Can't seem to be able to visualize, but some pictures come in your head by themselves?
Draw on those pictures! Like if your favorite movie star comes to mind - imagine a dot on his nose. Start simple.
What also brought me stronger "visualisation muscles" is simply trying to imagine numbers, like 1, 2, 3, etc.
Then you can draw those numbers on things that come to mind easily / automatically (like that abovementioned movie star) etc.

This reminds me of the rumored Vietnam War Veteran who visualized 18 holes at his favorite golf course back at home while in a pow camp. Supposedly got a hole in one on his first game back. Couldn't tell you where I heard that story though.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
🧠 Effective mental training and visualization, supported by a systematic review, requires brief, simple, and repeated visualizations.
⚙️ The recommended range for repetitions in a training session is between 50 and 75, emphasizing the importance of the brief and simple nature of visualizations.
🔄 Rest periods between each repeat, typically around 15 seconds, contribute to effective mental training and should align with the duration of the imagined motor sequence.
🎯 Successful real-world performance of a motor task is crucial before mental training and visualization significantly enhance its accuracy or frequency.
🗣️ For cognitive tasks like language learning, selecting a segment lasting 5 to 15 seconds, where repetition is feasible, is vital for effective mental training and visualization.
📅 Performing mental training and visualization sessions 3 to 5 times per week is considered most effective, with 50 to 75 repetitions per session.
🔄 Once a skill is consolidated in real-world performance, ongoing mental training and visualization are not necessary to maintain that skill.
🌐 Mental training and visualization are most effective for improving skills already demonstrated in the real world, emphasizing the need for initial proficiency before mental practice.

So it would be 50-75 of the sets of (3), or is it a total of 50 to 75 individual reps which would be far fewer total sets?

What do you think about combining this with the sound based techniques for Targeted Mental Reactivation that you discussed with Dr. Walker in the dreams episode of your sleep series? In other words, playing a certain song when doing the visualization techniques, playing that song while sleeping, then playing the song right before or during the task you are trying to learn?

I caution consumers: one needs must calculate the volume of EPA in one's given supplement of fish/krill oil...and this proportion varies dramatically from one product to another/different Omega-3 products from the same company.
      It's a consumer's nightmare.
I personally calculate the number of capsules needed per day to amass the daily EPA dose as recommended by Dr. Huberman: 1000mg ~ 2000mg (1 ~ 2g) of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) DAILY.
If money is an issue, the most economical capsules for a accumulative dose of EPA might have as little as 250mg EPA, or as much as 500mg~600mg EPA per gelcap.
QUALITY is important, certainly, but I can not afford to buy certain brands as the price for the three adults in my family is exorbitant/far beyond our means.
Another important detail a guest pointed out is that one's fish oil SHOULD BE REFRIGERATED, as the quality of the oil more rapidly degrades at room temperature.
Since learning this datum, I check the date on my fish oil when buying in person to assure I avoid old/rancid stock, and I habitually decant pills from multiple bottles into a single labeled glass container which I place on the refrigerator door for ease of access.
There is so much wasted AIR volume in typical containers and I need to minimize the area of the EPA.
I typically buy large quantities of the capsules of the best quality EPA I can afford (those vetted by independent laboratories) with the HIGHEST proportion of EPA, as the amount of RESEARCH I do each time I buy is...prodigious.
Incidentally, THOSE pills popping up when I Google "high EPA" fish oil are not necessarily as high (per pill/daily dose of EPA) as others which DO NOT advertise as being "High EPA", so again, buyer beware.
Another tip: there is further "misleading labeling" in that fish oil companies have taken to printing IN LARGE TYPE "A daily dose contains X amount of EPA"...when much smaller print informs the consumer that a "daily dose" is not one but TWO (or in some cases FOUR) capsules ~ which effectively DOUBLES (or quadruples) the cost of that particular supplement.
I trust this is accurate as to the Uber Huberman's LATEST information re the amounts of EPA...and I caution consumers to be rigorous in one's research as it's frustrating and a tad off-putting if one does not do one's due dilligence with unregulated supplements.
When I first began taking fish oil PRIOR to discovering Dr Huberman's podcast, I had been ignorant that the amount of EPA was the determining factor, and I had blithely purchased capsules which touted ~ IN LARGE PRINT ~ both "1000mg FISH OIL" and the line "RECOMMENDED DOSE ONE PILL PER DAY".
This was a rather costly error as, whereas I was taking the "recommended daily dose" of 1 pill per day prior to learning ACCURATE INFORMATION via an early Huberman podcast...
upon learning I must calculate the EPA...I was surprised to discover (upon whipping out my handy jewellers loupe), and locating the teeny tiny print which informed me that each capsule had but 100mg EPA (and 900mg DHA)!
I had to consume TEN such pills a day to reach the UBER HUBERMAN scientifically recommended daily dose of 1000mg EPA.
My mistake revealed these pills (which were NOT INEXPENSIVE, as I had sought a QUALITY brand) were, in effect, ten times as expensive as I had thought.
      I trust this helps.

As much of a shameless science fanboy as I am, there's no denying the rancid hubris behind the modern perspective that every significat advancement we've made in human history is relegated to the past 200 years. There's so much untapped wisdom in ancient cultures.
