I captured the fusion cube when it appeared, I already had iwo jima ships with my main fleet. Couldn't do anything with it because no enemies were left :/
Sovereign Cheat Shield FTW!! To be honest I have tried fighting the Fusion Cube with non-Sovvy forces becasue that Reflector is way over-powered for ship -> ship fights but that didn't end well, best to go with what works :)
WTF?! I BUILD A WALL OF STARBASES THAT'RE EASILY CURBSTOPPED BY THAT FUSION CUBE, AND HE JUST SNAPS HIS FINGERS AND HIS SOVEREIGNS DEFEAT IT JUST LIKE THAT?! WHAT THE FU-*boom*
Wouldn't it make more sense to destroy that transwarp gate? Borg don't construct these things somewhere way out where they can't defend it. Wherever this leads to, you're guaranteed to end up close to a borg stronghold or worse.
Yeah, but then the game designers wouldn't have had anything else to do. The Federation sending a good chunk of ships into the Delta Quadrant is part of why the Klingon campaign happens. Looking back, I think that the game would have been better off having the Borg playable first, as part of a standard straight up invasion-type plot (formulaic as it may have been).
IIRC, the galaxy class is NOT a battleship in the lore, it was a general purpose ship that was merely the best battle ship they had. the Soverin was the responce to how well the defiant (the federation's first custom warship) did, and to the wars with the dominon and borg showing a need for more powerful ships. just thought i would point that out.
Fusion Cubes are murderous against hard targets. The HP and Shield of 8 Cubes, but more importantly, all the weapons systems of 8 Cubes firing on one target or a mess of targets. Very difficult for even a Starbase to handle that. Corbomite means half of that raw firepower is bouncing back.
Am I the only one who've noticed that the random Miranda class in the first has survived. That captain deserves a promotion.(At the rate the Feds are going , I think anyone with a small ship should have a medal.)
Fun Fact: It`s possible to finish this mission with just one ship :D If u are really fast, u can finish it in 52 seconds :D It takes out all the fun out this awesome map.
Sure, i edited the .ODF files to do it, but I miss being able to commandeer a Borg construction ship, then work my way up to building a fleet of Tactical Fusion Cubes (while cannibalizing my initial ships/fleet for raw material), then decimating the enemy. Though I still have this game, I really wish there was a Star Trek Armada 3... have it based in both JJ Abrams' universe (2009-present) and the "prime" universe (1966-2005) HAH! showmethemoney (50x) O_O
looks to me like you need to get the weapons and engine upgrades with some shield upgrades then just make as many intrepid ships as possible then just keep sending them in.
"In Star Trek Online, most people want to go for a Sovereign Class Ship". Not quite true. I liked the Idea of a pure Torpedo setup like the Steamrunner Class that much, that i wanted to invent something like it in STO as well. With time, and a LOT of playtesting, i found the Armitage heavy Escort Carrier to be the perfect Ship for that purpose, and i still love my Torpedoboat without energyweaponry to the Day :D
+Beamy2000 This WAS recording 4 years ago :) The meta in STO back then was pretty much "If you're Federation, you go one of the Fleet Cruisers with 4 Tactical Consoles (i.e. Excelsior or Sovereign). The meta's obviously moved on in that time and right now there are a number of builds and all the T6 ships, so yes the Sovvy is a little out of date until the T6 one comes
I´m aware of my "Necropost" :D And i meant back in that time. I´ve built that ship, when the Armitage hit the Store. Right now, even my old "Vanilla-nont6-Armitage" still holds up. And yes, back in the days it was "cruiser or escort". Thats why i decided to bring up something new^^
"For the first time in the war against the Borg, the Federation is launching an offensive action" - yeah, did they completely forget about the last mission of the first game or something?
I am going to disagree there about the sovereign class advance deep space cruiser being the successor ship class to the Galaxy class. two distinct class with nothing in common as successor with regenerating shields puts shame to the Galaxy though a Galaxy class is meant as a tank ship and take so much punishment and dish out punishment with a high shield frequency.
Hey Boomer,I've never been to the UK, but based on watching lots of BBC stuff I have made it a bit of a hobby to try and guess where someone in the UK is based on their accent. I am by no means an 'Enry 'Iggins. But it is a fun hobby. That said I have tried to guess where in the UK you might be. My top two guesses are Liverpool and Yorkshire. Am I even close to warm?
+closeharlan I'm Northern so sort of warm :) I'm actually from Cheshire and my accent is a mixture of my dad who's from North Manchester and my mum who's from Knutsford (Cheshire)
4:47 to 4:52; ha ha ha! I can just imagine you putting Picard in a crib or corner and telling him what you just said. :)
"That's completely unacceptable, only I'm allowed infinite dilithium moons."
Damn right!
This is still one of my favorite lets play serries.
Fusion Tactical Cube, first time I saw one in a PVP I knew the match had gone tits up.
The Borg discovered the substance super glue. Awesome. lol
I remember playing this though for the first time. I captured that fusion cube only to discover there was nothing left to fight with it!
How tf did you capture a fusion cube :0? I mean the crew drop like flies under heavy fire but still it's complement is gigantic
Very clever borg but not enough fire! Fuusion cube : blows up like a star
Still have this game on a Win xp system . !!!
I captured the fusion cube when it appeared, I already had iwo jima ships with my main fleet.
Couldn't do anything with it because no enemies were left :/
***** Mr Tuvok, start scanning the system for planets suitable for mining the most important resource there is: coffee.
29.00 minutes the borg has discoverd super glue and stuck 8 cubes together to make the fusion cube , lmao with that hahhaa :)
The Fusion Cube freaked me out the first time I saw it.
If capturing it was an option, I would have sent boarding parties to capture it.
Frank G
Dear God, THEY HAVE MASTERED SUPER GUEL!!!!!!!
"The Borg have here by discovered super glue and have stuck 8 cubes together" Ahh so the borg have been watching Mythbusters
Sovereign Cheat Shield FTW!!
To be honest I have tried fighting the Fusion Cube with non-Sovvy forces becasue that Reflector is way over-powered for ship -> ship fights but that didn't end well, best to go with what works :)
I saw a Mod for Star Trek Armada 3, but I dunno if it's any good. I wish they'd do a proper remake of this game, it was the best.
Well at least they didn't send a Tactical Fusion Cube (aka 8 Tactical Cubes welded together) after you.
WTF?! I BUILD A WALL OF STARBASES THAT'RE EASILY CURBSTOPPED BY THAT FUSION CUBE, AND HE JUST SNAPS HIS FINGERS AND HIS SOVEREIGNS DEFEAT IT JUST LIKE THAT?!

