This is my favourite style of FPV!! I recently discovered this awesome route and this was only my 3rd attempt at flying it! And even though it was the 3rd time there were parts I hadn't attempted before, like the pass between/under the 2 trees in the field (previous times there were cows sat there 😆). It's no cinematic spectacle with the Runcam2's un-stabilised image in mixed conditions, but this is raw uncut FPV 🤘🏻 Weather wasn't perfect, hands were very cold and numb towards the end, heart was beating like crazy, but overall it was a good run and one of the most fun and risky flights I've ever had. Passing under the bridge is nerve-racking... on the approach I always feel there's a strong chance of failure, which would most likely lead to full loss of airframe and electronics.
Funny story, after such a risky and successful run, the Mini Talon met the end of its life on this flight due to a crosswind catching me out on landing. It was very tatty and I was hoping to retire it this season anyway. So it was fitting that it completed its main goal, this river run, on its final flight.
For this flight I used the TrueRC Gatling to get the best possible video flying low behind land and objects, full kit list of what was used in this flight below. Thanks for watching and please remember to leave a reaction before you go 😁

Yeah a few close calls there! The tree gap nearly caught me out haha! The bridge pass was very calm on this 3rd attempt, previous 2 tries were close calls 😆 Cheer mate!

There's something really fun about following a river in FPV. I've always loved it and this has to be my ultimate river run so far!

That was an awesome flight! I puckered up a few times with some of those scary ghost trees I must say! The good old mini talon is such a fantastic plane!
Haha yeah there were a couple of scary moments! On previous attempts it had been the bridge pass which was a close one but on this run the bridge pass went smoothly and it was trees that nearly took me down😅

Hey, there's not really much I changed from the original setup other that I swapped out the MFDAP for a Matek 405 with iNav and I changed the canopy camera setup. For the canopy I printed this part: www.itsqv.com/QVM/index.php?title=File:52071sm.JPG I installed a runcam Phoenix 2 FPV cam in the nose and for HD recording I'm running a Runcam2. I made it with the cheaper FC and cheaper HD cam so that I could use it for high risk flights like this one. Didn't want to risk losing my DJI Osmo Action etc. Thats all the changes since the original build, let me know if you think I'm missing something. This flight ended up with the Mini Talon taking on heavy damage so I'll be retiring it now, I have a Talon Pro I will transplant the electronics over to. Cheers

What a ride! Lot's of close calls that get the adrenaline flowing, fantastic, i love it. We don't have that kind of scenery here to do this crazy stuff, we're stuck with high speed passes between trees.

Thanks Nick, there's definitely a more 'real' feeling to a video when stabilisation isn't used. Plus using stabilisation crops the image and you end up with a video that makes you look like you weren't flying very low when you were in fact skimming the grass 😅 Next year I'm going to try the same run with something more stable. You my friend , You must be a high level gamer to be that aggressive or you just have the huevos to attempt this , I would probably say this is in my top 3 videos . Keep up the great flying , You need to apply with a big movie company in Hollywood and get paid the big bucks and have a team of people building you planes constantly . You are that good !!!!!

Yeah practice of flying FPV over the years has lead to this. Lucky for me this run was only attempted 3 times in total (on different days) and it was a little better each time. I'm sure I'll do this route again next year with a different more stable plane. Cheers

Where you put the ground station y relation to the distance and altitud? Up at the hill, mid rise or at the bottom end?

