I thought Rise of Skywalker was fantastic!!!! I rewatched The Last Jedi last night on Netflix and, knowing what I know now, really enjoyed it. I never did hate TLJ, Light most fans do, but now, I really do like TLJ. Those three movies were wonderful characters arcs.
Kylo Ren was Ben and train by Luke and Luke train by Obi Wan and Yoda. Yoda told Obi Wan he has discover a new Jedi training in the Jedi ancient history. So when they die they are not really dead the Jedi Force would be anywhere and cannot be destroyed and become more powerful as the Force.
He didn’t force heal her. She was dead. They made it very clear she was dead dead dead. He resurrected her. He did what Anakin wanted to learn to do. To master death. This is why he died. A life for a life. He didn’t just heal her. I think it’s an important distinction. Look at her hands. They are not healed. That’s not what he did.
I’m incredibly upset that Ben died and it felt awful when we didn’t even get to see his spirit 😭 I at least wanted him to be with her and still talk to her like we saw other spirits of the Jedi so before. I loved the movie until he died, that part just ruined the film for me 😔
Could that be a hint that he’s not really dead? There’s a theory about World Between Worlds and that he could potentially come back to life. I need a continuation of this 😭
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that Ben Solo died, I had figured out before I saw the movie about their feelings. It would have been nice to have a love couple in Star Wars❤️
@@bfa9446 Tbh if you watch the scene where he "kills" his father it looks like Han actually turned the light saber on. I think he actually committed suicide to help Ben because he knew what he had to do. I mean the whole dialogue between them is Ben asking Han to help kill himself. I mean Ben says "Thank you".Before Han falls. Its mutual I think. But that's just what I think.
It’s frustrating that they kill kylo Ren Teaching people if you turn good you die? They deserved a happy ending together They could start a new saga of both of them ruling together
She was dead, Kylo was pretty messed up and drained already and gave her his last force essence that was keeping him barely alive to give life to her because he knows she is pure and the hope the galaxy needs. That’s how I read it.
I agree! They are both the loneliest people in the galaxy and end up alone???? They are a dyad but they end up separated??? Also Rey and Kylo had the most wonderfully romantic and hopeful moment together but 3 seconds it's as if he never existed??? This is the end of the saga... they could've shown us something else than another tragic love story!!! But no.... the whole movie twists itself around to play it safe and please those tlj haters. The continuity is a mess.
Two sides of one coin, really. Somehow, Kylo Ren "deserved" to "die" (not physically alive) because of all the chaos and genocide he's done in the name of the Dark Side. Remember that even if a criminal repents and admits his guilt, he is still liable for the crime he has done. Conversely, there's a possibility that Force wielders can have life after death (maybe not just in the Christian, etc. definition) as evident in the Force-ghosts we've seen the movies. Though it's just not clear whether the Sith nor all Jedi who have been in existence have learned this "trick" since it was Qui-Gon Jinn as a neutral soul who was able to pull this off first (see Yoda's conversation with Obi-Wan at the end of Ep. 3). And Dark Side inclined Force wielders may not know this since, come to think of it, individuals who believe in life after death may not actually resort to non-peace, deception, plundering, killing, and ruling entire galaxies since these are more for material greatness, than everlasting harmony with the Force
All things come to an end... and HE actually thought she was more important to live than himself... he willingly sacrificed himself so SHE could live on because she was stronger internally too. He knew her legacy would help the galaxy heal, not his mistakes. It was a wise unselfish decision and a very good one for Lucasfilm to do that. If not, then the Skywalker lineage would never end... ALTHOUGH... I DO AGREE WITH YOU!! haha I wish he didnt die either, BUT it's cool that he will be one with the force also!!
Ben Solo Deserved Better. Star Wars is meant to be a fairy tale, something about hope. Redemption should not always equal death, but lately, people seem to think so! He was doomed from the womb, influenced by Snoke/Palpatine. Leia and Han called him a monster as a child (the novel), and Leia just gave him to Luke for training thinking he could 'fix' Ben. Turns out in ROS she had training...why couldn't she train her son? Idk. Then when Luke tried to kill his own nephew/padawan (via Palpatine visions and his own fears, sources: Rise of Kylo Ren), he fled as Palpatine killed the students (burned the temple). Leia was looking for her twin...not to check on her son, but to have Luke join the resistance. They always feared there was too much Vader in Ben. Apparently, there wasn't enough Palpatine in them to be scared of Rey, someone who they replaced Ben with basically. It's so sad. Ben showed so much conflict, so much character development, and he redeemed himself (no easy feat), but he is rewarded with death? In a series that is supposed to be about hope? Palpatine won in the end, as usual. :/ At least they could have had them defeat Palpatine together...why didn't even grieve the other half of her soul dying? Just, poor writing imo. They gave a great character, a great disservice, and the re-editing isn't even the greatest...
I agree with your summary and thoughts but he had to die in order to save her. The whole “saving someone from death” ideal in this universe was warped and screwed up with Anakin going to the dark side. But Ben learns her can do when he sees Rey heal him. It’s through true love and a life sacrifice that this power is available.
As much as I loved the movie the ending pissed me off. After Ben died Ray just sat there, not even a tear jerker or sadness swept her. Then they just cut to a scene as if nothing happened. As if Ben just didn’t die in front of her. As if he didn’t just give up his own life for her. As if he didn’t matter at all. I was pissed that they didn’t add a scene of Rey mourning him. The least they could do was either add a scene of her mourning him. Or better yet bring him back in the next trilogy.
