Such a wonderful video. Thank you for great facts and locations without random shaky shots while walking.
There is also the Mystic Magic Shop, the mountain top mini golf, Cool River tours where you can float down the Chattahoochee and a small water park. The cabins that Overlook the city provide breathtaking views and easy access to Town Center. The fudge shop and the candy kitchen are both amazing and of course the best part of all ... The people.
    I love Helen❤💜💚💙

This is one of my favorite little mountain towns to visit. You missed a lot of great things about Helen but you did a great job. One of my favorite places to camp St Andrews Cove it's tucked away down in between two mountains. The sun does not reach down into the valley until about 10 am. Beautiful primitive camping with an ice cold stream running down the middle of it. Also Betty store it's an old finishing AGE grocery store. They have a live beehive cutaway you can look into from inside the store. Incredible thick cuts of all types of meat in their Deli. Antique Coke machines and coolers that actually work. That's where that's where they keep the beverages that you purchase. They sell old fashioned marbles in antique bins by the pound. And a Charming bookstore. Really really cool store. Also if you're going there you need to check out the Old Sautee Country Store. The original store has been preserved with a really nice gift shop added to the back of it. Not to mention that incredibly beautiful old Baptist Church on the left just after you turn towards Sautee Georgia. And then there's the one thing you have to do in the summer time which is tube the hooch. I have refreshing inner tube ride down the Chattahoochee cannot be beat.

I have a cabin near Helen and know the area well. 15 years ago it was a great place for adults to relax and enjoy the area and it was a little like a Bavarian town. You could find authentic German clocks, Tapestries, beer steins, etc. in the shops and the streets were not crowded. If you were a little tipsy, the police would take you back to your hotel but now they take you to their jail and DUI checkpoints are everywhere. The town has turned into a mass of cheap T-shirt and trinket shops, overpriced poor quality food and families with wayward children. The road (only one main road) is bumper to bumper and the sidewalks are packed. Keep valuables close by because Helen is the #1 city for crime in Georgia. For those of us that knew what it once was, it is a shame to see what it has become.

It also means property value skyrockets and private homes turn into airb&bs and locals -- most of them working or lower middle class people -- can't afford to pay their homeowners taxes and have to leave, as my family did.

We visited this year mid November and stayed at The Helendorf inn on the River so amazing and worth it. The hotel was only $89 per night very reasonable and cozy, clean, comfy and to hear the river flowing out your back door made this Hotel so unique. We also added a lock to the bridge like so many other people have as a keepsake & remembrance that we were here in 2020!! Also you cannot visit Helen without taking a ride or two on the new Mountain coaster built last year 2019. The best roller-coaster I have been on and Not so scarry as ibam afraid of heights and fast speed so if that is you than this is the Roller coaster for you!! I will be bringing my two boys next year 11 & 7 yo and they can handle it so yes so fun and a must do before leaving this lovely little town.

If you still haven’t gone I just went with my parents/grandparents, and while I didn’t visit all the places he named I did see some of the ones he didn’t mention. The Windmill Dutch Imports place in the White horse square has a lot of authentic dutch candy/chocolate (and the only Dutch/European person I saw working there the whole time I was there). They also have tubing which was fun, If you spend $5 on the stick you get to keep it. Lastly Id recommend getting an Air n b close to the town if you are staying there. We stayed in a hotel but seeing all the houses I can imagine it would be a funner experience.

Then, in Cleveland there is a little burger place called Smiths Soda shop, it is the GREATEST BURGERS, HOTDOGS and Milkshakes on the planet. Also, troll tavern is really good food too. Enjoy! BTW every will tell you their Rueben is the best, but Cafe International has a secret to how they cook it, and it makes ALL the difference in the world!

Mostly, you might have a few issues with some of the stores along mainstreet as they have 1 or more steps to get in, but most are street level. Other then that I'm not 100% sure on the Troll Tavern, there is a walking trail that takes you under the bridge which would certainly be accessible and let you sit outside. I'm not sure about the inside area as I only remember the stairs going into the interior, I could be wrong though. Finally with the Old Heidlberg Schnitzelhaus the main entrance is up a set of stairs but I believe they have a ramp entrance around the back of the building, a little inconvenient but it is there. Everything else should be easily accessible with either available ramps or just being on street level.
