  • In this video, I go over spacing traps, which are kind of the opposite of frame traps. This concept is really simple and can be immediately applied to your gameplay to instantly improve it. Make sure your spacing is good, though! It is a SPACING trap after all.

You can even swap between frame traps and spacing traps for mind games! For example, Lucia st.mp combos into st.hp on CH however since st.hp is 8 frames and st.mp is +3 on block you will lose to a 3 frame normal if you just autopilot and go for the CH combo without confirming, however, if you space st.mp corrrectly it will makes sure most lighst will whiff and get whiff punish thanks to the range and hurtbox of st.hp. Not only that but if they attempt to interrup with a medium or heavy instead they'll get counter hit since those are 5 frames up. Granted some 4 frame normals will beat you (sakura's st.lk comes to mind) but there's where the actual frametrap comes to play as cr.mk will work as a legit frametrap at that range. Swapping between this two can really net you some mind game points!

Really interesting video. I'm surprised I'm not seeing much more info on the topic, as it seems applicable to a lot of different games. Maybe it's just that people don't use the term "spacing trap" a lot, even though that's what it is.
