This actually perfectly conveys the feeling of both pieces: 1) A command from God to kneel before Him while Hell rages around you, on the last day, as all will do when the Day of Wrath happens: There’s a reason it’s called the Wrath of the Lamb. 2) The Lacrimosa: A plea for mercy on that day, from all living and dead, from angels and saints, a plea for the dead and dying to be granted mercy, on the same day, both with reverence and with acknowledgement of the Wrath of the Lamb, oddly soothing yet terrifying. Both reflecting that it’s a prayer, a submission to God’s will.
Sometimes people modernise classical pieces and "abuse" them. But this recording is done with greatest respect, appreciation und musicality. And I agree with some of the commentators that wrote "Mozart would have liked this version". Very well done!
This is F-ing brilliant! I imagine this video was recommended to me because I can't stop watching Selin Schönbeck's metal version of the Brahms Req II. I loved the subtle beginning contrasted with the total sense of urgency when the choir entered with Confutatis (Once the cursed have been silenced, sentenced to acrid flames, Call me, with the blessed.) I was literally in tears at the Lacrymosa (Tearful [will be] that day, on which from the glowing embers will arise the guilty man who is to be judged....). We don't always hear the desperation that we hear in this performance. "Huic ergo" (Then spare him, O God.) combined appropriate supplication with desperation, and a total desperation returned with "Pie Jesus requiem" (Grant him rest, Jesus). I have sung this work many times, and have heard ensembles with many different choral styles perform it, and I fully support the choice of a young-sounding choir here. Well done, I say! (BTW, I am an opera blogger known as Taminophile who has always loved and written about choral music.)
This really blew me away. I sing with the philharmonic and we are now working on Mozart Requiem (one of my all time favorite pieces). If Mozart was alive today, he'd be a real rocker. Great job Matt! Thanks so much
Felicitaciones.
This was magical! I think Mozart would've loved it. It gave me goosebumps. I have watched this several times and I bought the song on i-tunes. I am so enamored of this rendition. Thank you!
Breakups suck--believe me, I know--but those of us who connect closely with music and beauty of any kind can find solace and go briefly to a happy place. I'm reading your comment a year after you posted it--I hope things are better now.
Having heard MANY versions of Mozart's Requiem, I can say that I'm very impressed! You wonderfully captured the essence, without diminishing the majesty of the work. Bravo!!!
One could not render it better in rock! Brilliant!! Also see the timelessness of Mozart, man! Nothing seems to be lost in terms of the feel! The drums replace classical percussion and wind instruments most aptly!! Every slight alteration delivers to the fullest! I think old Wolfie would have patted you on the back for this!
Congratulations!!! You have put an Epic piece of music by an Incredible Composer to a genre that many young peeps will appreciate. Yes, Mozart was a Rocker too!!!!😎🎸
@@popkorn256 I thought the vocal ensemble sounded good, and I support the choice of a young-sounding choir for this video. The opera chorus from the Met would not work as well.
Time traveler: Wolfgang, did you think your Requiem would be played 240 years from now, but on new instruments? Wolfgang: Yes. It’s the greatest funeral mass ever written. Of course it would be remembered and played on instruments available. Traveler: Wait, you... Wolfgang: not the answer you were expecting, huh?
This is stupendous! I just learned the Verdi Requiem and was watching our concert video just this afternoon. I was also trying to cheer up a friend who had just gone through Hurricane Ian with something to make her laugh (this is not it) and just sent her Mozart Confutatis koala version which was hysterical. Then UA-cam offered this to me and I couldn't resist. Now I'm going to have to share this with her for her classical soul. I'm also going to share it with my digital choir!!
i have to tell you many congrats for this wonderful version you gave at this masterpiece of WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART you all respect it, and gave the very very best of you
Very creative
Thank you Mozart, glad you dug it!
man rose outta his grave
Lol
don‘t you wanna make jokes about farting? ^^
I agree

Simply the best version of "Confutatis and Lacrimosa" modern style... I think Mozart will be happy 😊👍👏👏👏
Thank you so much Roberto!

Dynamics are not right.

More contemporary adaptations like this should be made. Incredible creative vision and beautiful transition from Confutatis to the Lacrimosa.
Thank you for the kind words!
If Mozart could watch that from beyond he'd probably be proud of that, awesome!
I am in tears - love the requiem from mozart - you did it justice
This version feels holy and inspiring at the same time. It shows that anything is possible if you put your mind into it.
Thank you for you kind words!

