It was a different dude, she was asking for lord Sakuza and the samurai being lured to Mibu village is called Jinzaemon Kumano. She however thinks that lord Sakuza (whoever that might be) has sent Jinzaemon in his stead.
@SonKunSama neat theory but there's a lot of issues with it. for one, she specifically says that you were sent in his place before mentioning him sitting right over there. not only that, but he's the only one who can here the shamisen (from far away) and she specifically goes to visit him after you beat her. all things considered, i think it's more likely he was just giving the wrong name like some kakarot type shit
Shigekichi also gets points for his armor removal mechanic. Everybody is looking for opportunities to peel off plates with the spear, and then finally you get a good opportunity near the end of the game.
i just encountered him for the 10th time when i found out this. I was slicing jim and heard that wooden noise what the armored ones had...i was like wait a minute....That fight became so much easier, huge posture damage+larger basic damage
The Seven Ashina Spears are great because you feel so cool fighting them. It genuinely feels like a duel against a proper powerhouse of an enemy, especially with their spinning knockback attack

He defs died to mist noble the first time, and was so deeply embarrassed by his performance the only way he felt he could get back was to create a tier list of bosses in the game and put them last so he could finally taste victory against the mist demon.
The seven ashina spears are definitely the highlight of every newgame run for me. They just have so many interesting combo extentions and stylish animations which really sell the power of the seven spears. Not to mention if you're sharp enough to deflect the extentions they just stumble forward like you're the boss punishing them for being greedy.
Glad to see the Ashina Generals high up, they're the enemies that taught me how to deflect better and the Seven Spears taught me how to Mikiri counter better. I'm on my very first Sekiro playthrough and it's been tough admittedly but I'm glad that the mini bosses teach you your fundamentals so well.
On top of a satisfying moveset, I also love that its a simple 1v1 duel. So many of sekiro's good mini bosses are severely held back by unnecessary annoying ganks surrounding them
currently on my first playthrough and one thing i especially liked abt o'rin is her placement, after having spent so much time fighting monkeys and gun-wielding enemies it felt like a breath of fresh air to have such a crisp sword fight again
Fellow Shichimen enjoyer here, another cool thing about them is that they’re an example of the anti-air deathblow being both usable and worthwhile. It’s when they jump away to float and throw some terror balls, feels really cool to get them with it
I enjoy the blazing bulls! I think if you go with the parrying stratergy and just accept the burning (heal now and then or use anti-fire stuff) then it can be a quite satisfying fight. Also the deathblow for the bulls is really nice looking and the two guys who come through the door at the end like "Where's the bull, how the heck did you just kill that thing?!" is great and makes me feel cool as shit for fighting the bull lol.
I agree I like that moment with the two soldiers, and ya I’m sure my ranking of the bulls is a bit lower than the average, but I’ve just never clicked with the deflects

