There's a lot of mechanics that goes into the science of prevention of injury to the head from gunfire. Stopping the bullet is probably the easiest part, making it wearable is a big problem. The biggest problem is what happens to the head and brain after impact, how do you disperse the energy. For pistol rounds, there is a lot less energy in a pistol round compared to rifle rounds. If the helmet stops a pistol round, you're looking at whiplash and concussion at worst, at best you're ready to continue the fight like nothing happened. With rifle rounds, concussions and whiplash are likely to be the best case scenario if it's stopped, at worst you're looking at a TBI or outright death from cerebral hemorrhaging. Best way to stop the energy after stopping the bullet is more inertia, or in other words more weight. Which makes it harder to wear for longer periods, but also lessons the likelyhood that you'll have your head rattled by a bullet's impact. Heavier also means that you can use stronger materials, and therefore stop larger caliber gunfire. There's a fine balance to make here, which it seems like he's reached, for now, a good balance. But I'd love to see him expand his repertoire and figure out the fine line between strength, weight, and the risks of neck injury and TBI. God I'm a fucking nerd. XD

Airsofting at a young age really does give you an edge in what gear you should use. I spent hours using different plate carriers helmets and holsters and I find the least amount of shit on my body is the best. Handguns no rifles point and shoot, no time in cqb for sight pictures.
I’m not sure the next pain from NVGs comes from balancing the helmet, but instead it’s just the weight itself. They make counterbalances for NVGs. Your neck is going to hurt from the weight regardless. Get a bigger neck I guess.
Shrugs. The point isn't strength to life something heavy. The point is being able to carry small weight for long periods. Keeping your neck bent forward all day will work your traps like wearing a helmet and it will make your neck hurt bad even just with the weight of your skull

Find a block of wood that weighs about as much as your head. Fire the round of your choice into it. That's how hard it moves your head. Decide whether that will snap your neck.
True, but I imagine this will primarily be used in urban environments and most likely through short term use where it's more required. The average ballistic/bump helmet and patrol cap will still be the standard for a while. But in the case of domestic terrorism/counter terrorism this might be very useful especially for peaking corners and not dying instantly to armed gunmen. Like the guy mentioned in the video, SWAT have bought these, and for their specific line of work I can imagine how valuable this type of protective gear can be. The only thing I would change is finding a way to increase visibility for the wearer since those lenses seem to be somewhat small.

I think it could take 556 if he designed it with good padding and more angles for glancing and maybe even have panels blown out to reduce force like a tank idk lol but its cool af though
as far as lrifle goes, based on what I know, in the evvent of a stopped rifle round and armor deformation into the head , the forhead would be probably survivable due to your Frontal sinuses collapsing during impact preserving the brain (Brainsup or a dented skull, neither is good) , the top back and the side of the head, probably not unless it has a good shock absorber underneath because no sinuses there and the skull is not as thick as in the frontal bone , the face might not be bad to armor as well from """an injury standpoint only""" because it is very good at collapsing to protect the brain. However to reduce concussions/ head jerk (brain bouncing) maybe using a collapsible pad as a shock absorber might help reduce injuries- similar to how a motorcycle helmet has foam (EPA foam) that compresses- permanently to coushining the impact- the problem is calculating how hard it has to be to collapse- basicaly the stronger the impact, the harder the foam must resist collapsing to mitigate as much force as possible but then lower intensity impacts will cause some damage. --Basicaly - low density/strenght/ hardness EPA foam (doesnt have to be EPA foam ) means smaller impacts do basicaly nothing, but bigger impacts are barely mitigated, However High hardness/strenght/ density EPA means that bigger impacts wont do as much damage(they will do some), but smaller impacts will also do Some damage
Would it be possible to make a medieval jousting style wrapper plate / bevor specifically for breaching to protect the face that can be discarded later. Or would the sharp angles at the neck and face redirect the bullet in an unsafe direction?
My dad was shot in the head in WWII the bullet rattled around in his helmet he had a metal plate in his head lived to the age of 89 dealt with headaches most of his life
These would really only be useful for domestic law enforcement that are more likely to encounter threats of handgun rounds. If they can make them effective for military level threats it would be awesome.