The choir are absolutely phenomenal!! Easily one of the best performances of this I’ve heard!! Amazing job guys!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Lacrimosa is my favorite classical song of all time and the rock cover of it is amazing!

No better way to bring classical with epic..... amazing, loved it
The very best interpretation of Mozart’s masterpiece. 💎👌 Very touching.
Wow thank you very much, I'm glad you like it!
You trully deserve to do the cover of the Master. It is rarely properly done. Literally cried listening to your version. Thank you. Respect.
It's awesome! Even in dramatic moments music is beautiful... As Mozart said. Great work!

This channel is so awesome; great arrangements, great versions and repertoire... This one in particular is my favorite video so far :)
Wish there were more musicians like you, fond of classic and rock music. Congratulations
well there are many but we are not all as talented 😁😁
The epic stuff you find on youtube after a couple drinks always amazes me
Haha I'm glad you stumbled upon this and enjoyed it!
I have never seen and heard anything better than that. Guys, my respect to all of you.

2:25 boss music
Haha totally!
yes.
sounds like kind of dark souls boss theme but remixed
Simplesmente maravilhoso!!!
Muito obrigado!!!
It turned out fantastic. I like this work anyway, I think that if Mozart were alive now, he would have arranged it like this.
wonderful work for the choirs !
seams here´s another genius at work- excellent version! Yes, mozart IS happy!!!
Bravo
Wow - just wow. I've sung the requiem in a big choir and it is very moving to sing it. This piece in particular. Well done.
My only criticism, if it's really one, is that it's only 5:16 minutes long
We need Rock Requiem
They should have gathered more people for the voices to make it sounds even better. Surprisingly good vocals :)
@@popkorn256 I thought the vocal ensemble sounded good, and I support the choice of a young-sounding choir for this video. The opera chorus from the Met would not work as well.
It needs rex tremendae and dies irae
Bravo, I don't consider it so irreverent, it is a new way of expressing the greatness of this immortal work.
Спасибо всем участникам, и кто придумал проект! ^_^ Очень здорово!
Большое спасибо!
If Mozart were alive and saw this, he would be proud. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh thank you very much, I really hope he would like it!
I agree with you 100%!
Mozart is the best!
If he WAS alive, not were.
Bat salieri wasn't

¡¡EXCELENTE...MARAVILLOSA VERSIÓN!!
Yes!
I miss a cello, but I love it and thanks!
This is simply amazing!
Muy original si señor, me encantó, no me canso de escucharla.
SUPER BRAVO!
I think you really nailed it, one of May favorite version! I love It, Now I need the Guitar tabs!
Amazing performance
Thank you so much!
Too good.... Want many more like this...

4:06 when the guitar breathes in ;).
Amazing version but I would bring the guitar up and get the choir to step back 1 metre
Great work. Congratulations.
Thank you very much!
What a wonderful cover ,im smiling from ear to ear
So glad you enjoyed it Javier!
Amazing! Congrats!
Sorry dass ich nochmal schreibe, aber ich höre das Lied jeden Tag schon, so was SCHÖNES! Wahrhaft! Exzellent!

Of course, I meant to say “I just learned the MOZART Requiem”!
The best I’ve ever heard of Mozart covers. My respects.
.... That female Chorus... WOOOOOOW It's amazing!
If these music's were created 30 years from now it would still be ahead of its time.
Good enough. I've liked how is blended "confutatis" with "lacrimosa" in a very smooth passage.
But the guitarist don't need to be a contortionist...
he arranged the song so.. why not
You didn't need to be a prick, but here you are on youtube being one anyways.
@Lucas Oliveira Since you said it was okay, “whose” should be changed to “who”. Your english is really good though!
great work!!! it really captured the essense of the original piece and modernized it, rather than taking it as the seed for a new work.
*WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??*
It's too beautiful 😍
felemelően szép ,csodálatos előadás volt,köszönjük szépen......
This is genuinely phenomenal! Brilliant.
Excellent Fusion
Excellent!!! If Mozart were alive, I think he would be excited, as his was a brilliant and innovative mind in his difficult times.
Very nice! I hear Queen and that's a compliment.
Mozart is looking down with a big grin on his fase. Fantastic.