The Blazing Bull fights are absolutely trivial when you realize FromSoft rewards you for taking on the fights with a matador style. Have the Bull rush you, deflect and attack. It’s the easiest way to defeat them
Couple thoughts: - Completely agree with your take on the Shichimen Warriors, those fights are so fun. I especially love that you can use the Anti-air Deathblow technique from Blackfoot on them during their jumping attack, super cinematic way to end the fight (though weirdly you HAVE to have Divine Confetti activated to get the deathblow prompt? Not sure why they made that a thing with no indication for the player) - As someone who generally prefers playing with DEX weapons in the other FromSoft games, I love fighting the Armored Warrior. He truly feels like the embodiment of the pure strength build, and having his demise be gravity is such a unique and hilarious touch. And the story of this boss being foreshadowed way back in Ashina Outskirts with Robert's Firecrackers is sad but great world building. - It's wild how much in a league of her own O'rin of the Water is. I honestly think her fight is a fair bit more difficult than the Corrupted Monk right after her. Pulling off deflect chains on her big combos is so satisfying
After watching this video i realised how many mini bosses are reused In my playthrough i thought there were many minibosses but i just realised that half of them are just the previous ones
Sure, but there are variations in the reused minibosses. All generals have different movesets, Shigekichi has the chest plate, there are two different lone shadows and also one that summons wolfs, the red eyes elite is a lot faster, all encounters also have different enemies standing around them which does make the reused fights a lot more unique. Like the lone shadow duo or the seven spears with general or the different enemies around the drunkards etc.
They are very dependent on the arena. Fighting them in the abandoned dungeon or the guardian ape's burrow is fun, fighting them in Fountainhead palace is not.
TBH I would argue that the headless are actually good, in that they are deliberately designed to feel awkward and weird to fight and that's what makes them scary. After 100+ hours in the game they're the only enemy that I still feel generally uncomfortable and anxious fighting and that's what makes them interesting to me. I think part of this is because the divine confetti requirement gives them a hard limit to how many attempts you get, at least until after you get the tally board or if you decide to farm samurai in the dojo, so it makes the stakes a lot higher compared to everything else which you can retry as many times as you want. Shichimen warriors also have this requirement but they are way easier to deal with so it never really feels like as much of a risk to engage with them. This is also probably why I don't really find underwater headless that interesting, since you don't need divine confetti to hurt them so they're just annoying and awkward without any of the tension.
O'Rin is the best mini-boss; she has crazy sword skills and the untouchable ghost form, which caused more trouble than fighting Owl. Some fans call her "the sword saint of Mibu". Based on the way she hides her sword, she's probably a ninja herself.

me and my friend were fighting with foam spears at a renaissance festival, and he was trying to imitate the ashina spears. he did the spin attack thing they do and made a super powerful swing using his whole body weight's momentum, but it went a little higher than he wanted it to and the attack nailed me on the left side of my face. fortunately he hit me the the flat side of the spear, but that was the day i realized why helmets are important
I actually didn’t realize the shinobi hunter was a mini boss until after I fought him, I just deathblowed him, went to fight the other enemies then was surprised when he attacked me again. I thought he simply got up from the dead at the time.
You probably dont know this but if you bought the anti air deathblow skill from the Blackhat Badger in Old Grave, then when you see the Shichimen Warrior leap into the air, you can also jump at him then perform an Anti-air deathblow without needing to fill his posture bar. But you also need Divine Confetti to pull this off since he's an apparition type enemy. You can also do the anti air deathblow on Okami leader Shizu when she leaps into the air to do the thunderball kick without the Divine confetti. This eliminates the need to r1 spam her
Man, when you made the comparison between O’Rin and Dancer, and questioned everything I’ve ever thought. I hate O’Rin (as of now) but love Dancer to death. Maybe I should rethink this. W list though, very good takes.

Fun fact: The reason you can deflect the snake eyes grab is because it's also treated as a thrust, so you can also mikiri counter it (although the timing is surprising weird).
Yeah man, I love the fck out of these schichimen guys. The first time you encounter them in the distance in that big ass cave is just unforgettable. And the fight itself feels like a legit boss fight too.