Honestly I think they left his fate a bit ambiguous for a reason. If they wanted to drive the nail in that he's 100% never coming back dead...why not show him as a force ghost at the end with Luke and Leia? They chose to have his body disappear at the end with Leia's....but not show him as a ghost alongside her. Frankly I think they're keeping a door open to bring him back at a later date if they wanted to. It would be an easy matter to hand-wave his return (especially since they brought back Palpatine....). There's also the fact that they mentioned the world between worlds in TROS visual dictionary and also chose to point out that Exogal (where he 'died') connects to it. Ahsoka died and was brought back to life through the world between worlds nexus, not once but twice I believe, so it's canon that it can happen. And Ahsoka was one of the voices Rey heard.
FFUUUCCCKKKKKK YEWSSSSSSSSSS GIRRLLL IISS THE EXACT SAME SHIT THAT I THINK AND THAT PISSED ME OFF AS FUCK AND I STILL SSSOOO FUCKING MAD AND I STILL KINDA CRYING SINCE THE 26TH AHAHAA AND I JUST CAN'T KEEP UP WITH MY SELF AND I KNOW IT DOES SOUNDS STUPID ......😭😭
Quote from TLJ novelization. Luke calls Ben's Kylo person just a shell that hides a broken boy who felt betrayed by everyone and in TROS that persona finally breaks.
han sacrificed himself attempting to bring ben back to the light. luke sacrificed himself attempting to bring ben back to the light. leia sacrificed herself attempting to bring ben back to the light. rey sacrificed herself to save everyone. and it wasn't necessary for her to survive it. she had fulfilled her destiny by defeating the bad guy. ben solo could have just walked away. but rey dying allowed ben solo the opportunity to avenge the sacrifice of his entire family. ben solo CHOSE to do the right thing. a pure selfless and heroic act. he avenged his family by doing the most skywalker/solo thing he could do. he sacrificed himself so that rey could live.
What if Rey was pregnant at end of movie . Because when she was at the family home on Tatooine ,she said she is a Skywalker -Kylo revived Rey with his life force ,did he use the force to give her a child as he died. Asking for a friend.
Honestly, I don't think this is the end of Ben Solo. There were a few clues as to why I say this. Firstly, it was revealed they were dyads in the force, meaning they belong together and you can't have one without the other. This was actually hinted at throughout all of the first two movies. And Palpatine himself said that their bond was akin to life/renewal itself, meaning that maybe it could somehow bring Ben back. Then secondly, after Rey buried the light sabers in the sand, only Luke and Leia's force ghosts appeared. This was the biggest clue for me because I expected to see him there with his mom and uncle looking on his love. I can't imagine that if he was a force ghost he wouldn't be constantly watching nearby considering how great his love for her was Lastly, even though it's the last in the Skywalker Saga, I don't think it's over for Ben and Rey because he's a Solo. And that's the crux of it: he killed his dad and so his death was inevitable. He has to die to pay for his sins. But that doesn't mean he has to stay dead. And while Jedi ressurrection isn't super common, he did ressurrect Rey. But this death of his allows justice to be done so WHEN we see him again, everyone can truly "let go of the past". I could be wrong but it just ended so abruptly and there was something so strong between them, I doubt it's over. I hope not.
honestly i thought it's better that rey is the one who die rather than kylo, i mean now it's just like return of the jedi all over again with the protagonist try to save the former bad guy and the bad guy died to save the protagonist
Don't worry That's why the literary gods created fanficton writers. We fix endings that are wrong. We fix omitted things. We fix all of the things. It's already happening lol.
Ben’s death ruined the entire movie. Totally unnecessary end, couldn’t believe it. I think Adam Driver’s acting was the best among all of them! His voice as Kylo is unbelievably characteristic and he shouldn’t have died!
Ben dying was such a terrible story telling move. This kid who has had someone influence them their entire life finally breaks free and becomes who he really is just to die moments later...what a great story to tell.
but he died doing a selfless act, which speaks volumes about his character.. imo its still a good story, the way they did it maybe not the best, but the idea is there
Killing Ben was a Mistake. he should have been the rise of Skywalker, well he was a Skywalker, if they wanted the Palpy twist, then have rey and Ben get together and have little Plapy-Skywalkers
Byron Mcdonald I know it’s not a popular opinion, but yes, I am. I think they would’ve balanced each other out. I’m interested in what their future and their kids would’ve been like.
It would had been a better ending than Kylo dying, but remember that a Jedi can’t marry or have a family so they couldn’t have been together. After all, breaking this rule is what made Anakin become Darth Vader
My heart broke when Ben died, he was the most interesting character. It should have gone one of three ways: 1. As Palpatine said to Rey 'strike me down and all of the sith will flow into you' (or something like that I only saw it once), as she was going to do it have Ben come and strike Palpatine down instead to save her; then their relationship would have brought balance as they became 'the Grey' of the force. 2. As Rey holds up Leia's lightsaber to repel Palpatine's lighting attack, Ben should have came up behind her wielding Luke's lightsaber and both kill Palpatine reaffirming the whole 'two become one' and still have enough strength to live, kiss, then go to Tatooine and both claim they are Skywalkers - confirming Rey redeems her bloodline and Ben's rejection of the dark side, and the beginning of their relationship, while been looked upon by all the Skywalker family as force ghosts. 3. Have a 'Romeo and Juliet' moment and have them both die after they kiss -- as it's the end of the 'Skywalker' Saga it also ends both families at the heart of it and starting a completely fresh start for future movies, because really at the end of it Palpatine rules in the end (well that's how it made me feel)
From all the videos, tweets, posts and even some reviews the most consistant thing is that a hell of a lot of fans and non fans alike have not agreed or liked Ben Solo being killed off. Its a cruel move from JJ and Kathleen Kennedy and Disney too. It didn't need to happen. As they are soulmates and both had a horrible life growing up, it would have been fulfilling to see them be happy for once. There was another ending or several that are rumoured to be, but last minute reshoots and script changes as late as August I think meant we were robbed of a decent ending all round. If anyone has anymore details about the alt endings, please let me know, need to hold on to something here....unless Ben is actually trapped in the world between worlds, as thats another theory. This means Rey would need to get him back. Remember no is ever really gone.

