Then again, he put himself in that position by moving away from Ferrari Fernando's career after 2007 is defined by joining the wrong teams at the wrong time
@@opposedscroll7596 well, before the 2015 season started, it was a very promissing deal, nobody could predict the absolute trashcan on wheels that McLaren would become in the next years. And Ferrari starting to make good cars as soon as Alonso left was an unfortunate turn in the events aswell.
That feeling he got when they fitted all 4 tires to him and he could actually drive the car normally after he nursed an entire lap on 2 tires and could barely steer must've been so satisfying
You can tell that when turning right, he used the gas to help steer the car. To drive that thing in this condition all the way around Baku, of all places, is just mind-blowing.
That car wasn't even that bad as a concept, just the engine sucked and made it look so much worse. Once the engine was closer to others they got some serious points!
Alonso driving with basically 30% of the car's downforce points and finishing P7 in a McLaren is a performance hardly nobody in the history of motorsport could have done
0:45 it may not look too much, but as 0:54 progresses, it starts deflating and wearing out minutes later, then at 1:26 loses the tyre color and he has to proceed cutting the corner. At 1:56 FR are like F2 tyres wobbling around and then at 2:48 finally gets his inflated then continues the race
this is why i love alonso. I'd argue that every single other driver on the grid would have pulled over and retired. ONLY alonso would wrestle that thing a whole lap back to the pits, not crash, get repairs AND finish 7th
@@snickers_economy current regulation era the floor is by far the biggest source of downforce, when this happened much less so, was much more the wings.
I once had a double puncture like this with my car. Luckily I wasn't far from home and the car had sturdy steelies so I just drove home, had to be quite careful though. Even in situation like that I found it quite funny when I realized I was basically performing homegrown version of Fernandos two-wheeled Baku heroics.
If you go and find the highlights from this race, you'll see this was barely covered as they would much rather pay attention to the race leaders, as always.
This is a PERFECT example of how to drive with a puncture in F1. Glad Nando finished with points in this CHAOTIC race. Leclerc the next year in Monaco is the worst example on how to drive with a puncture.
bruh who was in the renault that slapped the williams into alonso also insane how he even got thru the pits. with less tyres its so hard to find grip but he just slid into the pit lane
When you hit spike strips in NFS Most Wanted and you're trying to reach a safehouse
Relatable 😂❤
Real accurate
One wheel is even worse
Yoo nice to find nfsmw players❤
Relatable
In my opinion, easily a top 5 Alonso performance. To go from 2 wheeled after T2 to 7th in that Mclaren is the most Alonso thing
With close to 20 points of downforce loss too!😂
Getting points after that is insane
And with the floor fucked aswell
A driver of Alonso's calibre should never have had to experience the McLaren Honda boat. He really did miracles with the car especially in 2018
Did the same at Ferrari with their god awful creations like F14T. It's sad he spent most of his prime driving bad cars.
In 2018 it was McLaren with Renault engines. Honda was works team with Torro Rosso

ayrton senna: hold my beer
And p7 too!? This clip has to be the best example of Alonso's brilliance and car mastery.
How he can parking pit stop exactly? Alonso is the veteran of F1

lol no, he is a toxic primadonna

Mewinlonso

There's a possibility that McLaren was so ass that breaking the car could've actually made it go faster

Legend says the 2018 McLaren was just as good on two wheels as it was on four.
Same thing with 2022 US GP, had a wheelie, pits and finished P7
Haas appeals, gets dsq, Alpine counter-appeals for late appeal by Haas, gets P7 back, refuses to elaborate.
Do you have any links for the video? I couldn't find
He's a total legend. The most complete Racing Car driver ever. His thinking is just on another level from other drivers.
Ironically one of the finest first lap drives ever in F1.
dont you mean unironically

My Rookie Alonso took "Drive To Survive" for real.
Alonso: driving on 2 wheels and finishes in top 10
Hamilton: wins the race on 3 wheels
F1 won't be the same without them
Thanks for the re-upload. Noticed this was missing for a few months now.
This is why he’s been my favourite since his McLaren Mercedes days. So much skill and understanding of any car he gets behind. Racecraft 100
NGL, I've seen at least 2 other drivers find themselves in this situation and they all sent the tyre to mars.
