+Joseph Batson as someone that's been on this show, I can verify that having Matt interview you while he hoons your car through a canyon is the most distracting experience ever, and it's hard to carry a conversation or remember what you wanted to talk about. lol. this guy did pretty well though!
Why do people think this guy was scared? He seemed to be just hanging out. Seems he really enjoys his car, which is all that really matters. It does sound pretty good too.
Is the owner of this car in the comments?! I want to get him and his car featured on our channel!! As soon as I saw he was from Vancouver I was like "Yepp, we need to film that"
It's cool getting to see you drive Lambos and stuff, but my favourite vids are when you jump in some person's small car that isn't a high price super fast exotic, but they've put their heart into it, and you love it. You're a great motoring journalist who can see what there is to love in a whole range of cars, not just the ones that get down the strip or around the track quickest.
Lol @ people griping about the teespring pricing or not going through a regular printing company. You don't like it, you don't have to buy it. You can't please everybody. Selling shirts is hit or miss, even with a page as large as this. Using teespring just means a zero risk opportunity for TST to do a limited run of the shirt, they sell EXACTLY what they need and don't have a bunch of inventory just sitting around. We do the same thing on our page with new designs. If it sells hot enough, we add it to our inventory when we take it to events like TX2K.
People can complain, but the fact is it's been hugely successful so far. We sold over 200 shirts yesterday alone, which is fine by me. And the people who do buy them will be happy with the quality
What's the sizing like on the shirts? I got the "Yes officer that was us" shirt for free when I bought a pair of Dillon optics and the large ended up way too small for me. Any comparison?
Yup, it's nice not having to deal with proofs, ordering, picking up inventory, addressing all those orders, shipping, etc. Especially if you're pressed for time. For a page with only 130K followers, selling 700 shirts in one campaign is our current best. Getting a handle on Facebook's algorithm sometimes is a PITA though.
I'm 210-ish, 5'11" and wear a large in the teespring premium shirt. It's a smidge tight right now because I gained a bit this past year due to classes eating my spare time. How I still fit in my Firebird's Corbeau CR1's, I have no idea. They're designed to be more of a fitted tee, not loose like the hanes tagless.
I'm 6.3 and I was surprised at the amount of room in these little cars. You're right Matt, not good for a daily driver but it looks like a fun weekend runner.
Nice job on the Fiat build, and a fellow Canadian! I still say the 1.4T in the Abarth is one of the best sounding production 4cyl turbos ever. Next summer I was toying with the idea of driving my Alfa Romeo 155 V6 down to Matt to drive, you have inspired me to take the plunge. The 500 Abarth is on my short list for a nice cheap hot hatch to mod - either that or an 06 Cooper S [miss my old one].
Congrats on being featured Eddie! As others mentioned, the wide lens camera must make the speed look distorted. Because.. man does this car accelerate! PS. This is coming from someone who works at Porsche with 911 turbos coming factory at 2.9/3sec. Total props to you Eddie!
why do people always have to complain about the advertising or merchandise on this channel. Just shut up and watch the video your not being forced to buy or watch anything, Matt is taking the time out of his life to do what he likes to do and take us along with him, why cant you just support that even a little bit?
My favorite is looking at those comments that say "everyone in the comments thinks this is terrible!!". Yeah buddy, all 800 comments out of the 27,000 people who have watched the video is really everyone...
TWIRKNOLOVE The heatshield wrap doesn't change the fact that you're pulling in hot air from the engine bay. Hell, why even bother insulating the tube if you suck in hot air anyway? The intercooler now has to do more work to cool the air down. The charge air will be hotter than with an actual CAI. E85 with HAI means a higher charge air temperature than E85 with an actual CAI. Cars are machines designed to carry people from point a to point b in an efficient, comfortable and safe way. Then, using a pod air filter on a street driven, turbocharged car is asking for trouble. Yes, they allow slightly better airflow (not that important for the turbo, since the difference in power is usually small), but do so by filtering less. Less filtering means more particles going into the turbo, hitting the compressor wheel (which spins really quickly), wearing it down like a sand blaster, which can make your turbo go south. There, you now got the attention you were asking for.
+Brodey Dover plus this guy apparently prefers driving straight lines, so he bought a 1.4 Fiat, a car that does corners way better than straights. Go figure......