katie your right that was a cruel thing to let Ben die they should have found happiness they were were soulmates I followed all the leaks on you tube before they released TROS and there was an alternate ending shot according to Mike Zeroh he said they filmed scenes with Ben and Rey having a family or they both had visions of this but they scapped the scenes.if they could show that on a DVD when it comes I'd buy it but I don't know if they will put it in. If you want to look up Mike Zeroh The Rise of skywalker Kylo ren's son leak and Mike Zeroh"s Rey and her children he will be talking about the scenes they shot. I also think theres a door open for another movie because when he died Liea's body disappeared why didn't it sooner and maz knew something when it did fade she smiled I think Liea really died after Ben and gave her life force to him. Where he is i don't know but they should have Rey go a quest to find him I'd like to see that movie
this is just not fair.. I told my son that why Rey can save a person without her need to die , and yet Ben need to die after saving her, not fair... sob sob . .really sad
@@angelacreech5655 brilliant! Thanks for telling me about Mike Zeroh, watched it and can't believe they cut 30% of the film!!! I'm hoping too they put this stuff on the dvd release but I bet Disney will be cowards again. I'm hoping the push back and dissatisfaction will force them to release it. Or come up with another way to bring Ben back or something. It's gone so bad for them. They ruined a finale just to please a small amount of people so they could easily give satisfaction to a whole load of fans with deleted scenes
Still a shame that they killed off the one person who had the most character arc and growth throughout the series and for which the movie is named after. Ben solo deserved better than this. He should have risen not rey
Brandy Norris it was the rise of skywalker. Ben. His rise from the dark side, and into the light. From his own emotional cage. This wasn't Reys movie. It shouldn't have been anyways.
@@cityguard4847 i agree, i do think they did a wonderful job of how they did the story. I have no doubt about that, I just preferred it (in my own opinion) that they handled his death in a more respectful way. With both him and rey working together as they were before they threw him off the cliff. That's all im trying to say
City Guard It was the rise of Rey choosing her destiny and choosing to identify as a member of the Skywalker family with both Luke and Leia’s blessing both before and after their deaths. Kylo Ren wanted to be like his grandfather as Darth Vader. Interestingly enough, Ben became like Anakin in that he lost his life to save a member of his family. They are connected in the force. Rey is the rising Skywalker.
Okey, if Palpatine came alive again for somewhat unexplained bizarre reasons, let's hope Ben Solo will be live again in coming Star Wars movies. Ben's death broke my heart, he shouldn't have died.