The Okami Leader can also be anti-air deathblow killed instantly when the fight starts, which is pretty hilarious to me. I also loved the 7-spears, and O'rin was a good challenge for me! She was probably the miniboss that took me the most time in my first playthrough.
i absolutely adore o'rin, her big combo was very fun to deflect, I didn't really fight her that many times but I remember I started to think of the combo as " 1 2+ 3 4" which is kinda like 4/4 but that would me "1 2ea 4", either way that was kinda when I "got" sekiro
4:42 I’d like to add that I learned you do two health bars of damage by being behind and above an enemy who is unaware because I somehow managed to avoid alerting the ogre after I think 12 deaths.
I think it's kinda cool that it's implied that the armoured warrior isn't from Japan at all. Both his sword and his armour have a medieval European style and it's theorised that he came to Japan from Portugal when they were the first Europeans to "discover" Japan in the 1500's. It could also explain why he takes no damage, since the European armours of the time offered far more protection than the traditional Japanese ones
What I realy like with Seven Ashina Spears is how after deflecting certain attack camera closes up to Sekiro's shoulder, you are kinda locked into this animation and need to perform another deflection or mikiri to yyeeet boss out of balance. It is cool the same way as death blow lincked after deflect and mikiri(if you break posture with this deflect or mikiri)
Shichimen are fun, surprised you didn’t mention the midair death blow. That’s such a cool attack and you get to use it so rarely. Landing the midair death blow to instakill is so satisfying.
I mostly agree with this tierlist but I would place some bosses differently. Mist noble: I would place him a bit higher because parrying him is pretty satisfying imo and I like the meme. Always funny joking about that it was insanely close and almost got hit and that he is such a run breaker. I guess he would have his own category in my list. Okami leader: agreed 16th place Shinobi Hunter Enshin on place 15: some of his mikiris are very sketchy and he is not really fun to me. But its fun to do him one hit with jumping md. Chained Ogre on place 14, sure there the mechanic with the weakness / fear to fire but imo he is not fun to fight and the grab hitbox feels often very off how you also mentioned in the video. Underwater Headless place 13: place didn’t change in particular. Headless on place 12: headless have an interesting moveset and can make fun but usually I ignore them because they dont drop Items I really need in a normal run. And the fact that I would have to learn a special strat to do them no deflect doesn’t help their placement. Blazing Bull on place 11: Bull is always a pain in the ass fighting him but also a challenge for precision when you want to stab him into his head what does tons of dmg compared to the normal slashes, and the fact that you can jumpscare bull2 is cool and is unique to this boss than those below. Long arm Centipede on place 10: I can’t really place him any ware so I leave him here. I always cheese the gunfort one because without md it would be insane pain in the ass fighting him no deflect. The sempo one is pretty useless because you don’t need the bead when you don’t need much health Ashina Elite on place 9: agreed, I think I would place him a bit more down the list but I don’t want to put everything behind bull so I leave him here. Shichimen Warriors on place 8: pretty much run and hit till they teleport to the other end of the arena. The design is cool and they drop usefull stuff, also the mid air deathblow is a unique thing among the minibosses (except okami leader but doesn’t make a difference to her 16th place) Snake Eyes on place 7: I really like the moveset and the lore behind the enemies. Also the weakness to poison makes it pretty rewarding to play with the sabimaru 7 Ashina Spears on place 6 (or 5 idk): not my favorite boss. The moveset is good but I dislike his arenas which make it a bit more difficult to place him higher in the list. When his placement was a bit different I think I would like him more. Drunkards on place 5 (or 6 idk): agreed, they are really fun to fight but I dislike his foot. It gets me every time. Ashina Generals on place 4: agreed, their moves can be pretty nice and the placement is good. They are fun to fight and always a good challenge because if you don’t concentrate you will lose. I especially like to 90* dead angle them to death. It works on the first and second the best hehe Armored Warrior on place 3: agreed. Cant say much more, lore great, moveset great, gimmick great. Only his mikiri is a but sketchy sometimes because it doesn’t work when you stand too close to him. Lone Shadows place 2: my favorite one is the one with the dogs in hirata2. Always a pleasure to fight. You can’t relax because if you do he calls for his doggies. I really like their design, moveset and mechanics (for example the poisoned dagger or the summond doggies) Place one is obviously O’Rin: learning how to fight her no deflect was one of the most fun learnings in sekiro. And we all know why she is the best miniboss, i don’t have to say more. Conclusion: I changed way more than I originally thought. It was as always very fun to make my own thoughts to it. I’m looking forward to the next tierlist on this channel I can give my mustard to. Have a great day and thanks for reading.
I miss the old Anti-Terror - mislabeled as Fearless Powder in the 1.00V in the US. Which gave you Auto cure of the status and made you immune to it for about 3 secs before the bar started to fill up on account of a code error which gave you 65%+ Res instead of the planed 45%. Same thing happened to the Contact Poison pill. Made fighting Headless Ape and Headless Swordmens far more fair and fun.
Im not sure if this is true for other minibosses, i dont think it is but the thing i like about Orin is that she has a slightly different combo in her 2nd phase where she does 3 spinning attacks and then 2 or 1 very quick attack before sweeping whereas in the first phase its 2 spin attacks then suddenly 2 quick attacks or 1 before sweeping. Keeps u on ur toes.
I looooooove the seven ashina spears, and while i can't say for sure which one i like more between orin or them, i can proudly say that on average per game i get more enjoyment from the ashina spears given that there are just multiple copies of them when there is only 1 orin lololol. they just feel so strong but fair, they don't have weird tricks like poison or fire, they just try their damn hardest to beat you and not allow you get off scott free. I also like the way they "counter" mikiri with the extra attacks which i believe is the only spear user to ever do that.
Small tidbits: You don't even need divine confettit for the underwater headless! Try it once and yourself some resources. Shichimen warrior: Once you unlock the Anit-air deathblow ability (bought from black hat or from offering box at the temple in late game) when they jump in the air, you just need to jump at them to perform a deathblow, regardless of what their health or posture damage is. You can also attack the terror balls to make them disappear.
The thing I hate about Snake Eyes and the Drunkards is how for some of their swings, their arms twitch during the wind-up, but the actual hit is delayed. It's like the precursor to Elden Ring delayed attacks.
Alternate shichimen strat: divine confetti, akos sugar, run up to them, spam r1 till they teleport, buff again if necessary, sprint to the bosses new location, run to the side if they do terror beam or whatever, spam r1, get best item in the game (or lapiz)
I remember my first encounter with a lone shadow, i did not have any heal left but i had my whole hp, then i talked to the guy 2 times and the fight started, my controller unplugged so i revived myself and fought with so much focus i did not lose amy of my hp
What a shocker that the only two unique mini-bosses are in the top 3. IMO boss reuse hurts so many Fromsoft games and it’s especially bad in Sekiro, so it’s no surprise the two most unique enemies have such a memorable impact
The ogre is essentially margit. Theyre placed to force players to explore in hopes of finding hirata estate. As well as then learning that its weak to fire and show that bosses have weaknesses. Such as lady butterfly with shurikens as an example or gynobo with firecrackers

