"Tshotsholoza" - GMEA 2012 All-State Chorus : 9/10 Mixed Choir
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Disclaimer Many have commented that the title should be spelled "Shosholoza" instead of "Tshotsholoza." On the physical copies of music the choir was given, the title is spelled as "Tshotsholoza." Regardless of whether this is correct or incorrect, I will leave the title as is; as this is the spelling of the work as published by Walton Music.
Conducted and arranged by Dr. Jeffrey Ames
2012 GMEA All-State-Chorus Intermediate Mixed (9-10th grade high school), Feb 25, 2012, Savannah GA, Civic Center Theatre
I GOT THE SOLO FOR THIS ILL NEVER FORGET
Tayes Woodham woww
You've got an amazing voice, kid. Wish I would have heard this in person, but I think I might have been in rehearsal for my choir that day!
Emily Cummings well this isn't my video sadly this kids great but I think I was close 😊 anyways thank you
Tayes Woodham your singing uplifts my spirits
best choir
They are 13-16 years old. That always baffled me. I've always done All State and it is always the best thing to hear people who are so young but have beautiful voices.
I so agree
awww i forgot i wrote this and it got a lot of support 🥺 and this was before my last all state too
I did this with my choir too last year, im a freshman in highschool
I GOT THE SOLO FOR THIS SONG, being able to listen to previous Tenors/Bass singers really helps me figure how to sing it as best as possible
I’m doing my solo tomorrow, I’m super nervous but at the same time I’m so excited
The soloists sounded amazing so strong, together amazing pure vowels and I love hearing their vibrato after the "ah"
I was so lucky to be a part of this choir experience. Can't believe I still remember every word perfectly, even after seven years. ❤️
I WAS IN THE AUDIENCE DURING THIS ONE AND WHEN I SAY Y'ALL CAPTIVATED ME.
Me and and three of my friends sang this at district honors choir, we were all different parts, soprano alto tenor and baritone, and when we get together we all just nod then start singing this song, it’s great we all remember our parts perfectly
My choir sang this song. It's lots of fun!
My choir is learning it now😂
@@Nia-zg5or Cool!
I have a solo in mine!
I'm having fun singing along. I think work songs (including sea shanties) are sort of designed to be fun to sing with.
That. Was.
AWESOME!!!! (shout out to those amazing soloists)
This song represents freedom. It is about the train from South Africa to Zimbabwe taking workers to and back from the mines. It talks about keeping the train moving. It was sung in front of Mandela's home the night he died & was kept going until the wee hours. Great performances, all
Feels like yesterday! So thankful that I was part of this amazing choir as a sophomore 🥹
Not me running into you in the comments on this video!! 😂 hey friend 😍 I was just listening to the video from when we sang Tres Cantos Nativos!
Honestly this is the best version I've heard. Soooo good!
yes
This was such a fun trip and our conductor was amazing, Back in all state but in senior mens this time. Cant wait
Solo sounds amazing
We doing this for our concert this month for black history month.
Ill never forget doing this for my school. Whole choir brought the house down. Good memory. Love this song and all of its hidden meaning. Even 10 years later this song is still incredibly powerful.
Absolutely adore this song! Easily one of my favorites to hear in a choir and these kids are amazing
My choir College sing this song and our professor said this song is for more advanced choir. And this 9th and 10th graders can sing this song, its could be possible either the school is experienced music or the teacher like to push challenging on their students. My music teacher at high school did the same to us and it's help us to push out of our comfort zone because if we stuck on singing English only song than it's hurt us music students not gotten used different languages songs. I see this first handed when some music experienced students and new ones haven't experienced different languages songs. I did and I can see why my music teacher said it's really important to sing in different languages. My classmates and professor was shocked I can sing in different language so easily. My professor asked how, I told her my music teacher from my highschool likes to push us to learned different language songs. She was impressed and asked to help out other who needed help which I did.

The correct spelling for "Tshotsholaza" is Shosholoza. Moving Fast, Moving Strong. The word Shosholoza is a combination of both Ndebele (of Zimbabwe) and Zulu (of South Africa) words meaning “to push forward, endeavor, or strive.” The sound of the word itself is symbolic of the steam engine trains that carried miners through the mountains
I love 💗 how 9/10 grades got together to sing 🎶 Tshostoloza song 🎶
Awesome! Thank you for posting!
I'm preforming this at a mass choir for school. Ohhhhhh booooooyyyyy

very good version. The best I've heard on stage is the version from the first big South African musical "King Kong"
Lit as hell
Love this song
Ok, but why is no one talking about those boujee choir risers with a BENCH to sit on for each row
Righttt I was looking at their stand and was like *wtf*
So good
I always come back to this vid just for the soloists cuz it sounded so proper and good and amazing diction, tbh I don't like the song when a choir including girls sing it it gives it a childish tone a choir of just guys sound much better but this was still good
Singing this in two days for RIMEA
The soloists make me want to cry.. in a good way!
we're doing this song in our all county

My choir did this :)
Yo escuchando*
Yo flipando*😳
Wey no puedo dejar de escuchar la música me gusta es contraste de las notas la mezcla de voz femenina y masculina queda genial.
The white person said regardless of the correct spelling they'd leave it as it is cos some "Walton MUsic" published it that way. do you think this song is from chicago?
You should see the drakensberg boys choir from South Africa perform this piece