BEN NEEDED TO LIVE! he redeemed himself, but no one else will ever know how good of a man Ben is. I swear that I’m in love with him, but I’m not just saying that he needed to live because of that. I believe that he was morphed into Rey. His darkness entered her, creating the perfect balance of the force. I wish he could’ve become a force ghost, but he can’t because he is in Rey. I am still crying and I saw the movie yesterday.
Ben would have been preceded for all his crimes against the democracy and the tons of people he killed, so Rey and Ben would have never been happy anyways
But him dying was part of redeeming himself, because if you remember what Palpatin told Ankin in I think episode 3 about how he could save other people but not himself, that plays into the episode 9.
I loved the bond between the two. It was passion and you can feel the emotion even with the fight scenes. Adam did such an amazing. It made sense their bond and why he gave his life to her. It was beautiful. I just wished he didn't have to die and a skywalker can finally live with their love. But I guess he did what vader couldn't. Bring back life.
Not a very Disney-like ending. Did not like Ben dying, Rey is notna Skywalker, should have Ben and been a Solo. We needed Reylo babies for future stories.
the fact that none of the Jedi talked to Ben when he was worthy in the end. He should've gotten out that pit to join Rey in defeating palatine together. smh...
I was heartbroken when Ben died, but at the same time, I'm happy he died as a hero. What kind of life would he have had if he had lived? Both parents dead, the woman he loved, dead, there was no life for him. He wouldn't exactly be welcomed by anyone else.
@@FlicksAndTheCity Well that makes sense too.. but at least he deserved more than 20 seconds of happiness after they kissed :") at least he finally redeemed. Great movie but not the best for me. Plus for the ending: Me when Rey said: Rey Skywalker. Gurl, you are Palpatine, aren't you??!! Mixed feelings for the ending :( Thanksss for your video anyway! Greetings from Indonesia 😆
Ben’s death was sad but at the same time beautiful. There is no deeper love than to risk or give up your life for whomever you love, be it your spouse, parent, child, puppy, etc. I watched the movie multiple times and cried every time I watched scenes with Ben and Han, Ben and Leia, and Ben and Rey. It was all about selfless love and forgiveness. LOVED TROS.
Yes, I cried so hard, everyone there did, even the guy I was with sniffled during the last 1/2 hr & asked me for a tissue😁 two geeks from 1977 LOLOL 😉 😂
He gave his own life up for Rey, what was left of it after Palpatine sucked the life out of their force bond anyways. He died so she could live because he couldn't bear to see her dead an it was BEAUTIFUL. My reylo heart is warm and broken at the same time. I love TROS.
ben did not need to die, ARE WE NOT ALLOWED HAPPY ENDINGS ANYMORE. im solely disappointed in this move they deserved a much better ending it being rush they truly did mess this up and i am very annoyed, REYLO WILL LIVE ON!!!!!
Azeshan Yuri content The “happy ending” is that all the people in the galaxy will be free from death and oppression. The happy ending was bigger than two people. The happy ending was the emperor was defeated, and all people will be free to love and be free. Every hero in the Star Wars story was fighting for the greater good, not personal gain.
I LOVED this movie. It might not satisfy everyone but getting the answers I needed and all the messages behind it, made me realise even more how lucky I am to have been able to watch these movies. Thank you for another amazing video!!!
@what even If everything was neatly tied up in a pretty bow, it wouldn't be Star Wars. Did you complain when we had no clear answer to Obi-Wan's corpse disappearing? Or when Darth Vader's reveal was at odds with Obi-Wan's explanation? Or what would happen to the rest of the Imperial forces after Endor? Or how Anakin was conceived? Or where all the Republic war machinery came from? Or how Padme just ... gave up the will to live? (Well, actually, I complained about that last one, TBH) Star Wars has been and ever shall be, filled with the mysteries of The Force and those who use it. When we know exactly what the Force is capable of, its rules and limits, or what people can and can't do with it, then the mystery of that part of Star Wars will die. And the delightfulness of possibility will die with it.
I honestly felt nothing after walking out of the screening... Say what you will about the last jedi, but that movie made some bold choices and i was intrigued by it. ROS completely retcons the last jedi and doubles down on nostalgia and fan-service, without feeling earned.
I absolutely agree! The change in storytelling style becomes very apparent. I am sad that they undid a lot of what tlj had brought to the saga in terms of depth and themes just to please the haters!!!!
This movie honestly broke my heart. I haven’t felt this way about a star wars movie since Anakin went to the dark side. And when he smiled right before he died🥺🥺 It wasn’t fair that they had to kill him off like that
shoulve just rolled the end credits after Ben had died. The final scenes of the movies were just enough time for me to suck up the tears. to make the death a little better, bens spirit shouldve appeared aside rey after he died to symbolize he would always be with rey.
Good video! Nice to see some positivity in this fandom for a change. I wish Ben hadn't died and had lived on to fully atone for the things he'd done as Kylo Ren, but I understand why they chose to go with redemption=death (even though I think it's a rather lazy trope) to make it "rhyme" with the rest of the Saga. Honestly, it worked for me better than I thought it would. He finally showed he was capable of completely selfless love by sacrificing his life so Rey could live, and that's beautiful, and I love that he got one moment of radiant happiness and love before he died. Plus, I believe that his spirit or whatever you want to call it now lives in Rey, due to them being a dyad and Rey explaining earlier in the movie that Force healing involves transferring some of your life to someone else. Ben transferred *all* of his life to her, which makes sense (a life for a life), so that plus their bond implies to me that his life force now lives in Rey. So they're not alone, they'll always be together, and it also explains why he didn't show up as a Force Ghost and why Rey didn't seem sadder about his death. He's not really gone! Anyway, I had issues with TROS, but I loved Kylo/Ben's arc. He's the best thing about the sequel trilogy (which I love.)
Rise of Skywalker was a great ending to all three trilogies (could have been better if JJ Abrams had been able to do all three movies to the sequel trilogy, and didnt have to double time it because of Last Jedi). So I love how this video was carefully put together like an essay that researched through all the movies. I would just add that it really seems like Leia didnt just use the Force to distract and connect with her son, but also surrendered her energy so that Rey could heal him from a mortal wound. Which I think is proven because Ben dies when he heals Rey, AND Leia's body finally disappears when Ben dies and disappears. It adds to how both of his parents reached out to their angry, confused, sad, and probably too depressed son. But it also makes his Romeo and Juliet like death more of a beautiful scene, because essentially Leia helped both Ben and Rey one more time.