Race drivers have a cooler of ice water and electric pumps. Neither seem practical.
If you're carrying around a multi pound pump, the water also has to be cooled.
I would like to see him make one like this that can be D.O.T. approved for motorcycle riding and ballistic protection
Those fans look like the same ones used to cool down ESC’s on Remote control cars, they run on 9V batteries as well.
Airsofting at a young age really does give you an edge in what gear you should use. I spent hours using different plate carriers helmets and holsters and I find the least amount of shit on my body is the best. Handguns no rifles point and shoot, no time in cqb for sight pictures.
Master Chief helmet,,, interesting!
Thank you
thanks from Scotland and Russia!!
I’m not sure the next pain from NVGs comes from balancing the helmet, but instead it’s just the weight itself. They make counterbalances for NVGs. Your neck is going to hurt from the weight regardless. Get a bigger neck I guess.
That helmet was made for doomguy.
I wonder are there any exercises that make your neck stronger
Shrugs. The point isn't strength to life something heavy. The point is being able to carry small weight for long periods.
Keeping your neck bent forward all day will work your traps like wearing a helmet and it will make your neck hurt bad even just with the weight of your skull
@@bobjohnson1633 Brother. Your neck will be able to take/handle weight better if it’s built like a tree log over a twig. It will start to ache regardless eventually tho.
I am surprised that no one had referenced these combat helmets to Fallout series.
I have a question. Do they have one for people that have glasses to see
Level III to stop the 556 is good enough! I’ll take 2, please
This is an amazing helmet...have you considered using reactive armor plating the way the M1-Abrams does to increase the ballistic protection? Another thing you might consider is providing a wire frame cage the way the MRAPS has on it to provide fragmentation penetration protection...
I was told by an old sergeant that there's no use in getting level 4 helmet. He said that even if the helmet could stop a rifle round, the sheer kinetic force would snap your spine in half killing you instantly.
I was told by an Army Air Assault veteran in college that the sheer kinetic impact on the shoulder from a high-caliber round would snap your neck.
I know a soldier in Iraq who had an AK round hit his helmet, it went through the first side deflecting and skimmed along the inside of the helmet and out the back neckline. it knocked him down and he got up and kept running. He took three more rounds to his body armor before he got out of the open. Other than being beat up and scraped he had no injuries and was back on duty a week later.
We called him PFC Lucky after that.
Well you guys believe those stories… from random people. But the military doesn’t issue kevlar helmets because they don’t work…
@@TheGmanway it's almost as if soldiers never wore helmets since the bronze age... Oh wait, they did.
Find a block of wood that weighs about as much as your head. Fire the round of your choice into it. That's how hard it moves your head. Decide whether that will snap your neck.
The only bullet-proof helmet I've ever heard of is a tank, a nice big one.
😂😂👍👍👍
Depends on how big the round is...
The good news is, if it does penetrate, you'll likely never know it.
Overpressure is a MF.
Ounces = #'s and #'s = pain. Don't get me wrong. I love it.just can't wait until it is lighter. Love innovation. I hope they keep moving forward.
You won't be saying that when you get shot in the face without this fancy gun ninja mask
That Is Awesome as Hell ! ! Props , That Man Needs Some Kind of Award. 🤔 So Many Valid points.
Good Vid 👍👍
How much would the helmets cost if you used Beskar Metal? How about Rearden Metal?
You could cosplay Shredder with Colion's
WESLEY! hopefully one day soon we can afford to carry your helmets in our store. those things are easily most iconic piece of our time i think. up there with things like the mp5 and scar. people just know what they are from across the room.
If a bullet pierces the helmet it usually skims around in-between the Kevlar and outer Helmut material
Great information on the helmet
Awesome... wonder if the Space Force guys gonna get fitted for theirs soon?? Kewell
Space force isn't a fighting force. I would hate to be the first guy to get into a gun fight in a space ship and die because ANYBODY missed and blew out the hull.
Time to call Halo, "Master Chief" for the upgrade...
That’s next level stuff
Needs a link to a supplier lol
Very cool helmet
Innovation saving lives. Thank you, Sir.
I can’t imagine the excitement of the crowd this upcoming week, I read about a huge announcement dropping Thanksgiving day. I’ll give y’all a hint so I don’t spoil the surprise for a pioneer & leader in men’s swimwear Speedo. It’s a perfect balance of innovation & outside the box thinking. The only thing I can say is 2 words, level 4, bulletproof, crotchless, beach safety.
So now I have to explain why I'm purchasing a tactical mask🤣
Nah u don't and that's the beauty of America
Unless you live in commiefornia
@@MegaBoricuakid I'm married and a 3k mask is a major "Just support my dreams" conversation 🤣🤣
@@TokenBlkTech I love it 😂

I think it could take 556 if he designed it with good padding and more angles for glancing and maybe even have panels blown out to reduce force like a tank idk lol but its cool af though
Hopefully he gets into useing D30 is his plate padding instead of rubber spacers.
Hi. Can he add a solar charging to the ventilation as well as having the battery
Old one like sticking your head in a bell
Getting your bell ring!!
They need lightweight ballistic shields you can fit your muzzle threw
Anti fog fans in paintball masks have been around for at least 20 years
as far as lrifle goes, based on what I know, in the evvent of a stopped rifle round and armor deformation into the head , the forhead would be probably survivable due to your Frontal sinuses collapsing during impact preserving the brain (Brainsup or a dented skull, neither is good) , the top back and the side of the head, probably not unless it has a good shock absorber underneath because no sinuses there and the skull is not as thick as in the frontal bone , the face might not be bad to armor as well from """an injury standpoint only""" because it is very good at collapsing to protect the brain.
First one through the door breaching needs to have a ballistic shield to protect them
One of OPD responding to pulse night club shooting was wearing a PASGT direct blow to front of helmet he lived had huggge welt
IS that why Starwars Storm troopers can't hit Chit? They can't cheek their firearms? was curious about hearing protection and coms while wearing them
Hipfire isn't that hard
My dad was shot in the head in WWII the bullet rattled around in his helmet he had a metal plate in his head lived to the age of 89 dealt with headaches most of his life
I'm definitely buying 😌 partner this with army new scope and were back baby
Imagine if they manage the hard wire the scope to a HUD on the helmet
with the advancement of light weapons we are basically going back to medieval suit of armor
Good content Colion!
These would really only be useful for domestic law enforcement that are more likely to encounter threats of handgun rounds. If they can make them effective for military level threats it would be awesome.
Sooo... cost?
He needs to do some research on pinlock for moto helmets Zero fog.
Coolest thing so far
What happens when you catch a round between panels? Does the frame itself offer the same level of protection?
No, but armor always has gaps. The way you killed a plate armor knight back in the day was tackle him and stab him in the eye socket or arm pit.
@@kerbalairforce8802 this. Armor is ALWAYS a tradeoff between protection and mobility, and personal body armor always has to make more concessions for mobility/vision/ breathing and there's no way to account for those requirements without compromising the protection.