The 500 Turbo is the base Abarth in Europe so of course it sounds good. Abarth started as a company making performance exhausts for Fiats, Lancias and other Italian stuff.
Hey Matt! I love your videos man! I hate to be that guy, but I don't think your fiesta made 320 WHP on the 100 octane tune. I'm a huge Fiesta ST nut, and watched your videos like 10 times lol. It made 320 ft/lbs TORQUE at the wheels. Something around 220-230 hp at the wheels? Those cars aren't capable of much more than 225-230 hp on the stock turbo. But the torque is monstrous!! 320 torque in a little car like that is awesome. You are correct! That fiesta would probably be on par with this fiat, due to the torque. But not quite in horsepower. I know it's easy to get jumbled during a one take shoot lol, I don't blame ya. Awesome video. Love that car. MISS YOUR FIESTA!!!
This is my shit right here. ;) He kinda looks terrified at some points, although I'm sure it's just him looking out for his car. Mad props to him for bringing it all the way down the west coast.
Heeey, the first owner that didn't talk out of his ass. I stop watching when the owners start making stuff up. Good job humble and knowledgeable Canadians.
This is actually a good interview, Dexter Manley asked good questions and the answers were interesting, especially considering that the turbo has been doubled in size! I'm scared that things going to blow any second... but it sounds fantastic and it looks like about as much fun as you can have on the road.
I love how Matt drives the car like ''huh.. this is kinda nice'' while the car owner is holding on for dear life and looking like: ''AHHH IM GONNA DIEEE!!!1"
fun one take!. Owner had a few funny butt pucker moments with Matt driving (6:00 and 8:00) and it was great to see and hear how enthusiastic he is about his car. Nice review and fun to watch! Got a T-shirt Matt!
I expected this to have some serious turbo-lag, but it seems legit! Nice unique car and great review as always Mat! When are we going to see more of your new Focus RS?
How much boost, if I had to guess not a lot. But then again I know very little about the engine, if its direct injected, multi injected, etc. Might help it be more efficient.
+C Mendoza way more boost than you think/assume. iirc with the big turbo this guy is around 20psi, stock Abarth is 18psi on gt1446 (I'm running 23-25psi with my tune)
Pretty cool what he did to this, and seems pretty reliable for a fiat ..takes a beating well and doesn't really seem to heat soak.Good stuff. But it seems like it makes Maybe around 200-215 wheel max which is more then fast but 260 would have pinned you guys into your seats and Matt would of commented more on how well the power is.If that's 260 wheel then maybe the high altitude , long tranny gears..or the pump gas it's on is slowing it down or the video isn't doing justice ..nice car all in all
Wow! that guy looked like he was going to dive out the window! I have never seen one of these where the owner was truly scared to let you drive. This guy was terrified! Cool car!
He truly did look like he was scared shitless the ENTIRE time.. That and how he kept looking over at what I am to assume was the speedo lmao Glad I wasn't the only one to notice this
Usually I hate these appeals to nostalgia (eg Mini, Beetle, Camaro), but they really seem to have made a proper effort with the new 500, I can't hate it.
Funny, I'm playing Gran Turismo 5 and took this 1.2L 8V Fiat 500 with 69hp and tuned it to a 260hp beast. Changed the color to Red, changed the wheels to a better racing look and I love it, sadly it's just a PS3 game...
hey edward clark, when you swap over parts from the abarth to make up the difference you are adding weight to the car, so you end up not being lighter.
It's just a 16g, far from a big turbo. This is a tiny 1.4L though, you really can't get too crazy without building the engine. Tuning for these cars isn't ideal, and it has the stupid multiair which makes things trickier.
It's gained power since. The turbo is only comparatively big. The transmission (4th gear) blew up after the next power mod about 4 days after this was shot.
I think it's really funny that he considers a 16g 'big' Us honda guys consider a 16g more of like a small intro to turboing turbo. And most of us are around 1.6-2 litres. *edit* I guess compared to what most do with irregular platforms like this, and considering the size it is sort-of large, I would consider it more mid-size based on the engine displacement alone.
"Can we turn on the defroster? it's getting steamy in this bitch." LOL. This guy looks like he's not even breathing! Looks scared shitless. Great car and video.
