ? Just use normal conections lol
@@MakeSh00t the display guy is selling Ruipro Fiber Optic Cable
Not going to lie, I Was waiting to hear "Let's talk about it!" then i didnt see you.. then all of a sudden there's the mustache Lmao. Subscribed
Apparently the "tactical switch" on these new Gigabyte OLED monitors can be remapped to other functions like manual pixel cleaning. Can you give us a full list of the remapping options? I've barely seen anyone talk about it, even on reddit.
You can set Tactical Switch to one of the following:
Resolution Switch
Crosshair
Gaming Timer
Pixel Clean
Mute
@@MrM-dl5zm I was hoping for something like switching between active inputs (i.e. DP to HDMI, or HDMI 1 to HDMI 2) or just cycling through inputs without having to go into the OSD every time. Thanks for the list!
@@ZekeLonbyYou can switch between inputs. There is 4 axis toggle - toggle right side and you have access to switch Input.
HDMI 1
HDMI 2
DP
Mini DP
USB-C
Simple as.
@@MrM-dl5zm Yeah that's how it is with my current and very old 4K 60 Hz LG monitor. Maybe I'm just nitpicking but I was hoping for a 1-button shortcut. It's certainly possible with a firmware update. I want to eliminate the HDMI switch from my setup to be able to switch quickly between console and PC.
@@ZekeLonbyYea no problem. If you have any questions feel free to ask (I have FO32U2P, overall its fantastic monitor)
so if i get this monitor, would i want to lower my refresh rate to 240hz for games like warzone 3? or should i consider a different oled monitor with a native 240hz.
There really isn't a reason to lower your refresh rate, ever when playing on the same resolution. If you want the best of the best 1440p monitor available right now, this is probably one of the models to consider.
@@paagedhi what others would you suggest? I was looking at the pg27aqdp but I don’t know when it comes out.
@@DelineatedMercy Well, what are you looking for in a monitor? What resolution, refresh rate, features? Do you prefer certain panel technologies? What size panel?
@@DelineatedMercyQD-OLEDs are nicer than WOLED in colors. And this one GBT has more refresh rate than the Asus
What’s your favorite OLED 32 inch at the moment? Does there exist a 320+ hz 4k 32 inch oled yet?
About 2 seconds of research and you would find that 240 Hz is the most offered by 4K screens and will be the highest for a long while, at least until more monitors adopt the true DP 2.1 standard.
@@rickgear2579 Darn I only made it to 1 second of research I shoulda kept lookin
As someone who has owned a monitor with one of these samsung panels. Text clarity is fine and much better than WOLED, the raised black levels really arent a problem at all, Im using a WOLED right now with matte coating and its the same. Also the black screen issue is cuased by DSC. surprised he doesnt know this, it could potentially be fixed by nvidia witha driver update since AMD doesnt have this issue, but the easiest fix is to put all your games in windowed fullscreen anyway, and DX12 this is the default behavior
when you getting the DP 2.1 model?
A few weeks.
Nothing is in stock (Europe)
In germany it is
it's in several shops in Poland, incl. the biggest one (X-kom), you can order it from there IIRC to another EU country

@@webber7217 He gets paid to talk nonsense. He doesn't even know what modern matte screens look like.
When is the 480Hz 1440p coming? And will it have DP 2.1?
Rumored Q3 at best so hopefully very soon. I have a new power pc build ready to go but I might wait (in agony) until end of summer for the monitor(s) for that's literally the ONLY component left to purchase and I honestly don't want to spend a rack on a monitor right now (even the Asus esportsTN 540Hz but I'm still so tempted) until the Asus 480Hz/1440p release. And as for DP 2.1 we have not confirmed with Asus yet but for that caliber of gear 2.1 should be a no-brainer inclusion, there is virtually no reason for it to not have that DP spec.
@@h4d3n27 By "power PC" you couldn't possibly mean the CPU architecture right? As far as I know that died quite a while ago. power PC was a name for an old CPU type like ARM and X86 (or X64). I'd like to imagine you are replacing your CRT you play Quake or something like that online on with an OLED.
I'm guessing you can actually update the firmware on this thing?
I wonder if you can
Isn't that 4 second delay when ALT-TAB'ing out of Fullscreen Exclusive apps the DSC bug for NVIDIA cards? This is 1440p 360Hz so it does have to use DSC at least for DP 1.4a. It should not happen on HDMI 2.1 though, unless Gigabyte's implementation of HDMI 2.1 on this model is below the 40Gbps/48Gbps specification (not using the full 4 lanes) again like some older 2021/2022 displays.
The odd thing is it was showing as 48Gb, so I think it’s a bug.
@@thedisplayguy Hmm... if it is running at 4 lanes HDMI 2.1, then it shouldn't be using DSC. Is there an option to disable DSC in the monitor's OSD? If so, try HDMI 2.1 with DSC off and then see if you still experience the 3+ sec ALT-TAB transition.