I Loved the movie a lot!! But like everyone,i was dissapointed when Ben died ;-;,at the end they could've atleast add him with his parents as a force ghost, smiling at Rey.Also, Thanks for the explanation!
@@NanneEsqui13 yes I mean he killed his dad so pretty much no going back he takes charge of the 1st order it could have ended with him as another emporer and spawn a few more films.....but that's too much to ask for instead we get this shit.
@@crystalteardrop2605 he was haunted by that moment, he thought that's what he needed to be evil but he was never really evil imo he just felt betrayed. Luke fucked up and then Ben felt like no one believed in him even when his family did. Then after hearing Darth and the dark side say that he's supported by them he fell for it and kept trying to prove he deserves it by doing shit like that.
I don’t know why or understand but when Ben dies it’s like this little bitty light inside me died. Star Wars is about hope, and what it can do to save people or destroy them. By giving me a chance to see Rey and Ben kiss, letting me hold on to something so precious, something so hopeful only to snatch hurts more than they’ll understand. Movies me everything to me, and this, well this broke my heart. Every thought about it brings tears to my eyes. It was unbelievably heroic what he did for her, but it also seemed he loved her a lot more than he let on. In my eyes I think he did what he did because he loved her so much. And that hurts even more because he didn’t deserve to die, he deserved a second chance taken from and that’s why this movie ending will forever make me cry and haunt my dreams.
I dont even know who to ship anymore! LOL. I think that Finn wanted to say he loved Rey, like come on, he was worried when she left, screamed when she died, cried when she came back.
As I saw it, Leia didn’t stop Kylo from killing Rey. Rey was the aggressive one the whole time during that battle. First he dodged her lightsaber, and jumped away. She came after him and continued to strike with rage and fury. Eventually he had enough, and he started to give her some resistance. They both eventually started to get worn out. And when she fell, he stood over her, his saber almost striking, but he stopped and turned to walk away. Then. At this moment Leia reaches him and he drops his lightsaber in surprise. Rey catches it and mortally wounds him with it. She sees/feels his pain as she senses Leia’s death , instantly regrets her dark deed, and is filled with compassion. She then heals him and confesses that she did want to be with him as Ben, not Ren; before she runs off to go into exile. (This is how I understood it while watching it in the cinema. I could of course be mistaken.)
I don’t like the ending but I understand it because inevitably he DID do the one thing his grandfather was striving to do but never did. Save the one he loved from dying. Anakin didn’t save Padme but Ben DID save Rey so I’d say he was stronger in his own way.
If you think star wars and the jedis were about "ruling the world" you missed the entire point of the series. It was never to rule the world, it was to bring balance to the force. With no Sith, there are no Jedis. Because of balance. That's why Kylo had to die and Rey buried her lightsaber
i feel like every people in the world could explain the ending to me, and even though it made sense, my heart would still broken. they deserved so much better
That scene with Han and Ben is brilliant. Honestly, Ben's whole redemption arc was just really nice in my opinion. I don't actually mind that he died, I think it was sad but it made sense to me. Edit: fixed some bad wording
it is refreshing to watch this positive review, a little turned off by all the other reviews that went straight to jumping into conclusion that the movie is trash because ooh ray isnt a skywalker and will never be one no mater what and therefore the movie sucks. or that they preferred that rey was a nobody and fresh and new storyline and characters are in order. but these so-called fans forgot the overarching saga through 9 movies, that this whole thing boils down to good versus evil and the skywalkers and the siths are in the center of this particular story. the skywalkers, the jedis. it is no wonder that history repeats itself in this saga and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. also it is eloquently explained why rey proclaims herself to be a skywalker, it is by legacy, not lineage, love the movie review. the movie isnt perfect, but it is not terrible by a long shot, left the theater feeling uplifted, even more so than the time i finished watching TLJ. if there's one little grief about the movie, among other imperfections, is that C3PO should have not recovered his data bank, because it undermines the scenes prior to his sacrifice, it was a solemn moment that was ruined by his instant memory recovery, just my personal preference, it should be a bitter sweet scene, where C3PO wakes up after he was rebooted, and immediately ask for "master Anakin" , because obvious reasons. oh the FEELS and parts way with the "strangers" that had actually been there and gone through numerous adventures with him, a life he lived but had forgotten.
I also firmly believe that Kylo already had seen his future that he had to die to save Ray and eventually he will be with the light side. This is why he said "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it" to his father twice because he was scared and conflicted. But in the last scene he knew what he have to do it to save Ray and he didn't hesitate that time. He admits his destiny and saved his love and found peace with it.
The ending ruined the entire movie for me. It was so rushed and it make all of the sacrifices for Ben absolutely worthless. There were ways to make it so he didn't die. For one, if she was ALL of the Jedi then Ben could have started the process of bringing her back and the rest of the Jedi finished it. Or they now share one life energy "You die, I die" scenario. Sure, Ben couldn't go back to the resistance but they could have met up on Tatooine before living a life together. It was also very jarring for Rey to show absolutely NO emotion after Ben died in her arms. The person she had been *waiting* for and had just shared an intimate moment with before losing him (why did he force ghost?!). I didn't mind TLJ but this was seriously a game of "yes, and" between JJ and JR in which after TLJ JJ just picked up his toys and went home.
If you read the canon it’s a force ability called “ force revival” it’s means you transfer your Essence inside someone else, it ends up killing the Person doing it though because it consumes so much energy ending it killing the person in the end . Kylo transfer his spirit/ consciousness inside of Rey, he’s apart of her now, beautiful story
She didn't even shed a tear after he died or even thought about him also i totally agree with you on your comment and i don't get how people find this a beautiful love story one that doesn't had any build up romance(little bit in the last jedi but then she left him wich made him feel abandoned so that breaks the mood)i saw reylo coming since the first movie and supported it but their relationship in these three movies we're rushed and their kiss seemed forced,i did like the reylo scenes in the rise of skywalker but this is not a convincing relationship to me they obiviously didn't had a plan for any of the characters on star wars espascially for how these two can fell in love.
I guess she didn’t show emotion because she didn’t spend proper time when he really switched to be a good guy and she knew he knew he was spending his last moments with her so she wasn’t suprized and she made the most of the moment.and the clip after he died was like 5 seconds