There's zero room in these cars. From the factory the airbox sits directly on top of the valve cover... They have dual intercoolers stock due to no room as well
Info on the turning radius. Non-Abarths have a turning radius of 30 feet. The Abarth has a turning radius of 37 feet. I remember reading about one owner swapping the steering rack of his Abarth with a regular steering rack. I might do that one day to my Abarth just so I no longer get stuck in parking lots! 37 feet is the turning radius of a big-ass SUV!
Multiair/valvetronic is not variable timing, it's variable lift too which is why the throttle is no longer the main part of torque request. So your statement is irrelevant. As to your last statement, perhaps you should go check your fire extinguisher, you're bound to need it soon ;) EDIT: looks like he deleted his comment about Alfa using variable cam timing in the 80s as though that made current tech boring and old then went on to insult all of Germany
Multi-Air is an electro-hydraulic actuated intake valve. No intake cam which allows 5 different lift profiles at a max duration of 249*. There is still a throttle that operates like any throttle.
Yes there is but just like valvetronic, the throttle is really only used for fine-tuning low pedal inputs, creating vacuum off throttle and a safety backup. It's practically unused for controlling engine load like traditional designs.
Also, there's still an intake cam. The hydraulic control comes from replacing the traditional rocker/lifter combo. I'm not aware of any true camless setup beyond some Koenigsegg experimental stuff.
+Ryan Hard throttle position percentages I have seen show it like any electronic throttle. The car has two profiles for throttle and boost. The profiles dictate ramp rate of each. If the throttle is not being used why are the percentages correlating with degrees of throttle. If what you are saying is the case then after part throttle it should just be wide open but I have seen it on the dyno.
Hey Matt, Any chance you can maybe get a camera setup on your footwork when driving manuals??? I'm terrible heel toe'ing (don't judge) and trying to see how good drivers like yourself handle situations on and off the track.
Awesome! I have driven a manual 18+ years and I am staying in sport rather than sport + mode in the m4 way too much. I'm pretty sure your comment when on the track in the m2 about us being "Vageeeens" has motivated me enough to learn how to do it properly. Looking forward to the series and hopefully you you will show the best way to practice as well so I don't destroy 14 clutches in the process.
Matt, thank you so much! I've been trying to learn via videos, the only thing I really have to help me is a steering wheel for racing sim games (no clutch pedal though). And sadly, the only real car I could use to practice is my dad's '74 911 which he would hate to have me tear up lol
I thought that car looked familiar, and then you said you cam from Vancouver. I semi-regularly see a black 500 in North Van that makes really good noises, so I'm assuming that's you. Awesome.
Yup, that's me. It's in Washington getting a built engine and trans right now so I'm driving my shitty little Jetta instead. It'll be back up here in about a month. 500crew.com if you want to come out to a meet and take a look.
Haha this is hilarious, I'm from North Van too, and pretty sure I've seen this car before. At first I thought this was the black Abarth with mud flaps I always see on lower lonsdale
The guy wanted to share his ride with us, maybe he's not used to people driving his car. He stepped out of his comfort zone to share his whip and I respect that!

Respect you defending that
This is the first owner I've seen who looks genuinely terrified.

Maybe in Canada they drove slow ehh?
watch the modded 335 video. Owner dies a little inside. Funny as shit.
he "likes straight lines". Ya, I can tell by the way you clench your but cheeks around corners
The dude looks like he was chewing a toffee with his butt.
You can tell this guy loves this car, awesome to see people happy.
This guy had the courtesy to drive from BC to California to give content to you guys only for people in the comments section to talk bare shit about the guy who they know absolutely nothing about.

nice to see an owner know his shit about his car.
you must be new to the channel

Am I the only one who saw that CLK63 Black Series in the background? Can't wait for that vid to come out.
Not sure it's a Black Series.
Looks like the plate says 6T3BLK. Whether it is or isn't I can't wait to see that one take either.
Just confirmed it is a 2008 Black Series. Super stoked to see this one!
GrandCamino6 Good to know. Still my fav Black Series so far.
Chek his Instagram and you will see ;-)
Why do people think this guy was scared? He seemed to be just hanging out. Seems he really enjoys his car, which is all that really matters. It does sound pretty good too.
The guy seemed very knowledgeable and passionate. He took what he had and made an okay car great. Good video Matt!
