No Platinum trophy isn't a reason not to buy it but especially for a rogue like game it would add a lot to go for 100% completion for people who like trophies.
I wish id Software would port over the recent PS5 version of DOOM + DOOM II to PSVR2 & Quest 3 already. Compound is another fine example of how you can take old school styled 90's(etc) FPS's to the next level by VR-Fying them. Duke Nukem World Tour, Power Slave & Turok II are a few others I'd love to see happen as well.
@@josephs1292 As far as Compound goes, aside from an official seat mode(Instead of having to readjust the floor level.), being able to face all of the mini bosses on Normal difficulty, instead of being forced to play through Hard mode to see them all is a little lame. If you play through normal instead, you'll never face off against the Giant Rat in the sewers or that Gold warrior-dude in the final stage prior to the CEO helicopter battle. AND, i'd love to have a limited lives mode, like 3, instead of just 1.
My psvr2 has been used for a lot of flat gaming this week.....working my way through robocop but doing in in the headset cos it feels more robocopish .....yes i know i am a sad case 🤣
@andyspoo2 there was some info that Sony might be working on DFR for flat games in the headset. That would be so dope because flat is quite blurry on the giant screen, at least to me it is. It's still cool for movies though. I watched the newest Batman that way and it was fun.
I think developer should just focus on making the games they originally envision.whether it be retro, cel shaded, cartoon like or realistic..at the end of the day, good gameplay, original ideas, good storylines, etc are much more important than the art style
This. Development time and money would be significantly reduced, and you would get far better optimization out of them. I'm typically not even interested in realistic visuals most of the time anyways. That's when games start to really lose their charm. As awesome as resident evil village VR is on PSVR2, it's resolution is all over the max and fluctuates, the frame rate is 60fps and reprojected to 120 which unfortunately means motion duplication in VR. PSVR2 is biting just a bit more than it can chew, especially with Resident Evil 4 Remake VR. Yet, Id software(or whoever) could port over games like DOOM(93), DOOM II, Power Slave, Turok 2 & Duke Nukem World Tour, they could easily hit a locked 120fps + 2000x2040 per eye no problem.
Too bad, I thought I would buy it because I'm a fan of retro shooters. However, from what I've seen, the only thing it has in common with a retro shooter is the graphics. The levels are terribly flat and have the structure of interconnected small rooms, which doesn't even come close to the level design of, say, Doom from '93. Enemy behavior looks very boring. Maybe I'll check it out when it's on a bigger sale. this is a $8 game for me.
Awesome review. Definitely sounds up my alley. Wonder if the devs have a road map for it.. obvs it's been out a while already but ya never know..( re more content)
Added that one to the wishlist. Might be a while til I grab it though as my PC adapter arrived today. So excited to try it out. But damn if this one doesn't look very fun too. The store page suggests it is for VR veterans. Do you think that's true? Should newbies like me who are still developing our VR legs hold off until we're more surefooted?
Gr8 review to wake up to, Jammy. I was going to day-one purchase, and this double confirms it. I was hoping to get it today as it's the 13th in Australia already, but that was wishful thinking (1st world probs 😏)
This game does look really great. I kinda wish I could get me a review copy here or there for a game. Such as this one. It definitely reminds me of a doom style shooter. Funds just dont call for this one to be a full priced purchase for me at this time. I just hope this one doesn't get buried in store like so many other good games do, and I forget about it. You've definitely reassured me that it won't be a regretted purchase.
Add it to your wishlist. You'll get emails and notifications when things on there go on sale. It's how I'm getting most of my VR games lately. Wishlisting them and keeping an eye out for the sale notifications.
@@JOHNDOEJUGGALOI can also hook you up with a 15% off referral link. I just bought the game a few days ago on Quest 3 and it's so good. Worth every penny
Does anyone know if this runs at a native 120hz on Quest3? I'm mainly using PSVR2 on PC, but this game in particular seems much better suited to Quest if it can run native without any performance penalty
I’m sorry but I just can’t with roguelikes… Can’t even play Synapse or Light Brigade (spent maybe 1-2 hrs in each of those games and got so damn bored). Although, the gameplay in Synapse is stellar. If that game had a campaign it would be one of my favs 💯
Can u make a video about problems withe Ps Vr 2 on PC and how to solve them as example it works withe every game for me but on Half life Alyx it is just a frozen screen
As everyone's running different PC hardware it would probably be pretty difficult to do some basic issues/fixes video for random games. There could be any number of issues caused by a certain set up, drivers etc.
Everyone else hanging to try HL Alyx on their PSVR2. I'm here waiting to try out Taskmaster VR. Sure, I'll play Alyx eventually too, but I wanna get bossed around by giant Greg Davies first.
Is it only a retro masterpiece on PSVR2 and not on Steam or Quest? Edit - Ahh yes, the specific retro thing about PSVR2 must be the fucking annoying cable.
Have not had a single issue with the cable on my headset. I'm sure fully wireless is nice and freeing, but as long as you are mindful of it, I don't see how anyone can have a problem with VR gaming with a cable. Given we need to be mindful not to hit anything else either, it's not something I see being such a big deal.
I bought a PSVR2 during the recent sale and I've been enjoying your VR content, new sub from me. 😀😀

I think I might buy this because it's my birthday tomorrow and looks excellent
I love compound, played it since early access on steam. Amazing game considering it was made by just one guy.

Absolutely everything about this game looks right up my street! Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I wish they'd add gyro controls to Robocop. I too like to test certain flat games in the headset.
Plus you can effective have a mmmaaasssivvve screen for not that much money, and in a small room.

Cinematic mode is a really solid option for some first-person games. What you lose in fidelity you gain in immersion threefold.
It’s ridiculous that cinematic mode is limited to 1080. Even Quest 2 is about 4k. 🤷♂️
Looks like a fun game, the modifiers sound great for replayability.
I might pick it up.
Thanks for the review Jammy👍
The fact that everything is color coded tells you that you are just supposed to go in and gun down enemies with a rhythm
i think vr should focus more on this art style than hyper realistic games