Q: oh my jean luc, has the federation council lost it's mind, even I think this is stupid.
23:00, I'll take the Galaxy, really. :D

how do you do that?
I captured the fusion cube just for laughs
29:15 O_o well. We'er boned.(If only super glue was so effective with other stuff)
Sure, i edited the .ODF files to do it, but I miss being able to commandeer a Borg construction ship, then work my way up to building a fleet of Tactical Fusion Cubes (while cannibalizing my initial ships/fleet for raw material), then decimating the enemy.

If you could build Newton class vessels in the hypothetical game I'd so buy it.
and then there is the Borg tactical fusion cube
2:35, me and my big mouth!!

+ytmndman Missing a 'current'. Remember this is six months after that mess.
More like almost a year, if you go by stardates.
'That mess'=Armada 1.
What happened to the sovereign class ships? They're completely nerfed in this game compare to the first one and galaxy class ships are stronger.
Dear Captain Picard, it is "nebulae not nebulas."

+Boomer2k6 Yeah, looks like not too far from Liverpool. Thanks for indulging my curiosity. :)
+closeharlan Never confuse someone from Manchester with someone from Yorkshire or Liverpool though irl :)
Wars have been started over less :D
+Boomer2k6 LOLI will do my utmost to remember that. :)
....Also, how much internal confict has there been in the UK since 1688?
Star Trek Armada 2 - Mission 5- THE WORST IDEA, IN THE LONG SAD HISTORY OF BAD IDEAS, seriously, this is a horrible idea.
Sigh well this is the worst idea, in the Long sad history of bad ideas(Dr Ian Malcolm)
Your voice is wonderfully cynical especially when berating starfleet subordanates :)
