Richard, I really appreciate your videos. As a new owner a year ago this Christmas, I have used these videos to do all my maintenance myself and have purchased several items from Redpants. I’ll be upgrading my brake rotors and changing my break pads this year and will do my purchasing through Redpants. Keep up the excellent work and Merry Christmas to you and yours, Fred B, Boise Idaho.
When i was just contemplating doing this when i get home from my work trip...You go and make a video. Thanks! I'll have to attend to the next meet up in FL... Merry Xmas! Another happy customer and subscriber to Redpants!
Thanks Richard for all your helpful tips. I am another satisfied customer having just bought from your UK website. Can I ask what's wrong if I don't clean the throttle body? My car is 10 years old and has done 80k km.
If the buildup in the throttle body gets thick enough, it can make it more difficult for the butterfly valve to open and close smoothly. An easy way to think of it as the valve can get "sticky."
@@Redpantslol will this improve mpg? Also i know this engine lacks low down torque. What do you recomend for improving this problem? A ecu remap, lighter wheels, bigger throtle body?
@@stevenjr6582 Throttle body cleaning is more for preventative maintenance than anything else, and wouldn't have an effect on MPGs beyond making sure the throttle body doesn't hinder the engine from operating as efficiently as it should. I tend to describe the 4.3L V8 as the "rotary engine of the V8 world"... it's fairly gutless under ~4k RPMs, but fantastic above that. The parts I recommend for improving it the most are to get a twin plate clutch/lightweight flywheel package, high-flow cats (or cat delete pipes), and an engine tune. This is going to give an extra ~40 bhp, reduce drivetrain power loss, and increase throttle response. Beyond that, I'm a huge fan of weight reduction - the parts above will reduce weight slightly, but there's plenty else to be done as well. Altogether, it can completely transform the car for the better.

Hey Fred, thanks so much for the kind words and support!! I'll actually be in Eagle for Christmas :)
I'll be doing this service in the spring, probably just get a catch can too. That was alot of oil, that came out of the can. Wow. Thanks
I'm definitely looking to add the catch can as well.

I'll be posting dates for meetups next year, definitely want to do more of them :) Thanks for the kind words and merry Christmas to you, too!

You make a lot of Aston owner happy .... keep up on that great show
Thank you for the kind words!
Rich, Outstanding video. I had a question. What is the torque for the x4 8mm bolts?
Hey Will, thanks for the kind words! For this type of bolt, the torque would be 10.4 Nm (~8 lb/ft).
