Thank goodness for this UA-cam! I bought the kit, newish to quilting, and never done HSTs before. Big learning curve on matching points. After researching, I learned about nesting the seams so you do have to pay attention how you lay this out.

I was wondering that too, because the video looks like she barley trims anything , if you go to page 5 you can see that there the heart does not extend to the very edge of the finished sides, hope this helps and I didn't confuse you.

It’s what you make of it. If you have material in your stash then use it. Hopefully you have a ruler, rotary cutter and board. This Heart could be made from all different colours and patterns to have the same effect and you don’t need the triangle papers to make a half-square-triangle...so get to it! I love the cross stitch pattern...I’m going to stitch it in aqua colours (from my DMC stash) for my daughter. Honestly, Felicity is running a business and there is nothing wrong with advertising their products available for purchase. 🌸 Good luck and take care. X

How many extra HST do you end up with? Why not just write the pattern to have exactly enough?

What good is a free pattern if you have to purchase extra supplies!
You can always pull from your stash.