I’ll never forget playing this game for the first time. It was my first FromSoft game I had ever played and I actually thought I was downloading a different game. Started it up and immediately was like, WTF am I playing. It’s so funny to me the different bosses we all struggle with. Being my first by FromSoft, I of course probably struggled with more than most people. But I will never forget how mad I was that I beat Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa my actual first try and would to immediately spend hours struggling against the Blazing Bull. It’s pretty crazy how FromSoft developers know all the different playstyles out there and they’re going to design a boss for everyone. Some bosses you’re going to breeze over while others struggle for hours and vice versa. That’s the magic of SoulsBourne games
first time i did chained ogre i was stressing cause i knew he was weak to fire but i hadnt actually gotten any prosthetic tool so i was just wondering how tf i would get fire next to him😭
I got destroyed by the shinobi hunter like 30 or 40 times before I beat him on my first playthrough. He was the 3rd hardest i struggled with for some reason. Right behind lady butterfly I was stuck on her for a few hours and issin(Who I still have not beaten but am replaying now and am going to).
The centipedes were some of my favorites just because they made me laugh at them. I love their weird designs and attacks that made me just have to sit there and practice deflects without trying to fight back.
Seven Spears will always be my #1, I downloaded a miniboss reflections mod just so I could fight these guys over and over again, it's so satisfying deflecting their heavy ass attacks
I think Emma counts as a mini boss since there isn't a memory tied to her, but I know some people count her as the first phase of a three phase fight, or maybe bc it says she had a shinobi execution
Armored warrior is hilarious in English, the way he yells ROBERRRT made me laugh so hard because of how out of place it was my first playthrough. Of course now knowing the lore he makes me sad
The interesting thing about the underwater headless is that you don't actually need to use divine confetti to damage it, I found that out accidentally 😅

You know when you say matador style, it's implied you dodge out of the way. I don't remember bullfights where the matador is parry spamming the bull.