@@thedisplayguy The DSC bug with nvidia GPUs is really annoying as in some instances, the screen just remains dark. nvidia really needs to prioritize fixing it now that we have many more monitors taking advantage of DSC
This is a problem with all these new OLED high res high hz screens - nvidia need to fix this ASAP. DSC also seems forced on a lot of hdmi 2.1 full bandwidth screen like the gigabyte 360hz 1440p and its SO SO SO SOOOOOOOOO ANNOYING
Don't use full screen in games. Use borderless fullscreen. It should work
Can someone help with picture settings please?
Will you review LG 32gs95ue?
this or the lg GS 27 inch?
Your affiliate link is from Newegg and it is out of stock with ETA of 4/30/2024. 😞... but otherwise cool review/monitor.
We're all still waiting for the tutorial on how to buff out the matte finish on monitors....
I have the msi 321urx get it trust me 4k looks stupid good
Do you recommend this monitor for an oled? I am looking for an oled price doesnt matter
This is oled
@@RoyalBoyle78 yes but is it the ultimate oled?
@@oDiabloWhat do you mean by ultimate oled? Its very good monitor I have bigger brother FO32U2P and have 0 complains.
@@MrM-dl5zm i just meant is it the best oled panel monitor out there in the 27in h range? I was looking for a 240hz 2k oled monitor but I wouldn't mind a 360hz. Plus the price is not bad I thought it would be around the 1200 or something like the 27GR95QE-B from lg. But surprisingly it's only 800 and it's also better in terms of specs so should I buy it or is there's a better choice for a 27inch oled monitor? I don't like curved monitors so the oddessy is not an option for me.
@@oDiabloI just bought one and if you're in a light controlled room I'd definitely bite
Wich one Youll pick this one or the asus PG27AQDM??
Do not buy the PG27AQDM. If you want WOLED in 2024 buy the LG 27GS95QE or wait for the 1440P 480Hz coming later this year. Otherwise, 1440P 360Hz QD-OLED is your alternative choice.
@@andrewmorris3479 I've heard the Asus is "better" compared to the LG version no? Also thinking about buying the Asus monitor but now this right here sparked my interest. Can you explain why not to get the PG27AQDM?
@@Cano.. The PG27AQDM has a display from 2023. Buy the ASUS XG27AQDMG for a 27” 1440P 360Hz/240Hz QD-OLED.
32inch version of this is what i’m looking for
hi this monitor or alienware 360? because i am about to buy one right now
They're nearly identical. Same panel, but a lot of people in the industry has said the color accuracy on Alienware 360hz model is the best they've ever seen out of the box. Also Input lag I think is a bit lower with Alienware
@@volvo89577The Alienware also doesn't use true hdmi 2.1, so it's probably not a better choice over getting the Aorus and tuning the colors a bit. It's not like this person actually knows whether the latency is better on either or not, they're probably just saying that because they bought the Alienware. Imo go with the Aorus
does it have a uniform brightness feature?
Yes. Settings APL LOW = 280 nits automatic uniform brightness built in, SDR

Hi,
I can get the LG C3 for approximately $800, while the C4 is $1,500. Is the C3 good enough, or should I wait until the C4 becomes reasonably priced?
Additionally, I’m considering the 57-inch Samsung you reviewed, which I'd buy if it drops to $1,600.
Although it’s not OLED and has a matte screen, do you think the colors are still good enough to enjoy at this price?
I’ve only used 27-inch IPS panels before and have heard that VA panels might have inferior color quality. Is that true?
Would I be disappointed with samsung 57 inch when it comes to colour?
Thank you Display Guy!
Your reviews are the most enjoyable I watch regarding Displays!
I’m not the display guy but I tried so many monitors and displays myself. In terms of value I would absolutely go for the LG C3 OLED. The picture is incredible and if you game, the super low response time is a huge plus.
Matte usually destroys the picture quality and color quality of a display so I would try to avoid if it says matte but double check reviews. Also VA panels have less vibrant colors but typically have better contrast. OLED beats both by miles though.
@@redg2197
Thank you for your response! I'm considering using the monitor for both entertainment and extensive work purposes. Given its lower pixels per inch (PPI), do you find reading text on this monitor challenging? Many reviews suggest that OLED screens can make reading difficult. Based on your experience, would you still recommend it for tasks that involve a significant amount of reading and programming?
I'm a little worried because of burn in as well, do you still think it would be better than the 57" mini led?
Is the picture quality worse than an ips monitor on the va panel from samsungs 57" ?
Thanks again !
@@SuperNova-gc7tm The LG C3 OLED’s lower PPI might be noticeable during extensive reading or coding, but its superior contrast can still make for a comfortable viewing experience. OLEDs do have a burn-in risk, but features like pixel shifting help mitigate it. If burn-in is a big concern, a 57” Mini LED might be safer due to its durability and brightness. As for the Samsung VA panel, it generally offers better contrast than IPS monitors, which is great for movies but might fall short in color accuracy for professional editing tasks.
