World of Outlaws usually has about 12 cars full time through the season. The series pays tow money, points money, and money for where you finish each night. The more full timers there are, the less money to go around. There is a number where it's too many drivers to make it sustainable to be on the road for 10 months out of the year. That number seems to be about 12 full timers. Below the full timers are the "true outlaws" or pick and choose guys who just run whatever races make sense to them financially. Below the "true outlaws" are the regional guys just running local short tracks close to home.
Spot on commentary! I have the original (2022) game and really enjoy it. I've pre-ordered the new game. However, I think iRacing really dropped the ball with the 1:05 trailer. None of the new features listed on the website with the exception of the wing adjustment, which gets 2 - 3 seconds (and no actual explanation) is shown. So, the trailer presents as a vid. for a 'DLC' not a new game.
A calendar system wouldn't be a bad idea on paper, but: The current medal system does put a bit of a premium on efficiency. If they keep that as is, and let's say you wanted to roll up all 16 P/Q/R/MP medals for every class, at every track, that's, what...11×49×6=3,234 events? Somebody want to double check my arithmetic? On a "hard choices" calendar system, that would be untenable. So, if the medal system is staying, a calendar would be more of a pain than it's worth. The original Project CARS had a calendar, and that kinda worked, because you only needed to win each series (or one-off event) once. So if the devs overhauled the medal system, streamlined it, whatever, then MAYBE a hard calendar would be feasible. But if it's still going to involve collecting medals at all 5 difficulty levels, plus multiplayer, for every car/track combination, that's just too many potential events to jam into a calendar and intentionally add scheduling conflicts to the mix. "Butbutbut muh realism"? There IS such a thing as too realistic, where you get diminishing audience returns. Details for details' sake, is anathema to the general audience that it takes, to keep a studio's lights on. And don't mock the casuals: they're the reason you're not paying $130 to get in the door.