They are very dependent on the arena. Fighting them in the abandoned dungeon or the guardian ape's burrow is fun, fighting them in Fountainhead palace is not.
I just love deathblowing them in air. And somehow i didn't know you can parry both the big balls and the laser even though i have done 6 playthroughs!

TBH I would argue that the headless are actually good, in that they are deliberately designed to feel awkward and weird to fight and that's what makes them scary. After 100+ hours in the game they're the only enemy that I still feel generally uncomfortable and anxious fighting and that's what makes them interesting to me. I think part of this is because the divine confetti requirement gives them a hard limit to how many attempts you get, at least until after you get the tally board or if you decide to farm samurai in the dojo, so it makes the stakes a lot higher compared to everything else which you can retry as many times as you want. Shichimen warriors also have this requirement but they are way easier to deal with so it never really feels like as much of a risk to engage with them. This is also probably why I don't really find underwater headless that interesting, since you don't need divine confetti to hurt them so they're just annoying and awkward without any of the tension.

O'Rin is the best mini-boss; she has crazy sword skills and the untouchable ghost form, which caused more trouble than fighting Owl. Some fans call her "the sword saint of Mibu". Based on the way she hides her sword, she's probably a ninja herself.
If you do the Shura route, she's also good practice for Emma.

me and my friend were fighting with foam spears at a renaissance festival, and he was trying to imitate the ashina spears. he did the spin attack thing they do and made a super powerful swing using his whole body weight's momentum, but it went a little higher than he wanted it to and the attack nailed me on the left side of my face. fortunately he hit me the the flat side of the spear, but that was the day i realized why helmets are important

I actually didn’t realize the shinobi hunter was a mini boss until after I fought him, I just deathblowed him, went to fight the other enemies then was surprised when he attacked me again. I thought he simply got up from the dead at the time.

You probably dont know this but if you bought the anti air deathblow skill from the Blackhat Badger in Old Grave, then when you see the Shichimen Warrior leap into the air, you can also jump at him then perform an Anti-air deathblow without needing to fill his posture bar. But you also need Divine Confetti to pull this off since he's an apparition type enemy.
You can also do the anti air deathblow on Okami leader Shizu when she leaps into the air to do the thunderball kick without the Divine confetti. This eliminates the need to r1 spam her

the chained ogre was the first roadblock in the game that made me unlearn all the dark souls playstyle to actually progress, it was fun.
ayyyy my o’rin tattoo was justified. I was convinced no one remembered her but she was easily my favourite mini boss across a LOT of games

Fun fact: The reason you can deflect the snake eyes grab is because it's also treated as a thrust, so you can also mikiri counter it (although the timing is surprising weird).
Yeah man, I love the fck out of these schichimen guys. The first time you encounter them in the distance in that big ass cave is just unforgettable. And the fight itself feels like a legit boss fight too.

The Okami Leader can also be anti-air deathblow killed instantly when the fight starts, which is pretty hilarious to me. I also loved the 7-spears, and O'rin was a good challenge for me! She was probably the miniboss that took me the most time in my first playthrough.

i absolutely adore o'rin, her big combo was very fun to deflect, I didn't really fight her that many times but I remember I started to think of the combo as " 1 2+ 3 4" which is kinda like 4/4 but that would me "1 2ea 4", either way that was kinda when I "got" sekiro

