Nothing in all of MCU and DCEU beats the tone of the first Iron Man movie and the casting of RDJ, it was so badass and refreshing - had me feeling like building myself a secret lab in my bedroom and work like Tony Stark
Even after all these years, the special effects of this movie hold up so well, better even than some of the more recent MCU movies. This was probably THE scene in Iron Man that did it for me.
CGI has been in a very bad place for years now😢 Everyone wants it, but don't want to pay for it, nor give enough time for it to look good. The result is perpetual overwork and underdelivery.
Man....what a scene...I remember that moment in the cinema when I saw the camera panning around the suit...massive smile on my face and still has the ability to do that
so much better than the fake looking nano suit ups. you can just tell those are fake and they way he moved in some scenes looked like they painted the suit on him post production. these early movies looked so real, like actual metal.
Yeah I was watching a BTS on this. So in this movie & Iron Man 2 (I think IM2), they used actual suits. Robert Downey Jr. & Don Cheadle shared how wearing the suits made them claustrophobic (or something of that nature. I just know they both hated wearing the suits), so they opted to go a different route, hence why future MCU films were filmed like that.
This! Even in Infinity War the first time Tony introduces his nano suit on his face it looks so fake, as if they just coloured the image. Very bad quality. These old ones were so satisfying!
@@iceditz_ No, they just needed to make more realistic animation. Btw, no one here believes the directors came up with an actual working Mark 2 prototype for shooting this one, so your point is kind of moot. They just needed to put more time in computer graphics for the nano suit which they failed in.
@@pionytudr your point is stupid, since the mark 2 armour wasnt complete cgi, it was a rubber/metal version of the suit so it looked better than nanotech, which has never been done before (besides black panther) so they wouldnt really know how it would form. also it never even looked bad, it was a realistic scene for a lot of people, because some people dont rewatch the same scene a 100 times to find errors to point out
This is the most badass opening scene for any Superhero. RDJ and Jon Favreau launched the entire MCU with just this scene and set the tone. The effects are so good as it has many practical elements which were changed in later movies to complete CGI. It still blow me away today as it did 16 years back.

IM 1 really sold the idea the suits are insanely complicated and Tony put a Lot of effort into every micrometer. The rest gloss over innovation, this revels in it.
This is by far the best looking iron man so real the CGI is just perfect...the nano suit on Avengers endgame looks like its made of cheap recycled plastic
this is one of many reason , why Mark 42 looks down graded in Iron Man 3, to keep Tony away from tempting to do something crazy again ( especially with his sleep deprivation resulting from anxiety attack issue) Yeap.. He learned from this mistake.
The skin temperature on certain portions of the SR-71's titanium skin neared 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Expansion from the heat made the plane grow nine inches longer during a normal flight.... So unless he was ascending extremely slowly then I don't think icing up would be problem.

The best suit up scene in the entire MCU.
Wrong In the entire superhero genre
This scene goes so hard! The Mk2 suit is the best Ironman suit in my opinion. The bare-metal and those exposed rivets... just wow. 🤣
100% agree.
Old MCU was special. The style of that suit was so mechanical and cool
