I am 64 and was introduced to this beautiful piece of music in high school and have loved it ever since. I've told my wife that, if I should find myself in a terminal state, play a recording of this at my bed side as the beauty of it will usher me into eternity.

    Outstanding ❤
I played the piano for my HS Chorus. This was one of our favorites. We also went to All State, Virginia

I am almost 60, and remember singing this as a teenager at Music Camp in Georgia. This group has done a great job! Their dynamics are so similar to what our conductor asked for. It has always been one of my favorites. We had to memorize about fifteen pieces of this degree of difficulty and present a concert on the tenth day. The orchestra is also excellent, much better than any high school orchestra I've ever heard. Congrats, you guys!

Beautiful!!! I'm also left speechless and in tears. I'll always remember learning and performing this in high school but hearing it with the band makes it so much more intense!!!

Sang this long ago in all state choir in CT. We had like two days to learn it and the performance was recorded on vinyl. The conductor demanded from us the maximum of dynamics on every phrase. He got it. It was pure magic.

Awesome rendition of a not so easy choral piece. The addition of the band is not overdone. This sent shivers down my spine. Video was jerky but despite the quality of the sound, you can tell it is just an excellent choral performance.

i remember singing this song in HS and I am 60 now. Randall Thompson was such an extraordinary composer and these students played and sang with such feeling and finesse. Thank you.

Sang this song in highschool chorus and once in college chorus. This song really gives such a power but also softness in the lyrics and movement. Always been a favorite

I performed this in High School back in 1976. This brings back memories that I had long forgotten. This was beautifully done and a joy to listen to.

The conductor gave a beautiful performance allowing the power and strength of the music to soar and then letting the clear soft passages float as gentle zephyrs. Beautiful interpretation.

Performed this very number in 1961 at the same concert in Tampa 50 years earlier. WOW! Brought back so many memories.

So powerful and beautiful a performance, it brought our recorder to tears, apparently (and who could blame him?).

He “apparently said?” Apparently this director doesn’t believe the testimony of God.
Well done, chorus! A favorite of mine since I had the honor of singing this with a combination of other school choirs as a young high school students and combined bands.

This performance has no personality. They sung it exactly as written. No nothing, no character.

bs comment. that's the whole point- to sing it exactly as written, as the composer intended. what would you have them do? it's beautiful from start to finish. No character? The music itself is the character.

Wrong. They performed it with such power, such depth. This is a wonderful performance.