I think it's kinda cool that it's implied that the armoured warrior isn't from Japan at all. Both his sword and his armour have a medieval European style and it's theorised that he came to Japan from Portugal when they were the first Europeans to "discover" Japan in the 1500's. It could also explain why he takes no damage, since the European armours of the time offered far more protection than the traditional Japanese ones
What I realy like with Seven Ashina Spears is how after deflecting certain attack camera closes up to Sekiro's shoulder, you are kinda locked into this animation and need to perform another deflection or mikiri to yyeeet boss out of balance. It is cool the same way as death blow lincked after deflect and mikiri(if you break posture with this deflect or mikiri)
Shichimen are fun, surprised you didn’t mention the midair death blow. That’s such a cool attack and you get to use it so rarely. Landing the midair death blow to instakill is so satisfying.
My favorite part about the armored warrior is that if you rush him at the very start you can kill him without needing a deathblow.
I mostly agree with this tierlist but I would place some bosses differently.
Mist noble: I would place him a bit higher because parrying him is pretty satisfying imo and I like the meme. Always funny joking about that it was insanely close and almost got hit and that he is such a run breaker. I guess he would have his own category in my list.
Okami leader: agreed 16th place
Shinobi Hunter Enshin on place 15: some of his mikiris are very sketchy and he is not really fun to me. But its fun to do him one hit with jumping md.
Chained Ogre on place 14, sure there the mechanic with the weakness / fear to fire but imo he is not fun to fight and the grab hitbox feels often very off how you also mentioned in the video.
Underwater Headless place 13: place didn’t change in particular.
Headless on place 12: headless have an interesting moveset and can make fun but usually I ignore them because they dont drop Items I really need in a normal run. And the fact that I would have to learn a special strat to do them no deflect doesn’t help their placement.
Blazing Bull on place 11: Bull is always a pain in the ass fighting him but also a challenge for precision when you want to stab him into his head what does tons of dmg compared to the normal slashes, and the fact that you can jumpscare bull2 is cool and is unique to this boss than those below.
Long arm Centipede on place 10: I can’t really place him any ware so I leave him here. I always cheese the gunfort one because without md it would be insane pain in the ass fighting him no deflect. The sempo one is pretty useless because you don’t need the bead when you don’t need much health
Ashina Elite on place 9: agreed, I think I would place him a bit more down the list but I don’t want to put everything behind bull so I leave him here.
Shichimen Warriors on place 8: pretty much run and hit till they teleport to the other end of the arena. The design is cool and they drop usefull stuff, also the mid air deathblow is a unique thing among the minibosses (except okami leader but doesn’t make a difference to her 16th place)
Snake Eyes on place 7: I really like the moveset and the lore behind the enemies. Also the weakness to poison makes it pretty rewarding to play with the sabimaru
7 Ashina Spears on place 6 (or 5 idk): not my favorite boss. The moveset is good but I dislike his arenas which make it a bit more difficult to place him higher in the list. When his placement was a bit different I think I would like him more.
Drunkards on place 5 (or 6 idk): agreed, they are really fun to fight but I dislike his foot. It gets me every time.
Ashina Generals on place 4: agreed, their moves can be pretty nice and the placement is good. They are fun to fight and always a good challenge because if you don’t concentrate you will lose. I especially like to 90* dead angle them to death. It works on the first and second the best hehe
Armored Warrior on place 3: agreed. Cant say much more, lore great, moveset great, gimmick great. Only his mikiri is a but sketchy sometimes because it doesn’t work when you stand too close to him.
Lone Shadows place 2: my favorite one is the one with the dogs in hirata2. Always a pleasure to fight. You can’t relax because if you do he calls for his doggies. I really like their design, moveset and mechanics (for example the poisoned dagger or the summond doggies)
Place one is obviously O’Rin: learning how to fight her no deflect was one of the most fun learnings in sekiro. And we all know why she is the best miniboss, i don’t have to say more.
Conclusion: I changed way more than I originally thought. It was as always very fun to make my own thoughts to it. I’m looking forward to the next tierlist on this channel I can give my mustard to.

You forgot to point out that you can do the mid-air deathblow to those shichimen warriors while they are jumping to instantly 1 hit their healthbar
I miss the old Anti-Terror - mislabeled as Fearless Powder in the 1.00V in the US. Which gave you Auto cure of the status and made you immune to it for about 3 secs before the bar started to fill up on account of a code error which gave you 65%+ Res instead of the planed 45%. Same thing happened to the Contact Poison pill. Made fighting Headless Ape and Headless Swordmens far more fair and fun.

