This was wonderful Chris. I especially liked how you mentioned Simon A.C. Martin since he based Stephen from the "British Railway Stories" off of this engine.
I wonder how much of a tribute the End Of Steam/Sad Music part of his S.L.I.P.S. is influenced by B.R.S.? Although in spirit they are both based on reality! :)
@@KameronCousin It's fun, well put together, the plot actually exists, the dialogue is on point, and the later parts of the series helped me through the purgatory that was my High School/Teenage years, because there's enough discussion of bad things to relate to, but not so much as to sound like Henry: "I suffer Dreadfully, but No-One Cares!"
Another great Sole Slip! Seriously, you’re knocking these outta the park! The B12’s were always a favorite of mine, alongside Earl of Berkeley and the E4. Can’t wait to see the next one!
Nice little shout out to Simon AC Martin's The British Railway Series towards the end. If no one's seen it, you definitely should. Maybe a Gage the Issue idea for the future?
One of my favourite preserved locos, since my parents bought me a Hornby B12 ("8509") for Christmas! I really must buy a model of this loco in BR black..
Whilst people have said that this engine reminds them of Stephen and Alfred, to me, the character based off this engine that first came to mind was Ember from Crossed Lines.
Smashing video Chris. Me and Pip really enjoyed helping you film that weekend. I hope the the M&GNS enjoy as much as i did. Ever you need any help with other East Anglian based locos let me know
My favourite preserved loco! Thanks for doing this one Chris, being from Colchester I'll even overlook your disparaging comment about Essex at the start ;)
A fine locomotive. The only surviving British inside cylinder 4-6-0, the only surviving Stephen Holden-designed engine and the only surviving Great Eastern express engine, she's an engine to be savoured and treasured. And with the GEML shortly to be downgraded to crappy foreign EMUs, she's here to remind us of better times.
Such an elegant locomotive, i remember holidays in Norfolk in the 70's and visiting the NNR at Sheringham, back then the B12 was considered a no hoper with regard to it ever steaming again, but it was so nice to have a ride behind it to Holt a few years ago.
Well, I think you noticed this. That beautiful engine is Hazel from BosherStudios254 after TNSOATFB12. She is really beautiful and glad she is a surviving Stephen Holden engine.
A beautiful engine, and this lcomotive might be the nearest thing to a CR Cardean class still actually in existance. I enjoyed her in March on the SVR with the Gresley teak set behind her, and was the highlight of the gala for me.
Oooh afraid that's of that Alfred fanmade in voice Alfred by DarkWill3 wherever called however remembered ,voice sinister bold like Jack ripper serial killer.
I like how SOLE SLIP (along side S.L.I.P.) talks about how the Crews tend to think of the engines, and how they behave, as well as the technical parameters! :) It also appeases the people who think of Standardized designs as "Steam-Powered Hyenas" ;) (It's a pleasant surprise to see how the B.R.S. fandom still has life in it! I also could have sworn that I had subscribed to Chris Eden-Green before, but I guess UA-cam forgot...?)
It must be admitted that this loco owes a lot of its fame due to Triang bringing out an 00 model of it in the early 60s. That model was upgraded by Hornby and is still available, though now much improved. The Triang chassis was used to motorise several kits, mainly from GEM and Wills.
Brilliant Chris, I've been wanting this one for ages as the B12 is my favourite class and this did not disappoint. Side note; can somebody explain to me why a Q1 had a square boiler
Hi Chris I really enjoy watching slips and sole slips. I was wondering when you make the Sole slips. Could there be one or two more clips of the loco running if it’s a rubber. Like the B12 video here. Keep up the good work :) and thank you making these films
Hey there, I have been watching your videos & they're GREAT!! Any way I was wondering if you're going to do Narrow gauge trains? I would like to know the history of Prince(The Prince) of the Festiniog Railway.
I don't think Chris is a fan of any particular railway. Just look at his top ten list video, only one LNER engine on the whole list, but many BR and LMS locos, alongside a few Southern and Great Western locos. Chris just seems to be a fan of all things steam.
We know that. But the only reason that it's so popular(at least that I can think of) is because of Skarloey123's TTTE OC named Alfred, who has gained such a cult following in the community.
In a world where few LNER engines got the chance to be preserved, we're very lucky this old girl is still around. Beautiful engine.
A lucky engine indeed.
It's 98462 O_o

The B12 truly is a beautiful engine isn't she?
DieselD261 no doubt about that.

She's lovely!
Zakeni In Victor Tanzigs stories, Alfred is a good guy.

I've actually seen that locomotive last Summer and I even went onboard the cab of it, too!
I am envious of you, but in a good way.
Thanks to the shed master at Norwich.
my grandfather worked for the GER on these engines then S69 so i built one in 00 gauge LIVE STEAM look for it here running on youtube
This girl is a sight to behold, I have stood on the footplate a couple of times. Its a truly amazing loco!
These trains reminded me of Alfred the Holden b12

No, it’s Hazel. Alfred’s sister
It’s Stephen, from the British Railways Stories, by the Amman mentioned in this video, a man of all things LNER, Simon A.C. Martin.
Lol

No wonder Simon loves this engine so much, it is really nice. I saw it when I went to North Norfolk earlier this year.
Hazel The kind B12 lives on

Sweet your going to do an episode on the LNER B12s. (currently doing the happy dance)