People saying Ben should've lived but I'm just not sure how that would've been possible, he needed all that force power to revive Rey. Ultimately he sacrificed himself for the sake of good and someone he cared deeply about, no better way to go out.
I remember saying to my husband after seeing the force awakens that there was and incredible amount of sexual tension between Rey and Kylo Ren. I said that these two were star crossed lovers and that hate is very much as strong as love and often confused by the person experiencing it. I just knew that the way that Ren and Rey kept canceling out each other when they fought that they would come to realize that they actually loved one another. I also felt that Kylo Rens struggle and the pain he was feeling was his very soul crying out to be at peace. He thought that killing his father would end all his pain when it actually only compounded it. I felt that this was truly a story of redemption and that in the end all the evil that he had done in the past wouldn't keep him from reaching out to that redemption that Rey offered him. The chance to choose whom he would be. His days of being ruled by his past, his belief that he couldn't turn back to the light, that it was too late for him to begin again and be a force for good that's what was tearing him apart. He saw no other path before him. And his salvation was Rey. She never gave up believing in him. And at the ending of Rise of the Skywalker when they fought together it proved that they were stronger together than alone. Ben Solo was reborn and Kylo Ren was dead. He was ready to sacrifice himself for Rey. And yes I thought it was bittersweet that they finally realized their love for one another. The look on his face before he died was one of a joy, peace, and release. I could hear people around me crying and I handed a tissue to the lady next to me. I would have prefered that he go on to use his powers to fight the dark forces for good and grow into the man that Rey knew he could be. I would have prefered that he and Rey combine their powers together and finally bring balance to the force. But I guess no one likes happy endings anymore. I DO!
1. Her new light saber means the completion of her Jedi training! 2. "Skywalker" is not a blood-name! Anikin has no family name and adapted "Skywalker". So, Rey can adapt it too.
I thought that Rey and Ben seemed happy [at the end] so I was like he's going to survive, so when he died, I cried. But overall it was a wonderful, interesting movie.
Thanos: I am inevitable Tony: And I am iron man VS Palpatine: I am all the sith Rey: I am all the jedi Tell me I ain't dreaming, they are the exact same scene!!!!
it seems I'm one of the few that really liked the ending. I had felt going into it last night that characters would get killed off. the movie teased it a couple times with Chewy and C3PO to name two. Ben knew he could never come back from what he did. i hope we dont see another 'chapter'
Eliana H agree. If he would have lived, he would have most likely had to live with the guilt of his previous life as Kylo Ren and there would have been an outrage over the fact he was alive. It sucked seeing him die, but in the end, it was necessary to have a peaceful end to his journey.
Am I the only one who thinks Ben's "force healing" will get Rey pregnant? Midichlorians are strong in them. So--- Also, taking the skywalker name, is pretty symbolic. Not only is it an homage to the twins, Its like being a daughter or something. Also it is "Rise of the Skywalker" I dunno.... Kylo was holding her stomach.
The movie was amazing but I mean the ending sucked ass. Ben should not have died. He could have given half his life power/force not all. We needed some kind of other positive way to end the main series something to be left to the imagination for their relationship.
Yeah like since he became one with the force like when she visited Tatooine make him a force ghost like everyone else in the freakin sequel. Let her at least be able to see him ya know?
@@seabunny5565 Would be the greatest thing if he was to live. But doesn't mean being a force ghost is bad either. They would at least be able to see each other at any time.
@@alwarrior1148 yeah. I have no problem with him being a force ghost but he didnt have to die like Vader he deserved better. And I wish he hadn't died in general.
@@seabunny5565 I can understand that too. I mean that is what killed me. Personally I don't think he deserved to die. Both Rey and Ben should've lived on for the ending...this is exactly why I have mixed feelings about the ending. I can't make a one sided opinion about it. The positives and negatives match up almost in the middle.
I personally loved TROS and didn't have a problem with JJ and Chris's decisions for the characters. Although if somebody didn't like it I still respect your opinion.
Ben should have lived to be with Rey because of their bond. It was clear that their "force bond" was most likely another way of saying they were soul mates. So I was disappointed when he died.
Think about it. Yes I am equally as mad that Ben died, but he did finish what Darth Vader set out to do and why he agreed to join the dark side. Anakin wanted to save Padme from death by achieving what was basically immortality and being able to cheat death. Ben couldn't bear it to see the one he loved dead. So he gave what was left of his life force to Rey, thus saving her and finishing what Anakin started. BOOM MIC DROP 😎👌😭❤
Thanks, Jan! 😊 I loved (and thoroughly enjoyed) THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. I've seen it twice already (once in 2D, once in 3D) and I'm seeing it a third time Monday night! #ILoveStarWars I especially appreciated your highlighting the history of the title of Cæsar (and how it began as a name... adopted by subsequent rulers)... excellent and applicatory observation.
I feel like if Ben would’ve survived he would’ve constantly been scared of going back to the dark side, so maybe it’s better for him to die. Still, he was my favorite character in this trilogy and I don’t think he should’ve died... It’s like saying if you’re a bad person and decide to become a good one, you necessarily have to die. And that’s not just in the Star Wars saga, pretty much all the new Disney movies. Same thing happened to Loki in the Marvel Universe: he finally started to be himself and a better person, rather then being controlled by Thanos and he died to save Thor. Ben was finally himself, he helped Rey kill Palpatine and destroy the First Order, yet to prove he was *really* a good guy now, he had to die by saving Rey. It seems we can’t just say he’s a good person because he joined the light side and helped Rey defeat the emperor, we necessarily need to prove it by his death, like if you don’t die for someone else you’re not actually a good person. And he sacrificed himself for Rey, and we didn’t even got a scene were she looks sad about his death, she didn’t mourned him or anything like that. She didn’t even *thanked* him before he died... I just hoped we could’ve seen him as a force ghost, like we saw Leia and Luke at the end. In every trilogy we always saw the force ghosts of the dead Jedi, but we didn’t saw him... We even saw Anakin, who was a much more bad person the Ben... But at least I guess it’s better for him to die happy then to live sad...
Hey Movie Lovers, what did you think of The Rise of Skywalker? 😲😍😭😊
Flicks And The City Duhhh
It was fantastic, bittersweet but great!
Oh, and thank you for you explanation video(s).
So good Jan, thanks for the video!