Im not sure if this is true for other minibosses, i dont think it is but the thing i like about Orin is that she has a slightly different combo in her 2nd phase where she does 3 spinning attacks and then 2 or 1 very quick attack before sweeping whereas in the first phase its 2 spin attacks then suddenly 2 quick attacks or 1 before sweeping. Keeps u on ur toes.
I was hoping O'Rin would be number 1, it is such an amazing fight
I looooooove the seven ashina spears, and while i can't say for sure which one i like more between orin or them, i can proudly say that on average per game i get more enjoyment from the ashina spears given that there are just multiple copies of them when there is only 1 orin lololol. they just feel so strong but fair, they don't have weird tricks like poison or fire, they just try their damn hardest to beat you and not allow you get off scott free. I also like the way they "counter" mikiri with the extra attacks which i believe is the only spear user to ever do that.
Small tidbits: You don't even need divine confettit for the underwater headless! Try it once and yourself some resources.
Shichimen warrior: Once you unlock the Anit-air deathblow ability (bought from black hat or from offering box at the temple in late game) when they jump in the air, you just need to jump at them to perform a deathblow, regardless of what their health or posture damage is. You can also attack the terror balls to make them disappear.

The thing I hate about Snake Eyes and the Drunkards is how for some of their swings, their arms twitch during the wind-up, but the actual hit is delayed. It's like the precursor to Elden Ring delayed attacks.
Alternate shichimen strat: divine confetti, akos sugar, run up to them, spam r1 till they teleport, buff again if necessary, sprint to the bosses new location, run to the side if they do terror beam or whatever, spam r1, get best item in the game (or lapiz)

I remember my first encounter with a lone shadow, i did not have any heal left but i had my whole hp, then i talked to the guy 2 times and the fight started, my controller unplugged so i revived myself and fought with so much focus i did not lose amy of my hp

What a shocker that the only two unique mini-bosses are in the top 3. IMO boss reuse hurts so many Fromsoft games and it’s especially bad in Sekiro, so it’s no surprise the two most unique enemies have such a memorable impact
The ogre is essentially margit. Theyre placed to force players to explore in hopes of finding hirata estate. As well as then learning that its weak to fire and show that bosses have weaknesses. Such as lady butterfly with shurikens as an example or gynobo with firecrackers

I’ll never forget playing this game for the first time. It was my first FromSoft game I had ever played and I actually thought I was downloading a different game. Started it up and immediately was like, WTF am I playing. It’s so funny to me the different bosses we all struggle with. Being my first by FromSoft, I of course probably struggled with more than most people. But I will never forget how mad I was that I beat Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa my actual first try and would to immediately spend hours struggling against the Blazing Bull. It’s pretty crazy how FromSoft developers know all the different playstyles out there and they’re going to design a boss for everyone. Some bosses you’re going to breeze over while others struggle for hours and vice versa. That’s the magic of SoulsBourne games

the shichimens warriors become a lot more trivial with the anti air counter attack which gives you a free deathblow every time he's in the air
first time i did chained ogre i was stressing cause i knew he was weak to fire but i hadnt actually gotten any prosthetic tool so i was just wondering how tf i would get fire next to him😭
I got destroyed by the shinobi hunter like 30 or 40 times before I beat him on my first playthrough. He was the 3rd hardest i struggled with for some reason. Right behind lady butterfly I was stuck on her for a few hours and issin(Who I still have not beaten but am replaying now and am going to).

The centipedes were some of my favorites just because they made me laugh at them. I love their weird designs and attacks that made me just have to sit there and practice deflects without trying to fight back.

Seven Spears will always be my #1, I downloaded a miniboss reflections mod just so I could fight these guys over and over again, it's so satisfying deflecting their heavy ass attacks
I think Emma counts as a mini boss since there isn't a memory tied to her, but I know some people count her as the first phase of a three phase fight, or maybe bc it says she had a shinobi execution