One of the best owners and interaction types I've seen. Eddie seems like a super, super cool guy. Great video.

That's the fastest looking licorice jelly bean I've seen since at least Christmas dinner at the in-laws' place.
Really liked this one, this guy knows his car really well. Enjoyed listening to the nerd facts!

thank you!
The small, nimble, affordable cars personalized by their owners are the best One Takes! Thank you both!
LOL! The owner was like bug eyed the entire drive.
no he was canadian
+wastegate lmAo! 😂
i think its the cliffs lol
It's really just his glasses that make his eyes look huge. dude has a strong prescription

Word, I bought the shit out of both the All Cars go to Heaven Films, fuck renting.
Why does this guy looks so nervous the entire time his face says omg get outta my car lol.
It's scary af riding passenger, even if it is in your own car.
makes it more scary when its your own car lol
+Aj Warne Yeah i'm scared when somebody drives my car,it's uncomfortable.
Looks like he's gonna chuck lol
Dude Matt Farah is fucking fast, the gopro's don't show it that well.
Nice hot air intake.
Noticed that too, I went back to the walk around thinking/hoping he had a functional hood scoop lol
wat is heatshield wrap
wat is intercooler
wat is e85
wat are cars
Congrats, you got the attention you asked for.
TWIRKNOLOVE
The heatshield wrap doesn't change the fact that you're pulling in hot air from the engine bay.
+Central Intelligence Agency have you seen the size of the engine bay? there is not much room left after that big turbo.
Relocate the battery into the trunk and you got yourself space for an OEM-like filter system.
By the way, OEM filter systems usually are CAI.
Why does he look so scared... I mean you signed up to let Matt beat on your car.
Because he has + glasses. He can't see close to his eyes and those make this eyes look huge. - glasses like mine don't have that problem.
lol, because a lot of FIAT modders don't know what fast driving is.
+Brodey Dover lol that was a funny comment
+Brodey Dover plus this guy apparently prefers driving straight lines, so he bought a 1.4 Fiat, a car that does corners way better than straights. Go figure......
+Brodey Dover lmfao
This thing sounds so great for a 1.4
The 500 Turbo is the base Abarth in Europe so of course it sounds good. Abarth started as a company making performance exhausts for Fiats, Lancias and other Italian stuff.
vs. what ? if u don't mind me asking
Always good to start my day with the smoking tire
as always, props to him for putting something together he enjoys. There will always be haters if you're not in an "approved" vehicle.
it's nice to see hipsters are getting into cars other than air-cooled 911's.
Hipsters can't afford those you crazy guy you.
yeah, they spend too much money on raw denim for that
+fordrac1ng81 and expensive vaping equipment
vegan diets and vw bus repair cost take up too much time and money.
Why are you such a judgmental douchebag?
"Blowing up on camera would be kinda funny, Id be ok with that''This guy is great
And you didn't get it on camera? #youhadonejob
+SpawnSixThirteen hahaha ikr
Did the car at least make it home in the 3 days after? Hope to see another one take when shes all done!

Awesome video. Love that car. MISS YOUR FIESTA!!!
Yes I mis spoke it was 320 torque not Hp. It made 248 WHP on race gas and 230 WHP on pump
This is my shit right here. ;)
He kinda looks terrified at some points, although I'm sure it's just him looking out for his car.
Mad props to him for bringing it all the way down the west coast.
Shaggy is twitchy as fuck lol. I couldnt stop laughing while seeing his eyes darting back and forth.
Heeey, the first owner that didn't talk out of his ass. I stop watching when the owners start making stuff up. Good job humble and knowledgeable Canadians.
He got a Fiat to go in a straight line?
It's always nice to watch a video where the owner can interact with Matt and speak knowledgeably about their own vehicle.
+1 Canadia
That's once of the nicest sounding cars I've heard in a while.
This is actually a good interview, Dexter Manley asked good questions and the answers were interesting, especially considering that the turbo has been doubled in size! I'm scared that things going to blow any second... but it sounds fantastic and it looks like about as much fun as you can have on the road.
He's not that scared guys. A scared guy wouldn't be as talkative. Maybe that's just his look. Nice car!
6:38 Looks at the speedo, holds his breath with complete terror in his eyes. Then a nod and a nervous smile as he comes out of the corner alive.
