As a real estate person you oughta know that many people can't afford the high price houses on long island. Its a place that is cutting out the middle class.
Ive lived in NY all my life. Born upstate and lived on long island for most of it. You kind of get used to and accept the good with the bad but when you get out of the NY bubble you realize how much more laid back more affordable and less government controlling things are. To many of us it is like a breath of fresh air. I do have to say I love riding my bicycle all over the island (mostly Suffolk) on a real early Saturday or Sunday morning before the heavy traffic starts. especially on the north shore. When you slow down like that you appreciate the scenery.
I actually thought of the Sopranos when I said that! But my Connecticut accent won't let me do it! Thank you so so much for your support my friend!! XOXOX
Mastic Beach here , born and raised! now I live in North Carolina you can keep your high taxes your high-rent your traffic and your nonsense!! You couldn't pay me to move back there.
I also love Long Island, but the property taxes are ridiculously high. You can thank the teacher's and police unions for that. Both professions are grossly and obscenely overpaid on Long Island. Still, I love living in the Three Village area! Thanks for a nice video!
I Don’t call the police next time your house is being robbed call a crackhead to save you. Or maybe these new social justice warrior volunteers hahahaha. I live on Long Island and that’s the top thing I hate.....a bunch of whiney entitled bitches
The fact that you think that teachers on Long Island are “grossly” overpaid when a large percentage of them who aren’t married have to take on side hustles just to keep afloat 😂oh please.
@@jada7323 Either you’re a teacher or you don’t think six figure salaries, summers off, lifetime health benefits and huge retirement pensions is being overpaid. My aunt is a retired teacher and she even admits she was highly overpaid. I pay for my own health benefits and I’m going to have to work till I’m at least 70. So give me a break! Do your whining elsewhere.
genebigs the average salary of a teacher in New York is 74k. I don’t know where you got six figures from. Summers off= no pay check and a bunch of planning for the next school year. A pension that we have to pay into in order to get just like any other 401k. I’m really trying to figure out what is so overpaid about that. You can’t even buy a home on your own with 74k a year in NY. if you think they make so much money then why didn’t you become a teacher instead of complaining about how your job is so hard and you’ll have to work until you’re 70? Why because teaching is too hard, they don’t make enough money? Since teaching is so easy and pays so well why didn’t you do it?
@@davidkastin4240 really any kind of ethnic food is better here than most anywhere else in the country . I will concede that L.A. has better sushi but they’re right on the Pacific so that’s to be expected
But need to pay around $800 - $2000 monthly property taxes just to enjoy those so called Pros. I would say try out other states and settle down. You can always visit Long Island when you want to.
I grew up on Long Island, I bought a house in Bellport but I sold it in 2005 and moved to Puerto Rico because my wife wanted to be next to her aging mother. I stuck out because I'm a gringo lol. In 2017 I moved to Kansas after meeting a woman on line after my wife passed away. I do miss living on Long Island.
they ruined Long Island by building all these neighborhoods, cutting down the trees ....Long Island was beautiful years ago.....but I still love it here
Taxes are high, but in general, the quality of schools are excellent. Three villages has an excellent school district as an example. I actually live in the North Shore in Nassau county and our school system is one of the highest ranked nationally. And there are quite a few around me that are comparable. In speaking to folks outside of the area who pay much lower property taxes, I have found that the school systems are not comparable, and in fact, many folks decide to send their children to private schools to ensure they have a better quality education. When one factors in the cost of this private education, it more or less offsets the high taxes here. Just one person's experience and view. I certainly respect others.
How bout the landscapers blowing leaves, grass clippings , garbage and rat feces with their jet pack blowers at hurricane speeds from your neighbors yard to yours until your landscaper blows it back. It's like dusty tornadoes of crap that go up and down the street and never stop sunrise to sunset every friggin day. ALSO no one uses their car's turn signal if you do it's like a sign of weakness or something
There are free town beaches, You can learn how to manage traffic using back roads , there are some NY tax star deductions , Get a exterminator not all Long Island has bugs . You also forgot taxes support award winning school districts and top rated hospitals-in the country!
Just like to say that your outfit had sold my house in Rocky Point Long Island 16 years ago had nothing too bad to say about you guys you guys did an awesome job back in the day Long Island was wonderful never wanted to leave but like you said too expensive and life in a human is very short got to enjoy something the other thing I don't like the weather Long Island weather whether it's the summer or winter can get to you I'm a summer person so I can't take the winters anymore the sunshine state is doing better for me
Hempstead , wyandanche, new castle , Freeport...not by the water. Ammityville copaigue. Plenty of ghettos that are affordable on Long Island. She seemed to forget to mention those great places
“Let’s start with the ugly ones first “ Doesn’t mention the insane history of racism/current day segregation at all. But yeah paying to park sucks too I guess.
Most of the crime is within NYC limits. If you are in Nassau or Suffolk county most areas are pretty good. I would suggest you research any town that you decide to reside in advance to ensure you are happy with your selection. One could argue this point, but you will generally find nicer areas, better schools or lower crime on the north shore. Best wishes in your relocation.
The only places where crime could be a problem is Roosevelt, Freeport, Hempstead, some parts of Baldwin and Central Islip, apart from that everywhere else is good for the most part
@@browmaster2197 I would concur. If money is less of any issue, look for a community on the North Shore of Long Island, which in general are less populated, are more affluent and have far less crime
Long Island is patchy almost every town has its area to avoid so there are too much to list. Definitely stay away form Wyndanch, Brentwood, Central Islip. Another thing is dont bring your firearm. You are coming from what us sane people call Free-America and are allowed to defend yourself. Here in NY you can be the best kind of person but if the cops find out you have a gun you will be arrested ran through the ringer for many months spend 10's of thousands of dollars to get out and will have a criminal record. It happens once in a while where an unknowing person comes in has no ill-intent and gets jammed up. One guy was getting ready to fly back to his home state when TSA found an empty magazine in his luggage. A piece of plastic with a spring got him arrested and charged. NY DA's Prosecutors and cops love to make examples out of good people. There is a reason why we have one of the highest outgoing migrations than almost all other states.