Tess Stearmer oh ok sorry

I thought, "Fuck he gorgeous"
Yea he can anyone can
Kylo Ren was Ben and train by Luke and Luke train by Obi Wan and Yoda.
Yes! Absolutely! It was sad, but necessary
Why did he die,he wS my favorite character out of this trilogy, why?
also inline with the end of the skywalker bloodline, they all gone! There is no rise of the skywalker... Rey is a palpatine
It's because JJ Abrams hates YOU specificly
It would explain why there was no Ben Force Ghost.
It’s so sad because bens last words where “ouch” he didn’t even talk to Rey at all after that and I’m upset they didn’t get much dialogue near the end
Less talking, more kissing!

Could that be a hint that he’s not really dead? There’s a theory about World Between Worlds and that he could potentially come back to life. I need a continuation of this 😭

I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that Ben Solo died, I had figured out before I saw the movie about their feelings. It would have been nice to have a love couple in Star Wars❤️
disney just want to left lucas's shadow...
He had to die, he killed his father and many other people.
And superpowered babies!!!”
But there was a couple since episode 7. They kissed and part of the reason to accept her new name is also because of Ben.
Pity he died. Imagine if they had kids together. Kids with Skywalker and Palpatine blood. That would have made a great new story arc.
Yh that could have been good but ....Noooooooo JJ needed to fuck that and make him die without being really necessary 😭😭...
I agree. Very powerful
They were not start crossed lovers.
I’m over here thinking the next writer for the (I feel inévitable) episode 10 will somehow bring him back. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but idk
Jedis cant have kids no?
It’s frustrating that they kill kylo Ren
Teaching people if you turn good you die?
They deserved a happy ending together
They could start a new saga of both of them ruling together
She was dead, Kylo was pretty messed up and drained already and gave her his last force essence that was keeping him barely alive to give life to her because he knows she is pure and the hope the galaxy needs. That’s how I read it.
this is not a romantic movie
Animation Geek no they can’t.
I think it was kinda unnecessary for Ben to die. Other then Ben dieing the movie was great.
the stongest love to give our life for somebody's sake
They should’ve had super powered babies!!

@@JeremyWilliamson After watching it the second time I have learned to understand why he died.....but I still kinda wish he lived.
Kairi completely agree with your assessment! Ben was definitely under appreciated.
Kairi well said
Kairi couldn’t have said it better! Apparently nowadays, if you were a bad person and you decide to become a good person you necessarily have to die.
@@Stella-vp5zg Yea, never used to be like that >.>
As much as I loved the movie the ending pissed me off.
Sophia Espenida Game of thrones all over again am I right

Lol
She didn't mourn because he was inside her, he passed into her, and she was in shock and disoriented, she'd been dead and just came back to life.

Loved the movie but wish Kylo had lived. If Rey and Kylo had had a baby their story would have continued. 😢

Don't worry
That's why the literary gods created fanficton writers. We fix endings that are wrong. We fix omitted things. We fix all of the things.
It's already happening lol.
Stop it, that Reylo stuff is nonsense.
Ben’s death ruined the entire movie. Totally unnecessary end, couldn’t believe it. I think Adam Driver’s acting was the best among all of them! His voice as Kylo is unbelievably characteristic and he shouldn’t have died!
I'm dissapointed

Ben dying was such a terrible story telling move. This kid who has had someone influence them their entire life finally breaks free and becomes who he really is just to die moments later...what a great story to tell.
Yasmin Riglar this is the only explanation that makes sense ngl
but he died doing a selfless act, which speaks volumes about his character.. imo its still a good story, the way they did it maybe not the best, but the idea is there
Would you say that Anakin's death was a terrible story telling move too??
Killing Ben was a Mistake. he should have been the rise of Skywalker, well he was a Skywalker, if they wanted the Palpy twist, then have rey and Ben get together and have little Plapy-Skywalkers
Tarja Resia : That actually would’ve been great. If that happened it would symbolize how there is no light or dark side anymore. Just unity
I wish that Ben would have lived and him and Rey could’ve started a life together.

Byron Mcdonald I know it’s not a popular opinion, but yes, I am. I think they would’ve balanced each other out. I’m interested in what their future and their kids would’ve been like.
I respect that. Point taken.
That would've been amazing!!!
It would had been a better ending than Kylo dying, but remember that a Jedi can’t marry or have a family so they couldn’t have been together. After all, breaking this rule is what made Anakin become Darth Vader
It should not end like that
Shelbi Edwards Ben and Rey should’ve had a super powered babies
What
@@distortiondaisiras What
cuffed jeans Hahaha what the fuck
My heart broke when Ben died, he was the most interesting character.
It should have gone one of three ways:

Sydney Ferrando same
*oh my god same. I WILL NEVER BE OKAY BECAUSE HE IS DEAD AND IM SO SAD*
Oh behave yourself. Still crying a day later lol
When Rey took the name Skywalker it reminded me of Rose taking the name Dawson in Titanic! It's like she took on Ben's name when he died. Love it.
Omg it was just like Titanic 😅😳
I loved the bond between the two. It was passion and you can feel the emotion even with the fight scenes. Adam did such an amazing. It made sense their bond and why he gave his life to her. It was beautiful. I just wished he didn't have to die and a skywalker can finally live with their love. But I guess he did what vader couldn't. Bring back life.
Me: I am Iron Man
Rey: I am all the Jedi
And I am inevitable!

Iron Man when she said “I am” I thought “Iron Man” then I realised
this is not the way...
Rest In Peace Kylo
Not a very Disney-like ending. Did not like Ben dying, Rey is notna Skywalker, should have Ben and been a Solo. We needed Reylo babies for future stories.
the fact that none of the Jedi talked to Ben when he was worthy in the end. He should've gotten out that pit to join Rey in defeating palatine together. smh...
Honestly, I miss Kylo Ren. :(
when Palpatine says "I am all the Sith" and Rey goes "and I am all the Jedi" and destroys him. Favorite part, that was so great.
I was heartbroken when Ben died, but at the same time, I'm happy he died as a hero. What kind of life would he have had if he had lived? Both parents dead, the woman he loved, dead, there was no life for him. He wouldn't exactly be welcomed by anyone else.
Ben shouldn’t die in the ending! If Ben alive, Disney can make new Skywalker saga in next 10 years. With story concentrate to Rey & Ben.
I thought that Ben didn't need to transfer all his life energy to Rey so that they can live together :((
It would be a bit awkward to have a mass murderer survive the trilogy, even if Rey did love him...
@@FlicksAndTheCity Well that makes sense too.. but at least he deserved more than 20 seconds of happiness after they kissed :") at least he finally redeemed. Great movie but not the best for me. @@FlicksAndTheCity but it worked for Revan and Bastila, why not here?
Yeah a lot of scenes were rushed, especially his death. It should have had a bit more time.
LOVED TROS.
Anyone notice every skywalker sacrificed themselves
I ate those food
Yes. They all sacrificed themselves, so Rey could be part of Skywalker family in the end.
His death crushed me. Like I get why it was done. But it hurt my heart.
Yes, I cried so hard, everyone there did, even the guy I was with sniffled during the last 1/2 hr & asked me for a tissue😁 two geeks from 1977 LOLOL 😉 😂
"You know I can take whatever I want"
By all means....you have my permission
He gave his own life up for Rey, what was left of it after Palpatine sucked the life out of their force bond anyways. He died so she could live because he couldn't bear to see her dead an it was BEAUTIFUL. My reylo heart is warm and broken at the same time. I love TROS.
ben did not need to die, ARE WE NOT ALLOWED HAPPY ENDINGS ANYMORE. im solely disappointed in this move they deserved a much better ending it being rush they truly did mess this up and i am very annoyed, REYLO WILL LIVE ON!!!!!

