You can eat it without any meat or sides if done right. P.s. the average jamaican do not use basmati rice (its expensive) so feel free to use any rice.

You can eat rice with meat, with teriyaki chicken or fried chicken, with a salad, with beans and mash potatoes or just with any other food you want actually. Don't let anyone stop you from eating it however you want. 😉
