Big fan Bill it was great to meet you last Sunday with Adrian. I got skunked unfortunately but that’s the name of the game sometimes.
nice meeting you ✌️it was a grind that day
Bill I’ve been slayin fish on your marabou jig recipe, you really perfected it. When people ask about it I always let them know who the OG is. Some of the best days come from working for the fish after a slow start. Great video as always
thats good to hear ✌️thanks i appreciate it 👍
4 hours without a bite but i never gave up - quitters never win 😜
Great video guys! Glad you finally got 'em Bill! I like that you mentioned the "turbidity level". It's been in the single digits on the Mohawk (near Albany). Last night it climbed to 300...then 500! 300 is beyond chocolate milk, and at 500 we can be like Jesus and walk on water 😂. Be well...tightest of lines...no skunkin'!
thanks man ✌️i drive by the Mohawk every day near Amsterdam - i dont usually fish if its over 20 turbidity unless its for Catfish
Great job working those marabou jigs and avoiding the walk of shame! Those brownies had awesome color! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
thanks Zac ✌️ almost skunked - had to get 1 at least 😎 tight lines
Way to stick with it Bill. Glad to see you get rewarded for the time you put in. Also, glad to see Mike back out.
thanks Jim ✌️ close call there
Great video as always! I'm excited for the run of browns next year!
thanks man ✌️going to be a good one
Nice to meet you and Mike, it was a grind that day and I just managed to land a steelhead. You and Mike did well down there, tight lines!
good to see you again - No Skunkin ✌️😎
Bill, we all have those days( was looking rough in the beginning), but way to finish strong!
thanks man ✌️close call
I really like fishing there in the cold months but it can be a little unpredictable from one week to the next. Great video. Way to stick with it.
Thanks man ✌️i still get a kick out of Burt fall or winter but not the most scenic place to fish
way to turn it around, i gotta admit seeing that rod hugger floating away was funny😅, cool pike catch too
Thanks man👍we never noticed it until editing video lol 🤣😂
Looks like a blast. gonna come up in October with a buddy and his dad for our first time and give it go.
late October should be better for browns✌️
Steelhead action has heated up on many tribs...just had a couple of great days (Fri/Sat), went 5 for 5 with the sons on a 1 hour outing, then caught a bunch of pike out of Olcott yesterday. This warm start to March has ramped up the bite for sure. I enjoy Spring Steelhead fishing more so than the Fall...ever try throwing a 1/8 or 1/16 oz jig (go heavier in faster current) with a white paddletail swim bait on and just slowly reeling it in? No float necessary. Simplifies the gear and you'll be surprised with the results. Minnows and jigs reign supreme this time of year. On the downside, I think this warm March is going to shorten the season by several weeks...will have the boat out early, time for bass.
i know guys do good casting stick baits - definitely on the feed
Thanks for another great video
Thanks for watching! 👍
Good stuff as always!
Appreciate that✌️
was there this morning before work, skunked lol
its been tough lately there
we saw a lady catch a giant this morning, just down from where you slipped in the mud. Glad you didn't skunked!!
Nice 👍 me too thanks ✌️
Another good day at the dirty Burt. I was up last week and it was so low. I did the walk of shame up the hill. I did land a nice steelie on the Niagara later on though.
thanks man ✌️it was a tough weekend
No skunkin. Quit a grind seem the fish started feeding in the afternoon. Good video
thanks man ✌️ some times you just got to stick it out
Great meeting you out there Bill and Mike. Wasn’t the best day but managed a few fish on jigs. Glad you decided to head down in the marsh and avoid the skunkin’. All fish are nice fish, even the smaller ones. Great day to be out, and a pleasure meeting with you and fishing together.
thanks Adrian ✌️Nice meeting you finally - should be one last push of fish soon
@@BillMikesAnglingAdventures I have a question for you Bill. When the game warden came to check your license, do you show them on your phone or you need to print a copy of it and have it with you.
i showed printed - I'm pretty sure on the phone is fine too but not positive
@@BillMikesAnglingAdventures Only reason I’m asking is because they stopped issuing the paper version and now it’s electronically.
Thought about going up to try an Ontario trip this week I got some on the Erie tribs not to long ago it was pretty slow and there where tons of smolts in some spots almost hard to fish around them. Great video bill, I just want to go where there’s fresher fish😂
thanks man ✌️ Ontario is the best bet for fresh fish now i think
@@BillMikesAnglingAdventures might give it a shot it’s a far drive for me but could hit Burt and the other ones more west.
Going tomorrow to ontario tribs. Hoping recent snow melt and rain bring the creeks up, its needed for sure. Last rain made almost no difference to low water. We'll see.
good luck man - looks like the Ontario tribs near me have a good stain but flows really not that much higher - should be one last good push of fish
Last time I went there I only had a pike, been having to work personally no matter what creek I've gone to, but hopefully with the warm up and some rain we will get some fresh fish and more active fish.
things should get going but the end is coming fast
I find it's the sun hitting the water . But we get days like this.
sometimes i slam in the sun but you never know
Just curious, is it really necessary to tip jigs with a wax worm? I've fished tribs all over the great lakes region with maribou and tube jigs and never once tipped it with wax, shrimp or spawn bag and I feel like I've had tremendous success through out 25 years of chasing these great fish. Great video by the way!
i think it helps sometimes but caught plenty on lain jigs too
thanks man ✌️
Havent seen any vids lately of that spot you guys used to hit. Small falls on your left, deep hole run with a small sand bar across in the creek. Hook up and walk em down the run walking next to that bridge wall on the concrete. Guy out on the sand bar with his dog in one episode. No access there anymore?
there's still access - been fishing other sections of the creek
“Mines bigger but we’re not measuring “ bill the road snake
haha 😎
Is the majority of that dead drifting? Or do you find twitching it works?
Also, do you find steelhead to be pickier than the browns? I do…..
just the occasional twitching - fall browns are tougher - now they want to eat everything
Why do you think as you said that next year will be phenomenal for browns? Im assuming next year means fall this year.
much better runs of smaller Browns this past fall and lower creel / 1 fish limit helps - lot more catch and release going on too so more fish will return for another run 😁
This year's run of browns was phenomenal...if Fall '24 can meet or exceed that it'll be an outstanding year for the Ontario tribs.
@@BillMikesAnglingAdventures hope you're right. Something needs to change. All trout species fishing has gotten much worse in recent years.
i thinks its the stocking
What new rod is that looks like a 9 footer
9.5 ' okuma sst next generation rod