Oh my god, that was absolutely fantastic mate. I was actually moving my head about as if I was in the plane. The two trees and the bridge had my heart going and I wasn't even flying it. I'm 51 and started this hobby about 5 years ago, can't you just pop over to The New Forest one day and give me a crash course Adam and let me download everything you know 😆 I'm flying the Dart XLe on FPV and slowly building up to some low level runs here, maybe one day I'll grow up to be as good as you Adam.... spot on mate👍

Fantasic video. Great fpv video image. As I was sitting in my chair watching i caught myself helping in the turns by leaning over. HaHa😂😂 Glad to have stumbled on this video as I am currently preparing a Dart XL with Matek fpv 1.3 Tx/Rx. I have a question: I am looking for information on the installation of 1.3 fpv equipment along with 2.4 as nav frequencies. I understand that there is a probability of interference. For starters i don't plan on a ground station. Do you have any videos that go into this type of setup and what to look out for or point me towards some info. thank you
Hi, glad you enjoyed it :) I don't have any videos on mixing 1.3 and 2.4 as it's a setup i steer clear of. I tried it once back in my early days of FPV and it wasn't very successful. I had issues before I even made it 300m from home. I'd recommend avoiding this config if you can

Unreal flight! Going for those gaps so far out... that took real guts, man! If you've retired the airframe, for the love of god please use an HD cam w/ stabilization on your next build ;-D
Thanks William, it really had the heart going! 😅 I moved away from using my Osmo Action stabilised cam on this plane as I rebuilt it with cheap parts. I did this because I was full convinced I'd crash this and it may end up in a river at some point... Next year I hope to fly this route again with a more stable plane, the MT is always wobbly. Cheers
Hey Adam. Just clicked by algo and run a Talon as well but mostly vfr to near fpv with gimbal cam. I run the AP 41 and like to know what video/rc transmission you use because you do what I have in mind but I cancled meanwhile becausd of signal risk. Thanks bud, hope for some infos. Thanks Peter 😃 Yeah I knew there were power cables there so my plan was to dip down pretty quickly after passing over the trees. On the YT upload it's pretty much impossible to see but I also pass under power cables around the 5:12 mark. A few seconds before you can see one of the posts over to the right in the fields. Cheers

I want to do exactly this; I currently freestyle quads in the city, and only fly Los planes a few times a year. Really need to combine the two and go all Shelby Voll and fpv wings through parking garages😻

Hi Adam, just been out this morning with my Z84 Wing maiden, loved it but I used my Runcam Split 3 Nano HD FPV Camera as my FPV camera and it was dreadful ☹ I have been through your builds and you seem to use the Caddx Ratel 2 Starlight FPV Camera, can you recommend this camera Adam? Hey, yes the Ratel 2 is pretty much the best analogue camera you can buy at the moment in my opinion. Split cameras are very hit and miss :/

Yeah for sure, his flights down that awesome mountain and along the river in Switzerland are just stunning. He's one of the only other fixed wing FPV pilots out there that will fly like this. Cheers

I think that FPV flights of this kind would not be possible with 5G8 video. 1G2 / 1G3 is simply better. At least when flying low.

Glad to hear it, will be a hard one for me to beat now! 😅 The Mini Talon could be repaired but it's very tatty and it's time to transfer the electronics into an airframe that's in better shape. I have a Talon Pro here in the box, I'll be interested to see how it compares. Cheers!
What CoG do you use for this style of flying, 55mm leading edge?
Can't remember now but 55mm sounds about right. I didn't do anything different from the norm

Hi, sorry the MT is gone now and I wiped the FC and moved it into a new plane so don’t have access to the details in the tune anymore.
Is it possible for me to attatch a long range FPV camera on my edf jet and have a long range 3 min flight?
You can put an FPV system on an EDF yes... but as for a long range 3min flight... depends how far you can go out and back in 3 mins

It's sometimes hard to judge scale on videos like this down the side of a mountain, but what you saw there is deer, not rabbit 👍🏻

Na I've no interest in helicopters, all about the wings. The MT isn't the most stable for this sort of flying but I'll return with a different plane one day

I think you’ll find most people out there are using 1.3G in a region they shouldn’t 🤪

@@trumblez I would avoid using 2.4 with 1.3 if I were you. Even with filters it’s not going to be great. 868 or 433 with 1.3 for best reaults

Yeah for sure. It's fully legal and normal to use copyrighted music on YT. What it means for me is I cannot monetise my video (which I don't care about) and that some small adds appear. Overwerk will collect any money made from advertisements on this video.