I drove the 500 Abarth a few months ago and i'd be lying if i said it wasn't fun lol it was actually a pretty cool car and that sound....0_o sheesh
I really like these one takes where there's a lot of discussion from the owner. Keep up the good work Matt!
I've never laughed during one of these videos more than this one.
Congrats on 600k TST. Onward now to a milli. Thanks for all the great content
Impressive what a little 1.4T engine can do!!
the owner and matt had nice conversation chemistry, I really enjoyed this!
12:01 "don't be so hard on yourself!" what a nice guy lol.
I love how Matt drives the car like ''huh.. this is kinda nice'' while the car owner is holding on for dear life and looking like: ''AHHH IM GONNA DIEEE!!!1"
This is a great way to start my day.
Cant believe someone with a Tork tune is on this channel. My Veloster turbo was tuned by him to 240hp and it turned it into a whole new car.
Owner looks like, hey bro, do you know how fast you're going?
It's a Fiat 500 , its scary to drive unless you are parking the thing.
^ yep!
its scary to drive unless you know how to drive a car...
Ted7 Automotive and Residential Photography #StuartLittle
I rented a Fiat 500 in florida on vacation. I loved that lil bastard.
Two guys in a Fiat... **wink** haha
Never under estimate feeling better about yourself, good job.
Hilarious
+Klasse Act dude learn to take a joke man...
where does that rank against two guys in a miata?
anyone in a miata is just considered "cool" in my eyes, nothing more or less
fun one take!. Owner had a few funny butt pucker moments with Matt driving (6:00 and 8:00) and it was great to see and hear how enthusiastic he is about his car. Nice review and fun to watch! Got a T-shirt Matt!
Yes, Canada your speedo are in K's... just like the rest of the world.
Cool video and I really appreciate you doing weird cars off the beaten path. And thanks again to that guy for driving so far!
The Multiair System helps with that.
+C Mendoza way more boost than you think/assume. iirc with the big turbo this guy is around 20psi, stock Abarth is 18psi on gt1446 (I'm running 23-25psi with my tune)
Need help. Replaced cracked cam & now it will not turn over. Not building enough compression to start.
the owner's face...like someone at gunpoint it's hilarious.
Pretty cool what he did to this, and seems pretty reliable for a fiat ..takes a beating well and doesn't really seem to heat soak.Good stuff. But it seems like it makes Maybe around 200-215 wheel max which is more then fast but 260 would have pinned you guys into your seats and Matt would of commented more on how well the power is.If that's 260 wheel then maybe the high altitude , long tranny gears..or the pump gas it's on is slowing it down or the video isn't doing justice ..nice car all in all
dat guy looks like WHERES WALDO lmao....
He should totally have done this video wearing a stripey sweater
+Jue_boy LOL
lmaoo
lol. good point!
LOL
Wow! that guy looked like he was going to dive out the window! I have never seen one of these where the owner was truly scared to let you drive. This guy was terrified! Cool car!
I'm having more fun looking at the passenger's face and his hilarious reactions lol
This is one of the best car info channels on baby
This guy looks like hes about this shit his pants lmfao!! 4:09 - 5:20
probably did haha he's looking like " :I " all the time
He truly did look like he was scared shitless the ENTIRE time.. That and how he kept looking over at what I am to assume was the speedo lmao Glad I wasn't the only one to notice this
+TheSmokingTire One of the only Fiats that I like. Btw, do you still have the Fiesta ST?
No I sold it
That's too bad. I loved that car.
honestly this guy might just be scared of heights. that's all
I’ve got the same car (but bone-stock). The audio translates extremely well. Even in stock-form, very engaging.
The owner of the car looks like he's scared and getting ready to throw up at certain points in the video.
Usually I hate these appeals to nostalgia (eg Mini, Beetle, Camaro), but they really seem to have made a proper effort with the new 500, I can't hate it.

I have several performance cars and I love my Abarth with computer upgrade. Vicious engine, and sweet exhaust sounds
Canadia??? Lmao thank god for google
Lol
You had to use google?
...must be from Mexicano...
+Elio “Phoenix” Rose Philippinano actually
lmao good one
Funny, I'm playing Gran Turismo 5 and took this 1.2L 8V Fiat 500 with 69hp and tuned it to a 260hp beast. Changed the color to Red, changed the wheels to a better racing look and I love it, sadly it's just a PS3 game...
