I don't think civ is a game where anyone that isn't a complete asshole would actually be annoyed by someone new misplaying. Not using one of three energy in Slay the spire is quite silly but missing one notification or not knowing what does what exactly in a game as complex as this is pretty much a given the first couple of games you play.
Ok, so to answer a couple of questions Promoting a unit uses all their remaining movement allowance. A settler cannot settle within 3 tiles of another city (displayed as red hexes when selecting a settler). A city can work any tile within a radius of 3, so while not necessarily important, if you settle 6 tiles away, you won't get any overlap. Harvesting a resource just means you can get a builder to permanently remove it for a short term increase of the resource. Other civilizations will have agendas which will determine if they like you or not, for example Sweden are bibliophiles, so they probably like civs who likes books or have great works of writing. Spearman are considered Anti Cavalry units, so your warriors perform better than them in melee. If you're not familiar with the Era system from rise and fall, certain events will give era score. If you don't pass a certain threshold (seen under the end turn globe) by the time you enter a new Tech era, you will enter a dark age. If you pass this threshold, you'll have another threshold which will put you into a golden age. Dark ages/golden ages will give you negatives and positives for the following Tech Era. In the end this is all fruitless as eggy doesn't read comments but in the event he comes here looking for help. This is something.
One thing about the 6 tiles away: It is absolutely not neccesary. In the early phases, border growth isn't that quick so it is still a good idea to settle closer to other cities when the starting position is better. Cities need strong starting positions or they are basically useless for a lot of turns. This becomes more important in the later game, but then you usually have enough districts and improvemen upgrades. Also the total number of workable tiles is pretty much never used, even in a 30 pop city you have like a third of them in districts and buildings
I didn't intend for it to come off as nessecary, I rarely even end up paying attention to it myself. I just figured someone would call me out if I didn't bring up 6 tiles apart being efficient coverage. With the city being able to work everything within 3 tiles. I just meant it had the ability to work any tile within a radius of 3. Not all at once
@@Drakefance5 Oh no worries I agree with your comment. but I know the egg and should he read your comment there is a 30% chance he will only ever settle exactly 6 tiles away.
It's not so much bonuses in Snow, unlike if he played in Russia. It's just doesn't suck if you build in snow unlike every other non-Russia Civ in the game.

When he noted how forcefully the builder built a farm, I realized why I needed this series. It's like NL doing a podcast about Civ the same way he might about Eva.
Yo Egg, I lurk your channel a lot but have been pretty bored of the usual content so I’m glad you’re spicing it up. Not a slight, just my opinion. Keep it up dude.

So Egg, first of all thank you for giving Civ another try. Its one of my favorite games and you're my favorite UA-camr so naturally love this. Secondly, As long as the music is coming from the game you won't get content ID matched so listen to the music to your heart's content! Also stop worrying about making mistakes so you can learn the game naturally. The difficulty that you're playing on means that you can be far from perfect and still pull out a W.
I am so happy that a lot of people here seem to be really into the idea of NL playing civ. Him mentioning it made me hopeful and seeing this video made me happier than it probably should.
Relax NL you are not doing bad! A Note about *harvesting* In Civ6 "Harvesting" a resource means that your builder unit "Destroys" that map resource/feature like stone, forest, sheep, grain, rice etc. (but not luxury resources and strategic resources) and gains a large burst of the resource in exchange for destroying it. This can be good and bad depending on your situation. For example chopping down a forest can give you an instant burst of production to get something finished. Harvesting a food resources may accelerate population growth. Harvesting copper will give you an influx of gold. It is also prudent to remove/harvest the resource if you would rather build something on it instead or you no longer need it. Not to be confused with "Removing" a resource which also destroys the resources but doesn't give you any benefits.

Hey Egg, i'm not here to backseat game or tell you that you missed a tinted village north of your capital (sorry i lied). Just some tips to help you feel like you're not playing so badly. First, you actively defending your cities is a good idea when enemies are around. It's better to be safe than sorry when you're moving settlers around. However you do not need to leave units inside your cities to protect them. Unlike in Civ 4, (which you mentioned you played alot of) cities in Civ 6 can defend themselves and have a combat strength just like your military units do. So if barbs do attack your city they will just do some damage and your city will heal on its own. That doesn't mean its useless however. It's still a good idea to put some units inside when someone is attacking your city as garrisoning a unit inside of a city increases its combat strength equal to a portion of the garrisoned unit. This is very good when your cities get walls because then your cities can attack from range and protect your units inside the city at the same time. This works very well with ranged units like archers who don't like to get into melee combat. Second, Spearman are more powerful than warriors but, warriors beat spearman 1v1 because warriors are considered "Melee" units and spearman are considered "Anti-Cavalry" units. Anti-cavalry units are, as you'd expect, good against cav. What is not immediately apparent however is that "melee" class units are good against anti-cav units. Melee units get (i believe) a +10 vs anti-cav units, so when a warrior with 20 strength fights a spearman with 25 strength, its really 30 vs 25. Plus the warrior you have has +7 from the promotion and +5 vs barbarians from your policy card. He should be able to beat that barbarian spearman no problem. You've also got a slinger to back him up, so go show that barbarian camp how good Canadians are at slapping things with sticks :D Third, the reason your scout and warriors suddenly stopped being able to move was because you promoted them. Promoting a unit will heal a portion of the units hp and consume all of its movement for that turn. Fourth, There are three ways to purchase a great person--Gold, Faith, and Great People Points. You get great people points from district buildings and the types they generate match the type of yield the district produces. So to get a great writer for Geneva you would need to build a Theater Square district and then build an amphitheater inside it to start generating great writer points. The same goes for the rest of them. If you want a great scientist you'd need to build a library inside a campus district, a great prophet from a holy site and so on. Lastly you can also generate great people points from wildcard policy slots if you really want to focus on a particular type of great person. I hope that helped answer some of your questions Egg. I really like Civ 6 so It's cool to see ya play it on the channel! I shall return next episode to assist if needed.