The “happy ending” is that all the people in the galaxy will be free from death and oppression. The happy ending was bigger than two people. The happy ending was the emperor was defeated, and all people will be free to love and be free. Every hero in the Star Wars story was fighting for the greater good, not personal gain.
Texan1836 reylo is delicious :)
Rey was actually dead, Ben firce resurrected her, force healing us when someone is severely hurt, gets healed, there is a difference.
I LOVED this movie. It might not satisfy everyone but getting the answers I needed and all the messages behind it, made me realise even more how lucky I am to have been able to watch these movies.

Anna's Fan World I hate this movie
@@bananatank9048 aw, that's too bad. But that's just fine, everyone has their own opinion 😊
@what even very true. It answered some past question but now new ones kept popping up. We will just have to wait and see 😁
@what even If everything was neatly tied up in a pretty bow, it wouldn't be Star Wars.
(Well, actually, I complained about that last one, TBH)
Star Wars has been and ever shall be, filled with the mysteries of The Force and those who use it. When we know exactly what the Force is capable of, its rules and limits, or what people can and can't do with it, then the mystery of that part of Star Wars will die. And the delightfulness of possibility will die with it.
I love how everyone here is raging about the fact that Kylo died, it's sad though, what were they thinking?
I honestly felt nothing after walking out of the screening... Say what you will about the last jedi, but that movie made some bold choices and i was intrigued by it. ROS completely retcons the last jedi and doubles down on nostalgia and fan-service, without feeling earned.
Very true about TLJ!
I absolutely agree! The change in storytelling style becomes very apparent. I am sad that they undid a lot of what tlj had brought to the saga in terms of depth and themes just to please the haters!!!!
@@FlicksAndTheCity Love your explanation. Now, understanding 70% of the movie... lol

Exactly what I thought!!
Who else remembers when Kylo Ren kissed Rey and then *evaporated* in The Rise of Skywalker
And Star Wars is a trilogy of trilogies
The reason why Ben just disappeared was because he found peace just like every other Jedi when they died
But it also makes his Romeo and Juliet like death more of a beautiful scene, because essentially Leia helped both Ben and Rey one more time.
yes i think the trilogy would be better if JJ directed all 3, that way there wouldnt be a gap in the story
end with bullshit... just end..
I Loved the movie a lot!! But like everyone,i was dissapointed when Ben died ;-;,at the end they could've atleast add him with his parents as a force ghost, smiling at Rey.Also, Thanks for the explanation!

They say this is the last movie but I don't believe it
I don’t know why or understand but when Ben dies it’s like this little bitty light inside me died.
10:18 God I love his profile ........
I dont even know who to ship anymore! LOL. I think that Finn wanted to say he loved Rey, like come on, he was worried when she left, screamed when she died, cried when she came back.
In the symbolism of Ben and Rey finally taking each others hand before his death would make her a Skywalker in union or marriage if you will.
I wish that Ben should have been part of Rey's life as her partner and rule the new world without the Evil
If you think star wars and the jedis were about "ruling the world" you missed the entire point of the series. It was never to rule the world, it was to bring balance to the force. With no Sith, there are no Jedis. Because of balance. That's why Kylo had to die and Rey buried her lightsaber
@@wendy_nf4778 but she still has hers.
i feel like every people in the world could explain the ending to me, and even though it made sense, my heart would still broken. they deserved so much better
Every skywalker has died in an act to save the Galaxy. It is their destiny.
I think Reylo is immortal and has everything:love, passion, balance and understanding. Even in death, they will be together.
Lea Love definitely agree with Rey showing no emotion!
jj had no choice....
For some reason I think he’ll come back to life some way some how. 🖤🌑🖤
I DO!
yeah and i would of liked them teaming up on plpatine but that migh not have worked

it seems I'm one of the few that really liked the ending. I had felt going into it last night that characters would get killed off. the movie teased it a couple times with Chewy and C3PO to name two. Ben knew he could never come back from what he did. i hope we dont see another 'chapter'
Ben had to die, his sacrifice is what redeems him. It’s obvious and logical.
Nobody would have forgiven him and let him live anyway.
I agree Eliana. When he resurrected Rae, he gave his life for her. And I think he became a part of her, they are one now.
Eliana H agree. If he would have lived, he would have most likely had to live with the guilt of his previous life as Kylo Ren and there would have been an outrage over the fact he was alive. It sucked seeing him die, but in the end, it was necessary to have a peaceful end to his journey.
@@TheMeeshell23 it is a terrible tragic ending but could he really have lived with himself knowing he killed his own father.
Am I the only one who thinks Ben's "force healing" will get Rey pregnant? Midichlorians are strong in them. So---

Ben should have lived to be with Rey because of their bond. It was clear that their "force bond" was most likely another way of saying they were soul mates. So I was disappointed when he died.
They just killed the only character who had some development , so sad to see the greatness of StarWars fade away
Loved the film, everything about it; I just wish Ben had lived and he and Rey could have started a life of peace together. ✨
Whem Rey healed ?Ben, she gave him part of her lifeforce. He sacrificed his own life by giving it back to her at the end.