I see a clk63 amg blackk!!!!!!
I
hey edward clark, when you swap over parts from the abarth to make up the difference you are adding weight to the car, so you end up not being lighter.
Turbo sounds amazing. Check out the sound of my ST on my channel!
4 minutes in, and this dude is shitting his pants. Not raggin on him, Matt can drive. Just awesome to see.
just wanted to say that i was about to buy a t-shirt but i am not down to pay $13 in shipping. $50 for one t-shirt is a bit much. sorry matt.
I understand, there is nothing I can do about shipping rates.
That 1.4 has got to be one of the coolest sounding 4 cylinders produced.
I mean this is cool for a Fiat but that guy needs to chill the fuck out and stop acting like it's a 1500hp GTR
bro this is way lighter than a 1500hp GTR I bet it runs the 1/4 mile in the 9's.
With turbo lag? Between that and the FWD, at least he doesn't need traction control...
The car clearly makes mad power otherwise the owner wouldn't be absolutely shitting himself in the passenger seat.
It was pretty cool watching Matt getting excited about it.
it would be lucky to do better than a 14 second quarter when you consider an evo and WRX are at low 13s.
Hey Matt I know for legal reasons you can't show the cars speed but some interior dash shots with the speed covered would be awesome 😉 great video!
Sweet car!
That sounds exactly like the WRC Fiat engines. I love it.
sticking a big turbo on a non arbath wtf i have an opinion and i dont like it way to loud will annoy the fuck out of you after a while!
SDD525 yeah can do will contribute to saving fuel
This was a fun owner. He seemed to know a lot and didn't leave any awkward silences
I like fiats, but I was hoping for massive power. Kind of a let down.
This has a big turbo the same way that it has a huge back seat...
It's just a 16g, far from a big turbo. This is a tiny 1.4L though, you really can't get too crazy without building the engine. Tuning for these cars isn't ideal, and it has the stupid multiair which makes things trickier.
+Sarah Dell actually multiair is just a programmable intake cam. theoretically you could have different cams in one car at the flip of a switch.
It's gained power since. The turbo is only comparatively big. The transmission (4th gear) blew up after the next power mod about 4 days after this was shot.
Yes but makes tuning a little tricky, and who knows the limits. Most of FCA stuff is annoying to tune
I think it's really funny that he considers a 16g 'big'
Us honda guys consider a 16g more of like a small intro to turboing turbo.
Awesome hot air intake
Seems like there could be a better place for that. In front of battery?
Glove box.
lol, awesome lack of knowledge and displaying your ignorance of the car.
There's zero room in these cars. From the factory the airbox sits directly on top of the valve cover... They have dual intercoolers stock due to no room as well
I bet it's fun if there is a vacuum leak!
Multiair = FIAT Valvetronic
Multiair/valvetronic is not variable timing, it's variable lift too which is why the throttle is no longer the main part of torque request. So your statement is irrelevant.
As to your last statement, perhaps you should go check your fire extinguisher, you're bound to need it soon ;)
EDIT: looks like he deleted his comment about Alfa using variable cam timing in the 80s as though that made current tech boring and old then went on to insult all of Germany
I'm doing a three-part series on how to drive stick, from the basics to the advanced stuff, coming up.
Dude is scared of his own car... give the man a Prius
Its much different riding passenger than it is driving your own car...
Yes, it is. Riding passenger is always more terrifying than holding onto the wheel and pressing those peddles yourself.
+TheBCninja so tru
did notice that too
lol i was going to say the samething not a good passenger partner lol.no trust.
Hi Mat i have a question for you! what is the most fun car you have ever driven? or the most fun carS you have driven?
please always call it its proper name: chinqueciento
Eric Martin GNocco, cinquecento!!!
That’s not how you say 500 in English so why would an English speaker pronounce 500 the Italian way?😂😂😂😂😂
I thought that car looked familiar, and then you said you cam from Vancouver.
+nicsye12 I see that guy all the time. :P
***** Sweet! I just might do that
Bloody hell I love this thing. I need this for NYC!
the owner of this car has a great channel on youtube with awesome content called Petrol and pistons or something, its awesome
